Baloch National Movement Statement:
The spokesperson of the Baloch National Movement stated that on August 11, 1947, Balochistan gained complete independence from British rule. Balochistan was never a part of India; instead, it was a separate and independent nation. On November 13, 1839, the British Army invaded Balochistan, martyring the ruler of Balochistan, Shahid Khan Mehrab Khan, and annexed Balochistan, depriving it of its independence. Through conspiracies and treaties, the eastern territories of Balochistan were separated, and a puppet state, British Balochistan, was established, which was placed under the control of the British government in Delhi.
The spokesperson stated that the political and tribal leaders of Balochistan never accepted British dominance and made efforts to achieve self-determination and reclaim their historical lands through diplomatic, political, and constitutional means. On August 11, the flag of Balochistan was raised in the capital city, Kalat, and the declaration of Balochistan's independence was made. On this day, a blueprint for the progress and national development of the Baloch National State was presented, with a clear determination to establish Balochistan as a modern democratic state.
After gaining independence from British rule, general elections were held in Balochistan in which the progressive Baloch political party, Kalat State National Party, secured a majority. When the issue of merging with Pakistan was raised in both the lower and upper houses of Balochistan, the majority of Baloch representatives rejected the proposal, emphasizing their commitment to independence and self-determination. The neighboring countries and international powers were expected to respect this freedom and right to self-determination, but Britain, through its support to Pakistan, forcibly occupied Balochistan on March 27, 1948.
The spokesperson mentioned that due to internal weaknesses, the Baloch nation fell into the clutches of colonial powers and became enslaved as a result of conspiracies and desires. The occupiers, by forcibly annexing Balochistan to a state like Pakistan, plunged humanity into deep suffering. Pakistan continues to perpetrate atrocities on the Baloch nation to maintain its illegal occupation, violating human rights in the region. If Balochistan were to be free, the Baloch nation's life would be much better, and Balochistan would be a happy and prosperous state.
The spokesperson declared that on August 11, all chapters and sections of the Baloch National Movement and various organizations would hold events to raise awareness about the significance of this day and reaffirm their determination to achieve freedom alongside the Baloch nation.
