Actress Jennifer Aniston has criticised Donald Trump’s vice-presidential candidate, JD Vance, for resurfaced comments in which he called Democrats a "bunch of childless cat ladies with miserable lives".
The "Friends" actress posted a clip of Vance’s 2021 interview, captioning it: "I truly can’t believe that this is coming from a potential VP of the United States." She added: “I pray that your daughter is fortunate enough to bear children of her own one day."

China will gradually raise its statutory retirement age in the next five years to try to cope with its ageing population and buckling pension system. Life expectancy in the country is now 78 years.
Still, China's retirement age remains one of the lowest in the world - at 60 for men, 55 for women in white-collar jobs and 50 for working-class women.
Age 65 may be the final adjustment.

A team of imaging experts, scientists and historians will set sail for the Titanic today, to gather the most detailed photographic record ever made of the wreck. They'll be using state of the art technology to scan every nook and cranny of the famous liner to gain new insights into its sinking.
This will be the first commercial mission to Titanic since last year's OceanGate tragedy in which five men died while trying to visit the lost ship in a novel submersible.

The Steelpan has officially been declared as the National Instrument of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago! 🇹🇹

The National Musical Instrument Bill, 2024, was debated in Trinidad and Tobago’s Parliament with unanimous support from all Members present in the House of Representatives and the Senate on July 3rd and 4th, 2024 . Senator the Honourable Randall Mitchell, Minister of Tourism, Culture and the Arts first introduced the Bill on June 7, 2024 and subsequently piloted the respective debates in Parliament.

The Steelpan is the only musical instrument invented in the 20th century and is the pride and joy of this twin island Republic.

A bill officially making the Steelpan the national instrument of Trinidad and Tobago was passed in the House of Representatives last evening.
It was welcomed news by Pan Trinbago, which described the development as a significant milestone which honors the legacy of innovation, creativity and resilience embedded in the steelpan.

Julian Assange has landed back home in his native Australia, after a plea deal with the US government allowed him to walk free.
For the past 14 years, Assange has been in a legal battle with US officials who accused him of leaking classified documents, which they say put lives in danger. He was accused of leaking the classified documents via WikiLeaks.

Visual artist Che Lovelace has revealed a collaboration with the Italian / French vintage rum firm, La Maison & Velier which will feature 21 of his paintings on bottles and packaging for some rare Trinidadian rums recently launched in Europe.
Sharing the news on his social media pages, Lovelace said the collaboration shows how “this small place can reach every corner of the globe with a bit of beauty and magic to share.”

A new display highlighting the expansive work of playwright and cultural activist, Dr. Eintou Pearl Springer has been set up at the University of Trinidad and Tobago’s Tamana Campus Library.
The collection includes much of Springer’s original manuscripts, as well as chronicles her involvement in the Black Power Revolution, the establishment of the National Library and Information System Authority (NALIS), and her role as a founding member of the Emancipation Support Committee.

The World Health Organization, WHO, has issued a global alert about fake versions of Ozempic - the diabetic drugs which have become popular as a way of losing weight. Ozempic is sometimes known as a "skinny jab".
The WHO warned against buying the drug on obscure sites online or through social media.

Four members of the UK's richest family are on trial in Switzerland amid allegations they spent more money caring for their dog than their servants.
The Hinduja family, worth an estimated US$47 billion, is accused of exploitation and human trafficking.
The family own a villa in Geneva’s wealthy neighbourhood of Cologny and the charges against them all relate to their practice of importing servants from India to look after their children and household.

A controversy over a waterfall has cascaded into a social media storm in China, even prompting an explanation from the water body itself.
A hiker posted a video that showed the flow of water from Yuntai Mountain Waterfall - billed as China's tallest uninterrupted waterfall - was coming from a pipe built high into the rock face. The clip has been liked over 70,000 times since it was first posted.
The Yuntai tourism park operators said that they made the "small enhancement" during the dry season so visitors would feel that their trip had been worthwhile.
