The Pagadian City International College - Multimedia Arts Department headed by Audrey B Cabato in partnership with the Community Affairs Dev't. Division Nutrition of the City Mayor's Office led by Ms. Mary Joy Pama Calimbo, gracefully hosted "The BASIC COMPUTER LITERACY PROGRAM," of the 72 Barangay Nutrition Scholars representing the different barangays of the city on 23-24 July 2024 at the Computer & MMA Laboratories of PCIC, San Jose Heights, Pagadian City.

The computer literacy program is aimed at capacitating the city's BNS to acquire skills to use the tools and technology for their reportorial requirements to the National Nutrition Council IX.

Mr. Robert Peter S. Ancheta - OIC College Administrator graced the training as he encouraged the participants to learn and embrace technology.

This initiative of the LGU with the full support of Mayor Samuel Co empowered participants of the different Barangay Nutrition Sections of the city to learn in technical skills for our city's nutrition data management.

SINE SUGBO SA PAGADIAN SHORT STORIES IN MOTION BY OUR LOCALS

FILMMAKERS:

Jeff D. Balsamo is a 3rd year BS Computer Engineering student at MSU-IIT, originally from Pagadian City. He is an emerging filmmaker based in Iligan City, working with Dalumat Films Production—a notable film group consisting of non-film students that has earned several national achievements.

Arnold Capute is a storytelling filmmaker from Pagadian City, Zamboanga Del Sur. He is currently pursuing a degree in multimedia arts at Cebu Institute of Technology University, a program covering various fields in media and traditional art. Starting with only a refurbished camera, Arnold's innovative ideas led him to create short films featuring friends and family, quickly earning recognition for his storytelling talent.
Despite initial challenges and limited resources, Arnold's determination and unique perspective shone through. He actively participates in wedding, debut, birthday, and other filmmaking events to expand his videography skills. This talented young filmmaker has participated in prestigious film festivals, including the 24hr Binisaya Film Festival (2023), where his film "Kargo" achieved 1st runner-up at the UNCHR Film Festival, and the Cebu Institute of Technology Film Festival, where his film "Kwerdas" received the Core Film Choice Award. He also showcased his work at the 48hr Binisaya Film Festival (2023).

Trishtan Perez is a q***r filmmaker from Brgy. Balangasan, Pagadian City. He graduated from the University of the Philippines Film Institute, having completed his elementary education at Ballesteros Sr. Elementary School and secondary education at Zamboanga del Sur National High School. His short film "I Get So Sad Sometimes (2021)," shot in Pagadian City, won Best Film at the QCinema International Film Festival and has been featured in various international and q***r film festivals. Recognized by CNN Philippines as one of the “Eight emerging Filipino directors to look out for,” Trishtan has also participated in the Interfilm Script Pitch (Germany), Objectifs Short Film Incubator (Singapore), Full Circle Lab, Ricky Lee Scriptwriting Workshop, and Mindanao Film Lab. He currently works as a Creative Associate at Star Cinema.

Venz Bolotaolo Hawani is a 4th year BFA Cinema student at the University of San Carlos. Born and raised in Pagadian City, he completed his basic education at Pagadian City Pilot School and Saint Columban College High School. He initially pursued studies in Information Technology abroad but returned to the Philippines to follow his passion for filmmaking. His film "Balod sa Kinabuhi" has been recognized by various film festivals, including the Binisaya Film Festival, Mindanao Film Festival, and the Film Development Council of the Philippines. He has also actively participated in and completed different film challenges such as the 24-hour Cinemathon and Fiesta Kucha 48-hour Film Festival.

PCIC MULTIMEDIA ARTS PROGRAM ASSESSMENT

The PCIC welcomes CHEDRO-IX Regional Quality Assessment Team (RQAT) headed by MMA Education Supervisor Ms. Clarissa Alvarez for Bachelor in MultiMedia Arts Program Inspection on May 30, 2024.

The city’s Pagadian City International College (PCIC) graciously hosted the Commission on Higher Education IX’s Regional Quality Assessment Team (RQAT) for an in-depth review of its Bachelor in MultiMedia Arts Program.

The RQAT visit aims to evaluate the academic standards, curriculum design, and overall program effectiveness, ensuring PCIC continues to provide topnotch education to its students. This assessment is crucial for maintaining high educational standards and aligning the program with industry needs.

PCIC Admin headed by Robert Peter Ancheta, MMA Program Head Audrey B Cabato, other Program Heads, Faculty, staff and students showcased their facilities and innovative teaching/learning methods.

Also present were City Councilor Dodong Duterte as SP Committee Chairman on Education and City Councilor Priscilla “Doctora Dicky” Fernandez who represented Mayor Sammy Co in the exit conference at the Conference Hall of the City Mayor’s Office.
The visit was an opportunity for PCIC to highlight its commitment to excellence in multimedia arts education in this part of the island of Mindanao while the insights gained will help the institution enhance its program further ensuring graduates are well-prepared for their choice of careers in the multimedia industry.

PCIC continues to strive for academic excellence and innovation in the field of multimedia arts.
