Video Associates opened its doors in 1981 as one of the first of only two full service television commercial production companies in the Caribbean. We have an unparalleled 29-year track record of success producing highly acclaimed television commercials, business features, infomercials, television series and full feature films. In 2008, when the United Nations tendered for a production house to sc
ript, shoot and produce a feature on the history of the UN in Trinidad & Tobago, Video Associates was chosen. On the launch of Atlantic LNG’s highly anticipated Train 4 production line and on the eve of the company’s 1700th cargo shipment in July 2009, we were again chosen to produce a corresponding broadcast feature. In 2009, the Telecommunications Authority of Trinidad & Tobago also chose Video Associates to produce a 30 minute feature entitled “Cyber Danger”. The final product was distributed on DVD to schools nationwide as part of an interest awareness campaign. Over the years, we have produced features and commercials for banks, manufacturers, corporate and retail clients, insurance companies – locally, regionally and internationally. Some of our clients include Atlantic LNG, The National Gas Company of Trinidad & Tobago, UNDP, BP Trinidad Limited, Carib Brewery, TSTT, TATT, Republic Bank Limited, Crimestoppers, Niherst Angostura, to name a few. Our Editor/Producer, Richard Chin, and our Senior Cameraman, Leroy Smart, have been in the industry for the past 15 years. Richard Chin has spear-headed many of the productions, coordinating the animation graphics, editing and technical support necessary for the completion of projects. Leroy received his training as the Marine Media College Workshops in Rockport, Maine, U.S.A. He has worked alongside renowned international cameramen in the production of Merchant & Ivory’s “Mystic Masseur” and “Satan’s Daughter”, both being full feature movie productions. Video Associates produced the thirteen (13) part Cooking Caribbean series, which was successfully released worldwide on cooking channels through TPI Distribution, Virginia, U.S.A. We have just completed a 15-minute feature on the fishing industry, a project for the Ministry of Food Production, Land & Marine Affairs and funded by ACP Fish II Coordination Unit in Brussels. Currently, we are completing the editing of the NIHERST Sci-Techno Fest 2011 and two UNDP projects. Although we have received numerous awards, we have never lost sight of the company’s most important mandate: “To bring our full creative and technical input to exceed our clients’ expectations and produce an end product that that reflects our skill and enthusiasm, no matter the size of the production.”
Our approach to all television features depends on the genre of the project, hence we work with script writers and researchers who would best suit the project, bearing in mind the attention span of today’s viewers and the fast paced cutting edge cinematic approach to which they have become accustom.
