Bamenda, July 10, 2024 - A delegation from the Cameroon National Youth Council (CNYC) North West Region, led by its President, Rev. Eng. Mekom Samuel Taleh, yesterday paid a visit to the Living Vine Medical Rehabilitation Center in Bamenda. The visit was aimed at interacting with inmates of the center, who are struggling with drug abuse and other mental health issues.
The delegation was made up of Mezam President Rev. Kimbu Ndifon Peterson, Divisional President Mezam CNYC, Bamenda 3 Subdivision President, and other youth council officials.
Dr. Fonbeh Henderick Chin, the founder and CEO of the rehabilitation center, welcomed the delegation and expressed appreciation for their visit. "We believe that every individual has the potential to make a positive impact in society, and it's our responsibility to provide them with the necessary support and resources to achieve their goals," Dr. Chin said.
During the visit, the rehabilitated youths shared their stories of struggle and redemption, highlighting the challenges they faced and the importance of support systems.
Kingsley Sumba, national president of Cameroon for Justice and Freedom and founder of the African Association of Great Thinkers, recounted his own journey into drug addiction and subsequent rehabilitation. "I was unaware of the gravity of the situation until I came to this center. I have been able to find healing and redemption here, and I want to encourage others to seek help," he said.
Twapi Jiki Allen, another inmate, spoke of his struggles with drug abuse and his decision to seek help at the center. "I was addicted to drugs for over a decade, and it was a very difficult journey. But I have been able to overcome my addiction here, and I am now committed to helping others do the same," he said.
