Update: Gulu district commisioned a Multi-million school construction project at St. Martin Lukome Primary school.
The construction included; 1 unit of two classroom blocks, teachers qauters, two unit of latrine, girls changing room
This was done with funding from NUDEIL.
Acholi Parliamentary group led by Hon. Okot John Amos has visited places affected by Nodding Syndrome in Omoro, Pader, Kitgum and Lanwo district.
In Omoro, Pader and Kitgum, some of these Children have taken over 3 months without getting essential drugs, many of the girls Re being defiled r***d and hundreds of them have since passed on
Hon. Gilbert Olanya said they will task government to compensate all Children who have died as result of Nodding syndrome
National Unity Platform has asked newly appointed Commisioner of Parliament, Hon. Mathias Mpuuga to step down from his role after he admitted to have taken part in a service award of 500 million shillings.

Gulu district Woman Member of Parliament, Hon. Laker Sharon Balmoi has donated a tractor worth 180 million shillings to Farmers in Gulu
Hon. Laker said she bought this Tractor and gave to farmers as a fulfillment of her pledge she made during the 2021 general elections
She urged the Farmers to use the new tractor to open their gardens so that they can fight household Poverty
The function was also attended by other Members of Parliament, like Hon Wokorach Simon, Hon. Gilbert Olanya, Hon. Okot John Amos and Hon Okin PP Ojara who all urged people of Acholi to utilize their land for production to avoid land intruders

Professor George Openjuru Laddaa, the University Vice Chancellor said that out of this, 58.1 percent are male while 41.1 percent are females

Youths with disabilities in Gulu gets assistive devices
A total of 120 youths with disabilities have received various assistive devices to help them in their daily lives
The devices were donated by Sight Savers Uganda, a non-governmental organizations working for the betterment of lives of Vulnerable people
The devices include; wheel chairs, hearing aid, white canes among others.

Acholi MPs demand for unconditional release of Activist arrested in Palaro
Gulu City Woman MP, Hon. Betty AOL Ocan have demanded for immediate release for Activists who were on Wednesday arrested from Palaro sub-county in Gulu district
On Wednesday men in army uniforms allegedly arrested four people that include; Mego Betty Ocwee, Francis Okello, their driver and another unidentified boy who was operating the public address system
Hon. AOL revealed to Journalists that these people had gone to Palaro to sensitize the people on Balalo issues but they were arrested by unknown gunmen
Hon. Amos John Okot(Agago North) said they have tried to reach out to Army and the Police station to find out the whereabouts of these people, but they have not yet been found
They said the Army or Police should release these Activists with immediate effects if they are under their detention
However, when contacted, the 4th division PRO, Major. Telesphor Turyamumanya confirmed that these people were arrested by the Police because they were illegally destroying the fence of some of the Balalo herdmen in Palaro
He cautioned people against taking the Laws into their own hands saying that Policiticians should desist from Politisizing the issue of Balalo eviction
On Wednesday a video circulated on Social Media showing some group of people cutting down fences in areas of Gulu district

Activist call for more funding into Mental Health
Activists have called on government and development stakeholders to get more funding to support the growing need for mental health
The call came today during the Mental Health Marathon organized by different partner in Gulu City
Gulu City Woman Member of Parliament, Hon. Betty AOL Ocam emphasized the need for government to recruit Mental health experts in government facility like Gulu Regional referral hospital so that people with Mental illness can receive adequate support
Mego AOL also urged Parents not to abandon their Children who have issues with Mental challenges saying they can be treated and live normally like any other person
Hon. Denis Lakwonyero, Councilor V for person with disabilities said mental health is one of the forms of disabilities that should not be neglected by government and stakeholders
He urged people to stop abusing people with Mental illness as anyone can be a candidate for mental illness
A report by Mental Health Uganda shows that Northern Uganda has one the highest cases of Mental illnesses in the Country due to the effects of the 2 decades LRA war.

Layibi beat Gulu City FC 1-0 in a game played 4th division barracks.
Layibi were awarded 1 million shillings, and Gulu CIty FC, got 500,000 shillings and number 3, Young Boys got 300,000. Each of the Team also received a new set of Jersey.

RCC, locals stops investor from further building in wetland
Bar-dege-Layibi division RCC, Mr. Gilbert Okwii today halted the construction work at wetland near Pece stream next to Cynabel Supermarket.
Mr. Okwii said the investor was not allowed to build in the wetland adding that he is illegally putting up the structure in the wetland
A group of concern people this morning ordered the construction workers to stop henceforth with their work on the wetland because they don't have permission
Up to now, there is still no clarity on who is the said investor in the wetland.

Little Sisters of Mary Immaculate will use the Iron sheets to roof part of their housing that was damaged by strong win three weeks ago
