On the display of wares on the road by the traders, "the Ministry of Environment and Solid Minerals has carried out lots of sensitization on the illegal market across the state".

He said that ministry of Environment is working hand-in-hand to ensure that disposal of waste across the state is well managed and the populace educated on indiscriminate disposal of refuse on the road.

EC Global set for launch of crypto currency, BRANDO COIN
.. commence 60 Days Presale !

The founder of E-commerce platform, EC Global Mall, Ambassador Ubong Brownson on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 played host to journalists at the company's head office in Uyo to brief them on his new innovation 'Brando Coin' and what value that would create in the crypto currency market.

He shed light on cryptocurrency as a digital currency that can be used to buy goods and services, but uses an online ledger with strong cryptography to secure online transactions, much of the interest is to trade for profit, with speculators at times when prices rise.

Ambassador Brownson in his remark frowned at the backwardness by many third world or African countries when it comes to the graduation to digital financial solutions, through crypto currency. He said his company is leading a charge to ensure that Nigerians, precisely Akwa Ibomites cash in on the revolution in the digital economy.

Fielding questions from members of the press on his experience and plans to sustain the coin, Mr Ubong boasted of his training with a Malaysian professional as far back as 2013, which has given him a wealth of experience needed to run the venture.

Speaking further, he also denounced fear of investment in crypto currency and forex, owing to regulations by government and crash of some trading platforms.

According to him, "Brando Coin is just like Bitcoin and other coins. It is important for people to know that coin does not crash, it is platforms that crash, the coin is a way of securing funds in a way that will not be affected by inflation, as I am talking to you, even the Central Bank of Nigeria is currently working on their own coin, this is the new way to go and I feel my people in Akwa Ibom State should not be left behind".

Brando Coin was unveiled alongside the Exchange App, which allows for easy trade of Brando and other coins on the platform. The coin is currently on a 60-Day presale for interested buyers to secure.

Ekid People Demand World-Class Seaport, Affirm part ownership of the seaport land.

Urge Ibom Seaport Implementation Board to ignore distractions.

The people of Ekid nation have challenged the Ibom Seaport managers to ignore unnecessary distractions and deliver “a world class port” that will be of benefit to all.

At a meeting between critical stakeholders and representatives of the Ibom Deep Seaport Implementation Board recently in Eket, the President of Ekid People’s Union (EPU) , Dr Sam Udonsak, also assured the investors in the proposed Ibom Deep Seaport of utmost support, urging them not to be discouraged by “spurious, fictitious and provocative claims made by some parties to the ownership” of the proposed location.

He then commended the choice of location, which covers some portions of the ancestral land of the Ekid people like Okposo 1, Okposo 11, Itak Idim Ekpe, among others.

Recently, there has been renewed claims of exclusion or ownership of the land from some ethnic nationalities. However, Udonsak said: “ For the avoidance of doubt, the land is historically, legally, morally and so on, by every and any consideration the ancestral land of the Ekid people. It would remain so forever”.

Available facts and documents show that as far back as 1918, the Privy Council which was the highest appellate court in the British Empire declared that the present location of the Ibom Deep Seaport, which form what is generally known as Okoiyak, belonged to Ekid people. In 2003, the Federal High Court sitting at Uyo made a pronouncement in suit FHC/UY/C5/53/2003, affirming the 1918 Privy Council decision that the said land belong to Ekid.

However, Udonsak assured the Implementation Board that as a responsible people, EPU was more interested in the developmental impacts the seaport expectedly will bring to the entire state, hence would not join others trying to scare off the investors.

The EPU President endorsed the choice of the Ibom Seaport’s location, saying “it was arrived at after thorough and diligent considerations of the requirement for the port if that caliber”.

Udonsak urged the Implementation Board to adopt a constant dialogue approach with the host communities, including the people of Ekid nation.

The leader of the visiting team, Barr (Mrs) Mfon Usoro, appreciated the maturity of the Ekid people in reacting to an otherwise potentially volatile and sensitive issue as land ownership.

She assured the Ekid people that they will never be left behind and that the location for the seaport was carefully chosen after proper investigations and due diligence.

SPORT NEWS: AKWA UTD SN**CH VITAL POINT IN JOS, STAY TOP OF NPFL LOG

Mfon Patrick

Akwa United's hope of winning the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) crown this season received a major boost on match-day 31 after they picked a valuable point in Jos following a goalless draw with 2017 champions Plateau United on Sunday.

The draw in Jos means that Akwa United have taken four points from a possible six against Plateau United this season, having won the first leg 1-0 in Uyo.

Coach Kennedy Boboye's team went into the game in Jos with high hopes and gave good account of themselves against a hard fighting Plateau United side in what was a classic NPFL showdown.

Coach Boboye opted for a 4-2-3-1 tactical formation with midfielders Marshall Johnson and Ubong Essien playing infront of the back-four, while the trio of Samuel Amadi, Adam Yakubu and Ubong Friday played behind the lone striker Ikechukwu Nwani.

Both teams showed class and matched each other toe-to-toe and created lots of good scoring chances but couldn't find the breakthrough.

Despite losing defender Sampson Gbadebo to injury midway into the first-half, the Promise Keepers were solid at the back as Etboy Akpan, Charles Okafor, Wilson Elu and David Philip provided the needed cover for goalkeeper Adewale Adeyinka.

Midfielders Marshall Johnson and Ubong Essien were on top of their game as they frustrated every plan of their hosts in the middle.

The smooth transition of play from the defense to the midfield saw Ubong Friday, Adam Yakubu and Samuel Amadi flourishing, with some brilliant touches.

Akwa United's best scoring opportunities in the game went the way of Ubong Friday, Ikechukwu Nwani, Samuel Amadi, Adam Yakubu and Abubarka Aliyu, however they were unable to bury their chances.

Goalkeeper Adewale Adeyinka put up a spectacular performance and made some eye-catching saves to deny Plateau United and in the process announced himself as the safest hands between the sticks in the league with 15 clean sheets in 26 matches.

With seven matches left to be played before the end of the season, the Promise Keepers have recorded 15 victories, 12 draws with just four loses in 31 league games and boast of a healthy goal difference of +20.

The two-time Federation Cup Champions have so far accumulated 57 points and are two points clear of second-placed Kano Pillars.

Akwa United now turn their attention to their Aiteo Cup game against NNL side Gateway FC slated for Wednesday at the FIFA Goal Project pitch in Abuja before returning home to face Enyimba International on match-day 32 of this campaign on Sunday.

NDDC is for all Niger Deltans, Says Efiong Akwa

The Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, has reiterated the importance of giving opportunities to persons living with disability, in its efforts at making the development of the Niger Delta region integrative, inclusive and sustainable.

Speaking at the presentation of letters of engagement to twelve new employees of the Commission who are physically challenged in Port Harcourt, Interim Administrator/CEO of NDDC, Mr. Efiong Okon Akwa, said the Commission was determined to harness the potentials of all Niger Deltans in order to make the region a better place.

Mr. Akwa said that NDDC “is perhaps the first Federal Government agency to begin the implementation of the Act on persons living with disability which was passed into law in 2019,” adding: “This shows that we are human and we understand and care for others, thereby impacting the lives of people in the region, regardless of their physical condition.”

The NDDC Boss stated: “It is our view that this gesture the government has shown to you will prompt you to extend same to your friends and relatives. We want you to be ambassadors of this government, this Commission and the people of the Niger Delta, so as to serve as a source of motivation to others.”

Mr. Akwa gave credit to President Muhammadu Buhari for directing the agency to intervene, not only in physical infrastructure projects, but also in human capacity building.

“By passing the disability rights law the government,” he said, “has committed to ensuring that people living with disability enjoy their human rights. This is to instil a sense of responsibility, recognition and pride, as well as ownership, in persons living with disability. That is why we are intervening in your lives, and in the lives of all Niger Deltans.”

Mr. Akwa noted that the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, who forwarded government’s approval for the engagement, had stated that “President Muhammadu Buhari is aware of what you are passing through and is doing his best to ensure that government stands by you. It is not your choice to live with disability.”

He added: “It is a condition you found yourselves in. But it will not stop you from adding your quota to the development of the Niger Delta, Nigeria and humanity.”

Also speaking at the ceremony, the Director of Human Resources of the Commission, Barr. Silas Anyanwu, said that "this is an epoch-making event, because the NDDC has shown, as perhaps the first government agency to give employment to persons living with disability, that we are mindful of all Niger Deltans, and that we are prepared to work with everyone to develop this region.”

He called on them to give their best in their duties, stating that while the Commission will provide every support to make their work easier, “no one would receive any special favours or considerations. It is important for you to know that we expect the best from you, because to whom much is given, much is expected.”

The regional chairman of the Joint Association of People Living with Disability, Mr. Simon Bidei, thanked the Commission for coming to the aid of persons living with disability, noting that “it was the first of its kind.”

He stated: “NDDC has made history today, by giving us the opportunity to serve. We are grateful to President Muhammadu Buhari, to the honourable minister and the interim administrator for remembering us and knowing that we are living with capability.”

He called on other organisations to emulate NDDC, noting that the Commission had taken into consideration the needs of persons living with disability in constructing the new headquarters building.
