From managing cash flow pressures to dealing with market volatility, Pacific business owners face the realities of keeping their operations afloat every day. When landlords, tax obligations, supplier payments, and staff wages all converge at once, it’s entrepreneurs who bear the burden of finding the funds and securing projects to keep their businesses running—ensuring their teams remain employed and the business cycle continues.

In a year of economic uncertainty and mounting pressures, Pacific business owners in New Zealand are taking matters into their own hands.

Today was all about important conversations and meaningful connections!

The day began with our talented accountant, Sabrina Reupena from Oyonnx, ensuring Bluwave’s books are in excellent shape and our IRD requirements are fully in order. Financial health is crucial to achieving our vision and goals, so a big fa’afetai to Sabrina for her expertise and guidance.

Later, I attended a meaningful talanoa with Dr. Penni Wolfgramm and Tuiloma Lina-Jodi Samu from the Ministry for Pacific Peoples at The Cause Collective in Manukau. Our discussion focused on how we can preserve and celebrate our beautiful Māori and Pasifika languages in today’s modern world. From digital innovations to community-led initiatives, the ideas shared were both inspiring and impactful.

These are the conversations that energise our work at Bluwave—to lead with purpose and ensure our culture and heritage remain strong for generations to come.

Reflecting on our time in Siumu, in collaboration with Kingdom Productions and Samoa Video Pro, we witnessed an entire village come together to meticulously plan and prepare for the arrival of King Charles III.

We wish to clarify recent misinformation suggesting that Bluwave and Moana Media Group (MMG), which includes two other local media companies in Samoa, were awarded a single-source contract of 2.5 million tala.

This claim is FALSE and INCORRECT. Bluwave and Moana Media Group (MMG) were contracted and funded solely by the Atanoa family of Siumu, under the leadership of the Sa’o, Atanoa Tusi Faafetai. Neither Bluwave nor Moana Media Group (MMG) received any payment from the Government of Samoa for CHOGM.

We encourage this individual to verify his information to avoid making false claims and to consult with the Samoan Government regarding the actual recipient of that tender.

Regarding La’auli’s son holding an umbrella over his father’s head—that’s simply what sons and daughters do for their parents. Maybe the concept is foreign to you, but here in Samoa, e tautua le atalii i lona Tama, and no one can stop that.
