Waatea Music has been established to provide a platform to produce, release and support traditional and contemporary Māori music in both Māori and English languages. The record label has been set up by south Auckland’s Manukau Urban Māori Authority (MUMA) who will provide management and mentoring services to artists; production studio Woodcut Productions who have nurtured and developed artistic ta

lent in New Zealand for more than 15 years; and urban Maori radio broadcaster Radio Waatea based at Ngā Whare Waatea Marae in Māngere.

Waka ama contact James Papali'i
Waka will paddle from Okahu Bay after blessing from Ngati Whatua Iwi and Panmure wharf Tamaki Outrigger Club and arrive at Panama Road. After karakia with Tainui kaumatua waka this year will be towed...and paddlers will walk the 5k through Porrage Road Otahuhu to Mangere Inlet ..waka then race 3km to arrive at mangere bridge welcomed by Tainui and Ngati whatua. This year after powhiri and prize giving...there will be a hand over section from MUMA board rep to Tainui rep paving the way for next year's main sponsor being Tainui. Portage crossing trust rep will present a taonga to MUMA and Tainui reps for the day.
