is National Indigenous Peoples Month as per Presidential Proclamation No. 1906, s. 2009. In this month-long celebration we recognize as part of our collective consciousness, to protect the rights of Indigenous Cultural Communities/ Indigenous Peoples (ICCs/IPs).

We are posting the winning works of our Faculty members during the ๐Ÿ†106th BSU Founding Anniversary Celebration- CREATIVE WORKS OF BSU EMPLOYEES EXHIBIT on September 26-30, 2022.

The 'Gangsa' is one of the most important cultural materials in the Cordillera. This is the highlight of the essay 'Ang Gangsa' by Badongen-Mede. Read and feel the tone of urgency to recollect the keen experience of a son longing to return to his roots.

PanCAH-Iwan Essay

Enjoy the School Midterm break set within this week from October 10 to 15. Study shows that this academic intervention increases the self-motivation and provides opportunities for students to rest and cure from malaise mediated by technology and this ongoing pandemic.

While we are still grappling with Covid-19 crisis and economic inflation, students would take this intervention policy to have holistic familial support and participate in the following naturalistic, sporting and cultural activities.

1. Going out in the Sun โ€“ Sunlight nourishes and warms. While it rains in the afternoon, during clear day, visit coffee shops, parks or wonder in the country side. Early last week, students after finishing their exams have set out already to go home in their provinces to visit their families. Unlike the polluted and crowded city, the nice mountainous places clears thinking; beach banks calms breathing; and just the mere sight of the provincial houses could warm the heart. Go out in the sun and be more optimistic in life. Bring back the vibrance of your youth and detox from stress and find more lighted places to spend the week.

2. Sweat it Out- Aside from visiting fitness gyms, for urbanites, our school have wide running tracks and mowed playing fields to spend their favorite sports. Many students are bathing under the valley sun and set relief in finding new friends and bonding with their classmates. The Mt. Kalugong, rock mountains and low-clouds in the morning provide a scenery for enthusiasts to sweat out and tone their muscles. For some, this week would be an opportunity to help in the gardens and earn some cash.

3. Books, Films and Arts โ€“ Participate in cultural affairs whether in reading your favorite books, binging at the Netflix series or participating in art galleries. The Tam-awan Village celebrates a week-long festival, students may care to see. While those who like to see the big screen may also visit book places around Baguio. A personal culture of channeling the creative within makes the student develop unique perspectives that illuminate many truths in life.

Of utmost importance is for students to spend time with their family. The week is wonderful to increase their capacity to love and be more hopeful in the study.

The poem "Fancy Flight" by Karen OL has beautiful images and moving meaning. ๐Ÿฅ‡ She uses 'ekphrasis' to describe vividly the works of art such as painting and sculpture. We also have included two more of her poems "Sabel" and "For Babel" for our students and teachers to enjoy.

October 5 is !
We salute all our teachers: both currently teaching or enjoying their retirement, we ponder on their wonderful gifts in our life and their good deeds that lighten our path.
Here is a featured story published in the maiden Issue of Pancah Iwan that reminisces two of our great teachers in the college- Maam Lourdes Bela-o and Sir Gabriel Tano.
