Should he face retributive justice rather than restorative justice. If he committed no crime why is he pursuing mato oput? Oput is not taken without a crime. Let him first admit.

21 new cases of covid-19 were registered yesterday. Ministry of health reveals that all the confirmed cases are truck drivers from Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya and South Sudan. This brings the total confirmed cases in Uganda at 160. No confirmed cases from samples taken from within the community.

International Day of the Nurses

We would like to specially recognize and appreciate the phenomenal work done by our nurses. Even during the COVID-19 pandemic, they continue to exhibit commitment and compassion to all their patients. Thank you. We celebrate you.

On this day, we remember and recognise the former Senior Nursing Officer (Rtd) at Gulu Regional Refferal Hospital, Sr. Caroline Akota Omoya who passed on in November 2018 after a long illness.

Sr. Omoya exhibited love, care, compassion, affection to all her patients and touched so many lives a true definition of a nurse. May her soul continue to rest in eternal peace. We from Gulu insider miss you, Sr. Omoya.

One new confirmed case of COVID-19 has been admitted at Gulu Regional Referral Hospital for case management.

A 40 year old Ugandan truck driver a resident of Kyengera, Nakasozi zone in Kampala who tested positive was intercepted at Elegu border in Amuru District on his way back from Juba. He travelled to Juba, South Sudan on 27th April 2020. Uganda has registered 85 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and no death as yet.

Reknown political activist and ANT's international Affairs Secretary Barbara Allimadi has passed on. She was found dead in her home in Kiwatule a Kampala surburb.

Barbara was the daughter to the late Otema Allimadi, a former prime minister of Uganda during the Obote II regime. May her soul rest in eternal peace.

Dear Citizens and Residents of Gulu,

Receive warm greetings from the Gulu District COVID-19 Taskforce!

We have received a lot of concerns and expressions of fear and panic from several community members about some false news circulating that a Kenyan truck driver has been confirmed positive with COVID-19 in Gulu.

We would like to clarify that the information is false and should be disregarded.

It is important to inform you that yesterday, the Taskforce (Medical Team) picked a Kenyan national named Khadi Abibi, 26 years old from a home around Down Shop in Layibi Division, Gulu Municipality. This Kenyan who identified himself as a Truck Driver had stayed in that area at a home of a lady for about 4 days. He was picked and taken to the isolation facility at Gulu Regional Referral Hospital because he had some signs and symptoms similar to that of COVID-19.

I would like to inform you further that his samples were taken and sent immediately yesterday to Entebbe and we awaits the results. He is currently in a stable condition and being fully attended to by the medical team at Gulu Regional Referral Hospital.

We call for calm and please continue complying with the directives of the President of the Republic of Uganda and all the precautionary measures as advised by the medical personnels.

We will keep you fully informed and please rely on authentic information from the Ministry of Health and the Taskforce.
