The College of Home Economics and Technology (CHET) was abuzz with excitement on October 31st, 2024, as the annual Battle of the Bands took center stage. Students from various departments transformed the campus into a vibrant music haven, showcasing their musical talents and fostering a spirit of camaraderie.

From soulful ballads to high-energy rock anthems, each band representing a different department poured their hearts and souls into their performances. The audience, a mix of students, faculty, and community members, cheered, danced, and sang along, creating an electrifying atmosphere.

The judges, a panel of esteemed music professionals, had the difficult task of evaluating each performance based on musicality, stage presence, and crowd engagement. The competition was fierce, with every band vying for the coveted title of "Best Band."

In the end, the CHET Avenue band emerged victorious, receiving thunderous applause and accolades for their exceptional performance. However, the true victory lay in the shared passion for music that united the CHET community. The event was a testament to the vibrant culture of the college, a celebration of creativity, and a powerful reminder of the unifying power of music.

After an impressive Preliminary Competition last November 9, streamed live on Facebook, these exceptional individuals have advanced to the next stage.

The Top 15 will proceed to the Grand Coronation Night on November 16 at Bahay ng Alumni, UP Diliman.

"𝐊𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐚 𝐅𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐚 𝐧𝐠 𝐈𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐚 𝐚𝐭 𝐊𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐫𝐚" was the theme for this year's HRT Week that was held on October 2-4, 2024 at the New CHET Laboratory Building and the RSDC Building. Students of Hospitality and Tourism Management from all levels showcased their amazing abilities and skills that they've gained through their studies and experience in this engaging three day event.

The program was officially launched with a captivating speech from Mr. Buddy Shane Pacuyan about "Shaping Gender Sensitivity Approaches to Culinary & Food Preparation among Hospitality Management and Tourism Students."

Multiple activities took place the following days that involved cooking, baking, drink mixing, and other creative skills like drawing and photography. The event covered numerous talents, giving students the chance to exhibit their skills they've honed. The event also included group competitions to encourage teamwork and leadership skills. Lastly, the program included a Mascot Competition involving all levels and sections of both HM and Tourism as well as an HRT Got Talent giving light to marvelous singers and dancers amongst the crowd.

On October 17, 2024, Ms. Hanna Lei Pacito, a BS Entrepreneurship specialized in Apparel and Fashion Enterprise student, was awarded as the Champion of the YEP MARITES Regional Business Pitch Competition 2024 organized by DTI and CHED. She also won the most innovative product award with her modular fashion business concept "Silpo Silpo"

3. Posters must be original and created specifically for this competition and it must be related to the theme.

4. The contestant will bring their own materials.

5. Any medium can be used, including paints, markers, colored pencils, pastels and ¼ illustration board.

6. Only the contestants are allowed in the contest venue. The time of the competition is 3:30-4:30p.m. at the CHET Function Hall.

𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐊 || 𝟐𝟓𝐭𝐡 𝐅𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐀𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐒𝐔-𝐂𝐌𝐏𝐂!! 🥳🎉

The country is also experiencing the prevalence of these diseases that is often linked to unhealthy dietary patterns. The Department of Human Nutrition super headed the community extension with the Department of Hospitality Management, conducted the activity focused on nutrition assessment and counseling, lecture, and cooking demonstration. It aimed at empowering the Cooperative members with the knowledge and skills necessary to improve their dietary and overall health.

This was conducted on September 21, 2024, at BSU Gymnasium, where the 25th Founding Anniversary of the BSU-CMPC was celebrated with the BSU-CMPC Members as participants. The activities consisted of Registration and Filling out Assessment Forms, Nutritional Assessment such as weight and height measurement, Nutrition Counseling with one-on-one consultation with a service provider (RND) to receive personalized advice on maintaining a balance diet, Nutrition Lecture on Nutritional Guidance for Filipinos (NGF) were facilitated by Ms. Jessielyn Pantalone, ND Chairperson, and Evaluation.

A Cooking Demonstration on nutritious and delicious Ilokano recipes were demonstrated by Dr. Amelia G. Bawang, Department Chair, and Dr. Rodeliza Flores, Faculty Member/AJAM Adviser. For the Kordillera recipe, it was demonstrated by Ms. Frejobel Langpaoen.
The cooking demonstration was assisted by the AJAM Officer/Members all BSHM 3 namely; Alma Atonen, Aira Bautista, Melissa Bacani and Rimie Garcia.

The event is also aligned with several key United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 2: Zero Hunger, SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, and SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production.

Announcement:

The BSU Community Parade, Student Street Dance Competition, and Student Stage Presentation are cancelled.

Since there is no suspension of work in government offices by the Local Chief Executive, the BSU Foundation Anniversary Culminating Program will proceed as scheduled at the University Gymnasium, starting at 8:45 AM. All employees are enjoined to attend.

Attendance will be monitored by the ushers and usherettes. Offices must ensure that a skeletal workforce is maintained to continue essential operations.

On August 12-22, 2204, the La Trinidad LGU together with the LYDO and DTI La Trinidad hosted the 'Linggo ng Kabataan and MSME Week Celebration'. The local government unit continues to implement innovative and long-term programs and activities for youth, entrepreneurs, and others. The BSU-CHET Entrepreneurship fourth-year students joined the event to showcase their local and innovative products.

A vibrant gathering aimed at recognizing the contributions of MSMEs. Entrepreneurs, local government officials, and community members gathered for a celebration of creativity, resilience, and the entrepreneurial spirit. A series of workshops and seminars followed, covering topics such as costing and pricing, the 2nd Youth Congress, the MSME Summit, and an upcycling skills workshop. Local experts and successful entrepreneurs shared their ideas, giving participants vital skills and knowledge.

𝑳𝑶𝑶𝑲 || "𝑨 𝑮𝒍𝒊𝒎𝒑𝒔𝒆 𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒐 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑴𝒓. 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑴𝒔. 𝑻𝒐𝒖𝒓𝒊𝒔𝒎 𝑺𝒄𝒓𝒆𝒆𝒏𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒"

On August 27, 2024, the Department of Tourism Management hosted the much-anticipated Mr. and Ms. Tourism Screening at the CHET LB Function Hall. The event showcased the talents, beauty, and intelligence of 11 candidates who vied for the prestigious titles.

The event kicked off with an opening ceremony that set the tone for the evening. The hosts introduced the judges, and the audience was buzzing with anticipation. The 11 candidates took the stage for the first time, dressed in their best, exuding confidence and charisma. Each one was ready to represent the tourism department with pride. They showcased their unique talents, ranging from dance performances to musical renditions. This segment allowed them to express their creativity and passion.

The most nerve-wracking part of the evening—the Q&A segment—challenged the candidates to think on their feet and express their views on various topics related to tourism and cultural promotion. After all the segments were completed, the judges had the difficult task of selecting the finalists. They took their time to ensure that the most deserving candidates were chosen.

The moment everyone had been waiting for—the announcement of the finalists. The tension in the room was palpable as the names were called. The Mr. and Ms. Tourism Screening 2024 was a night to remember, filled with moments of inspiration and celebration. It was more than just a competition—it was a showcase of the future ambassadors of tourism, ready to promote the beauty and culture of our nation.
