Agriauto Industries Limited (PSX: AGIL) will continue to observe partial shutdown during the month of April.

In a stock filing to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the auto components manufacturer said it will be observing a partial shutdown during April owing to the reduction in production volumes of its major customers.

The development is a continuation of last month’s moratorium when Agriauto first announced that it would partially close its plant during the month of March.

AGIL is engaged in the manufacture and sale of components for automotive vehicles, motorcycles, and agricultural tractors. Its clients include Suzuki, Toyota, and Atlas Honda, all of which are suffering and have shuttered plant operations on repeated occasions as the auto industry reels with inventory shortages caused by import bans.

Pakistan’s auto industry is still besieged by various crises. Listed companies such as Pak Suzuki Motor Company (PSMC), Indus Motor Company Limited, and Honda Atlas Cars have also been ordered to cease production in recent months due to economic hardships.

The country continues to require dollars in order to meet its import and other external payment obligations. This problem will persist and put a strain on the auto industry unless policies are put in place to help alleviate the situation.

The Ministry of Commerce has asked the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) to issue necessary instructions to banks to open letters of credit (LC) for tea on a priority basis, declaring the import of tea as a ‘primary import’.

According to a letter from the Ministry of Commerce, the Pakistan Tea Association has informed that during the coming month of Ramzan, the domestic demand for tea will increase significantly across the country.

Tea farmers are set to earn more from export of tea to Pakistan which is Kenya’s major export product. This is after the Pakistan government classified tea as an essential import commodity.

The move will also boost Kenya’s export earnings from the tea industry after the Pakistan Central Bank approved the use of US dollars as the transaction currency in the tea business.

Kenya exports fifty percent of it’s tea to Pakistan making it the biggest market for the Kenyan major export product.

“In a letter to President Raisi … the king of Saudi Arabia welcomed the deal between the two brotherly countries [and] invited him to Riyadh,” tweeted Mohammad Jamshidi, the Iranian president’s deputy chief of staff for political affairs, adding that “Raisi welcomed the invitation”.

The two regional heavyweights announced on March 10 a Chinese-brokered deal to restore ties seven years after they were severed.

Audi is the latest automaker to dip into upscale e-bikes. The brand has introduced an electric mountain bike that takes design cues from its RS Q E-tron E2 electric Dakar Rally racer while promising high-end specs. Built by Italy's Fantic (Autoblog notes it's based on the XMF 1.7), it combines a 250W Brose motor (similar to that for Harley-Davidson's Serial 1 Bash/Mtn) with Fantic's 720Wh battery to deliver a sizeable 66ft/lb of torque.

While Audi isn't providing the top speed or range at this stage, the power pack is decidedly larger than the Bash/Mtn's 529Wh unit, which provides between 30 to 95 miles of range depending on conditions. Like other Brose-powered e-bikes, Audi's model has four levels of electric assistance ranging from a mild Eco through to the all-out Boost mode.

The aluminum frame design uses decidedly different parts than the Porsche eBike lineup beyond the motor and battery. You can expect Braking http://IN.CA.S disc brakes, an Öhlins fork and shock, and Sram components for the chain, shifters and derailleur. You'll also find Italian touches like the Vittoria tires and Sella Italia saddle. The Öhlins gear offers 7.1in of suspension travel versus the XMF 1.7's 6.7in.

The Audi electric mountain bike comes in three sizes, but you'll need to act quickly and carry a large bank balance. The bike is only available as a "limited run" model priced at £8,499 (Over Rs. 2.8 Million) in the UK.

Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Management Committee Najam Sethi took a firm stance on Pakistan’s Asia Cup hosting rights during the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Executive Board meeting held in Bahrain Saturday, making it clear on Jay Shah that if India pulls out of the September event, Pakistan will not take part in the World Cup to be hosted by India in October 2023.

A well-placed source within the ACC has confirmed that Sethi’s tough stance took the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president by surprise. “Najam Sethi told Jay Shah that if India won’t play in Pakistan, we won’t play in India. Najam has given a clear message to the Indian counterpart, who also heads the ACC these days.”

“Sethi’s stance took Jay Shah by surprise as he was not expecting this,” a source privy to the ACC meeting told.
