In the world we now live in, where travel plays a leading role in our lives, airports worldwide have expanded, and so have many airlines, all to better connect the world. For the world’s leading airlines and airports, maintaining their presence remains crucial as they aim to grow their operations and earn the title of the world’s best. Here in the Lion City, the tiny island city state’s renowned airport, which has claimed the title of World’s Best multiple times, sees a multitude of airlines from across the world gracing its ground alongside the famous SilverKris, which coincidentally claimed the top spot many times as well. The combination of one of the leading airlines in the world, calling the world’s best home, sure made it a match made in heaven, as the city-state draws travellers from across the globe, keeping up with its tourist-dependent economy. Recently, the world’s best airport opened its doors to a group of eager aviation enthusiasts, giving them unprecedented access to the behind-the-scenes operations, all while connecting the aviation community closer. Being so close to one of the SilverKris’ raccoon jets was a plus point as she pushed back for her next assignment. It was simply a fantastic experience!!

The Definition of Air Dominance. A bold statement that cements the reputation of one of the world’s, if not the world’s, deadliest and most technologically advanced fighter aircraft, with its unmatched capabilities and design. Unique to only one operator in the world, namely the United States Air Force, this fighter exceeds the expectations of many, with its advanced radar system and 5th generation stealth fighter technology, earning its title as the World’s Best. This fighter is none other than the Lockheed Martin F-22A Raptor, the world’s 5th generation stealth fighter that is a cut above the rest with one of the smallest radar cross sections for a fighter, giving it an edge with its advanced radar systems to counter its enemies. A fighter so advanced in a class of its own, providing the Air Force with leverage against threats and a unique view of the battlefield. With such a reputation, the F-22 sure became the talk of the town wherever it visited, be it for air shows or exercises. It was no different when a pair recently graced the skies of the Lion City. Arriving from the Land Down Under for an upcoming training with the Republic of Singapore Air Force, a pair of raptors roared their way over the heartlands as they landed at one of 3 air bases in preparation for what was to come over the next few days. It was sure a sight to behold when the raptors arrived, one to be cherished for awhile.

Dark clouds and gloomy weather are typical days in the emerald city, making it a wet start for many as they kick off their day. Like every other day, while the city proceeds with its routine, its gateway to the rest of the country and the world ramped up its operations as it welcomed flights from across the country and the world, allowing for the ever-growing travel demand to be met. With it being a key gateway to Asia and part of the West, it was no stranger its operations were packed with international arrivals amongst the long list of domestic arrivals. While there was a steady flow of global connections, its domestic network sure dominated its proceedings as several local carriers worked to connect the 50 states. Leading the way on this gloomy day, the famed homegrown carrier from the last frontier took to the skies to show its vast network as it continued its expansion in the domestic market, with one of its stretched baby buses, a sight once so familiar, now just a distant memory, jetting off to the City of Angels. As she climbed out of the soaking wet emerald city, she painted the gloomy skies with some stunning colours, making her stand out ever so well. It was a beautiful sight, and her livery was the show stopper. Gorgeous!!

FREIGHTER FRIDAY!!! One with none other than the majestic Queen of the skies!! In one of Europe’s busiest airports, where passenger and cargo operations are plenty, it was no stranger to see the multitude of different aircraft types and configurations grace its grounds as it worked to connect the world with it, ensuring the travel demand and international freight demands are met. While passenger operations dominated most of its proceedings throughout the day, the airport welcomes many cargo flights from across the world as the ever-growing trend of online shopping continues to maintain its upward trend. Through this, the airport’s number of freighters was at an all-time high, with multiple airlines working to keep the availability. Amongst the many airlines flying in their cargo jets, a number of them sure caught the eye of many as they call from lesser known places, operating with lesser known airlines. Just like this majestic Queen of the Skies, decked out in a simplistic red and white livery with its corporate billboard titles, gracing the airport on a wet, gloomy day, stealing the limelight with her elegance, all while it kicked up the puddles of water that lined the runway. She completed her hop from Doha, operating for the Oryx.

The City of Angels, a bustling city on the western coast of the United States, is home to many big names in show business. It has one of the busiest airports in the world, connecting travellers domestically and internationally. With operations scheduled throughout the day through nine passenger terminals, of which a majority were packed with flights heading within the country, it was no stranger to seeing many narrowbody aircraft parked across the domestic terminals. Amongst the local airlines that connected the country through the airport, one airline stood out with her stunning fuel-efficient narrowbody as she led the way through the packed airport taxiways, looking to depart on her journey. Taking her turn in the active as the afternoon sun bore down on the city, the little stretched BabyBus flexed her pair of wings for the open skies above, as her stunning livery, coupled with the gorgeous backdrop the great state of California had to offer, made her a star as she began her journey to Beantown. A magnificent sight to behold as the rays of sunlight reflected off her resplendent fuselage, giving her a prepossessing look as she climbed out of the City of Angels! What a stunning sight!!

Late nights at Changi, one with a flurry of activity and noise, all happening simultaneously as the Lion City’s gateway to the world remained as active as ever, even with the clock ticking past midnight. With its operations running round the clock, it showed how busy the airport of this tiny island nation is, as airlines worked to connect the city-state with the world. Other than the famous SilverKirs, who call the airport home and dominate most of its proceedings, many other airlines joined the fray as they worked to keep up with the booming travel demand. Despite the late hours, a snaking queue on the ground formed along the taxiways leading to the active departure runway as flights looked set to take to the skies for their journey out. Leading the way in this snaking queue, the famous Queen of the Skies, the latest iteration of it, took its turn on the active as she began her long take-off the roll for Manhattan. Operating for the unmistakable German crane, a key partner to the SilverKris, the Queen flexed her massive wings, taking to the skies under the cover of the night, all while capturing the attention of many with her epitome of elegance. A majestic sight to behold as the Queen painted the already picturesque setting with her simplistic yet elegant livery, making her stand out ever so well! Simply beautiful!!

As the sunsets here in the land of the morning calm, the day begins to end yet again, with the winter coolness adding to the beautiful vibes of the golden hour that had descended upon us. While the country began to settle down and unwind, one location remained as busy as ever, acting as a critical gateway to the world. With flights arriving and departing steadily, it was a busy period as the airport welcomed flights worldwide, numerous from the region. Acting as the flag carrier, the famous baby blue airline, which has what some call the Pepsi logo, connected the country to many destinations, with many flights connecting to the region. Among those flights, the arrival queue saw a triple three leading the way as she looked to complete her hop from the Land of Smiles. Flexing her wings and flaring as she gracefully conducted her finals, the triple three showed off her elegance in flight, all while the beautiful golden rays of light bestowed upon her resplendent fuselage, giving her a prepossessing look, as the stunning backdrop of the airport provided a picturesque setting. A simply gorgeous sight of the aviation world! Beautiful!!

Flight delays, cancellations, and even rescheduled flights are some of the pain points travellers experience whenever they travel. These pain points occur ever so often in the industry that it’s become a norm for travellers to find alternatives or stick with the original flight and airline to complete their travels. For some airlines, such circumstances occur more frequently than others, especially if they are a new start-up or an airline with a small fleet, like Japan’s newest boutique airline, Air Japan. Operating on 2 Boeing 787-8 Dream)liners, Air Japan, connects the Land of the Rising Sun to three existing destinations, namely the Lion City, the Land of Smiles and the Land of the Morning Calm. With three destinations and two aircraft, there have been times when delays or rescheduling were done for the airline to meet its operational needs. On this beautiful night, it was the case that her original flight to the Lion City was cancelled and rescheduled for an earlier arrival the next day. Zooming by for the active runway here at the World’s Best Airport, the smallest variant of the Baeliner family flexed her wings as her stunning corporate livery painted the skies with some needed colour. Beacons ablaze, she sure stole the show as she arrived in style! What a sight!!

In the world of aviation, time is of the essence. As travellers look to arrive and depart on time, any delay remains an unwelcome occurrence that causes a significant inconvenience. Recently, several significant diversions and air turnbacks have occurred due to some circumstances affecting multiple airlines and travellers. For one of Korea’s expanding carriers, operating a small medium to long haul fleet of three three zeros, a technical fault disrupted her return to her home base, thus returning back to Lion City shortly after departure. With their customers stranded here in the Lion City, arrangements were made for their accommodation while a rescue flight was called for. Taking to the skies in the hazy land of the morning calm, the smaller of the two variants of the three three zeros they operated began her rescue flight as she trudged her way down south to the World’s Best Airport, empty. Arriving in her cover of darkness here, she sure captured the attention of the few aviation enthusiasts who awaited her arrival. Painting the skies with her stunning colours, she sure stood out and stole the show as she gracefully zoomed by for the active runway for her rescue mission. A simply beautiful sight!!

A region where culture and heritage supersede major tourist attractions opens up travel opportunities as people look to experience new cultures and learn about their history. This opens a world of opportunities in the airline industry, thus expanding a vast network that better interconnected the region. For one of the countries in the area, its history and culture unique to its land were a significant attraction to many travellers worldwide, allowing its national carrier to expand regionally and open up more flights. Connecting to cities of its neighbouring countries, the flag carrier operated numerous flights daily, ensuring a steady flow of flights for the increased demand since the global pandemic. For this route between the Lion City and the Land of Smiles, the market allowed them to operate at least five flights a day, with one arriving late at night. Arriving close to midnight, the flight was a welcomed sight as the airline opted for one of her ever-reliable workhorses in the ageing Boeing 777-200ER aircraft. Zooming by, her simplistic colours painted the night skies, making her stand out with her signature purple as the rays of ambient light reflected off her shiny fuselage. A simply gorgeous sight!!

As the clock edged closer to midnight, the usual dull night skies here in the Lion City signified the end of yet another day and week. While most of the country took a step back and began to rest for the night in preparation for a long, hectic day, one place remained as busy as ever with a flurry of activity, working round the clock to provide connectivity with the rest of the world. Dubbed the World’s Best and Asia’s busiest Airport, its operations went round the clock, 24 hours and seven days a week, with airlines working to ensure the Lion City remained well connected with the region and the world. While the home-based SilverKris dominated the proceedings, other carriers joined the fray, with some from the region operating multiple flights daily to key destinations. Operating numerous daily flights, the airline, home to the Chinese financial hub where she connected from, arrived in style with one of her multiple butter machines, painting the skies with her simplistic livery, but one with a twist as she celebrated the World Skills Event held back in 2022. A beautiful sight to behold as she stood out like a star. Simply gorgeous!!

As an aviation photographer, if you asked me where I would love to head back to take more aviation photos, the one place on my mind since March has been Phuket. Why Phuket? It’s pretty straightforward. Thailand is a country I’ve always loved to visit because of its food and culture, but in recent times, it’s been about the stunning views and traffic that Thai Cities have to offer for aviation photography. The island of Phuket provided one of the best I’ve experienced in ages and will surely cherish, with all those stunning views. The famous Mai Khao Beach, where the airport meets the beach paradise, attracts crowds from all walks of life, hoping to capture a photo they will remember for a lifetime. With the airport just meters away from the beach, it was no stranger to have a view of its runway, blocked off by a fence, just a short distance away. As its operations kicked off on this beautiful morning, the famous flying pencil awaited her turn to taxi on to the active as she prepared for a hop home to Khabarovsk. She stood eagerly at her designated spot, framed perfectly in the shot as the sun rose behind her, creating a picturesque backdrop. A perfect illustration of why Phuket is a place I’ll keep returning to. Absolutely stunning!

Singapore-London-Singapore, a route so lucrative for the industry that airlines from three countries work to meet the ever-growing demand with multiple flights a day, giving travellers more options for travel. Among the three flag carriers, one was the main airline, London, its home base, operating two faith flights to the Lion City. While one of its two flights connected onward to the Land Down Under, the other flight saw the airline opt for its highest capacity aircraft, allowing the demand for travel to be met. Arriving in the late afternoon or early evening, its subsequent departure for home base would take to the skies in the night after a layover, allowing the aircraft to be thoroughly cleaned and maintained. As night fell on this beautiful Wednesday night, the massive whale jet, the aircraft the airline selected for this flight, led the departure queue as she lined the runway for her journey home. Taking to the skies in the cover of the night, she painted the night skies with some colour from her simplistic livery, making her stand out ever so well. The ambient light rays reflected off her massive resplendent fuselage, giving her a prepossessing look as she began her long hop to the Big Smoke. What a stunning sight to behold! Simply beautiful!!

One of 2 key destinations for a brand-new airline breaking into the market as one of the region’s medium-haul carriers, it was no stranger to see them tapping on newer technology as they connected part of the region. Taking over a number of aircraft from its parent company, the carrier reconfigured them to an all-economy aircraft, increasing capacity as they looked to tap into the ever-growing demand of travellers looking to travel between the Lion City and the Land of the Rising Sun. With 1 flight a day, it sure was a sight to see the airline here at the World’s Best Airport as they joined a long list of scheduled flights between the two countries, making it one of the most interconnected routes. Operating late into the night, the airline sure posed a challenge for us aviation enthusiasts as they arrived close to midnight and departed an hour later in darkness. Like every other day, the smallest of the Baeliner family took her turn on the active departure runway as she powered out for her journey home. Flexing her wings, the rays of light from the surroundings reflected off her shiny fuselage as she painted the skies with her stunning colours, giving her a prepossessing look and simultaneously making her the star of the night. It was truly a sight to see as they jetted for home! Such a beauty!!

It was a long road to recovery, one that took about two years, after fighting a global event so powerful that the world almost ground to a halt, with countries restricting access to the world, all in a bid to ensure we ride the wave smoothly and re-open at the right time. It is a vast global phenomenon that even the most significant economies closed their doors to travellers across the board and placed restrictions on a bit to control the spread. While it affected us deeply, cue the road to recovery, where countries began opening up, albeit with some guidance and restrictions, allowing the world to reconnect again. For Asia’s World City and the Lion City, it was a step that saw the resumption of air travel between the two mega-Asian financial hubs. Fast forward to now, the connections have grown, with flights between the cities operating till past midnight, allowing for more options for travel to meet the ever-growing demand. On this night, it was no different for one of the two leading carriers plying this lucrative route, with its raccoon in the lead of the arrival queue in the skies above. As she zoomed by, the rays of ambient lighting from the beach reflected off her resplendent fuselage, giving her a prepossessing look, while her simplistic colours painted the night skies with some contrast. A stunning sight to see of her in the night as she arrived from Asia’s World City! Simply beautiful!!

In a dynamic world where foreign relations play a crucial role in ensuring peace and harmony around the globe, politicians take long trips to work towards healthy bilateral ties among countries. They make an impact at the forefront as the world continues to evolve with technology and changes in views. For one of the world’s leading economies, it has become vital for them to be at the forefront of bilateral relations in specific regions as tensions grow among others to ensure they maintain precedence as one of the big players and close friends to the many other smaller counterparts. With such a game plan in mind, along with the recent developments worldwide, Uncle Sam opted to have one of its key members visit the region to show its presence and willingness to forge better ties. Arriving for a two-day visit, Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced his arrival in style with one of the US Air Force’s advanced VIP transport, completing its hop from the Pearl of the Orient. Zooming by under the cover of darkness, the little flying pencil, a special one modified for the Air Force, painted the skies with her stunning colours, making her stand out ever so well.
