FORMER OPERATIONS MANAGER OF ROYALLINE GROUP NABBED IN HISTORIC FRAUD

An ex-staff of Royalline Group, purportedly the Head of Operations, has been arrested and detained for questioning at the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), Ikoyi, Lagos State, on allegations/petition of fraud leveled against her by the Management of the company.

Reliable sources disclosed that the suspect – Miss Valentine Tokoni Amakari (26), admitted during interrogation that she allegedly committed the fraud valued at about N13.2m (Thirteen Million, Two Hundred Thousand Naira).

Insights reveal that the overzealous staff used her computer system access privileges to build up fake customer deposits receipts, then have proceeds transferred directly to her bank accounts.

In other circumstances, Miss Valentine devised and used designated fronts and errand individuals to fetch cash directly over the counters for onward delivery to her.

Operating with some accomplices, Miss Valentine was able to employ and sustain her fraud project undetected for years until diligent audit officials’ searchlight was able to detect the anomalies. Her statement has led to the arrest of other accomplices in the crime.

Amount recovered from the kingpin could not immediately be ascertained, but a source familiar with the case says that not less than N1,200,000.00 (One million, Two Hundred Thousand) Naira had been recovered by the Police.

The source confirmed the establishment of a fraud case involving one Val - describing it as bewildering and unsettling to the consternation of staff, even as officials declined an inquiry at Royalline Group head office in Lagos.

The source declined to give further details, referring the enquirer to top management for further comment on the case.

Besides cash, other items recovered were an iPhone 12 Promax worth N750,000 and a Huawei pad worth N500,000.

Ms. Valentine's case has been moved to Chief Magistrate Court 1, Yaba, Lagos State, and the case adjourned till June.

'IF YOU ARE NO LONGER IN LOVE WITH YOUR WIFE, HAND HER BACK TO HER PARENTS' - PASTOR PAUL ENENCHE REACT TO OSINACHI'S DEATH

Divorce Is Not Allowed Under Any Condition, But It Is Better To Be Alive And There Is No Marriage Than To Die Because Of Marriage” – Pastor Paul Enenche

Popular clergyman, Paul Enenche, has said that although divorce is not allowed under any condition, he believes that it is better to be alive and unmarried than to die because of marriage.

In a throwback sermon that’s currently making the rounds online, Paul Enenche, who is said to be the pastor of late gospel singer, Osinachi Nwachukwu, stated this.

He noted that when a man discovers he’s no longer in love with his wife, instead of subjecting her to abuse or killing her, he should hand her back to her father.

In his words,

“My counsel to anybody. If you don’t love anybody’s daughter, instead of killing them, hand them back to their father. Divorce is not allowed under any condition but this is what I believe. It is better to be alive and there is no marriage than for you to die because of marriage. A killer marriage is a nonsense marriage. I am not talking of physical killing. There are people who can finish their wife or husband emotionally, psychologically, mentally. This woman is a shadow of her life”.

I AM A CULTIST, OBA ADMITS

The Senator representing Uyo Senatorial District, Senator Bassey Albert Akpan has explained that he has failed to get the endorsement of Governor Udom Emmanuel because of allegations of his involvement in cultism.

Addressing supporters in Uyo, Senator Albert said he was barred from gaining access to see the Governor because of the stigma against cultists by the Governor.

"They stopped me from getting close to the Governor because of my involvement in CULTISM.

"They keep telling him OBA is a cultist, OBA is a cultist.

"But they forget that I am a cultist for Christ, " the Senator thundered.

Recently, during one of numerous careless outbursts smacking desperation, the Senator had told supporters that nobody can stand on his way to becoming Governor.
His famous phrase, "who born dog" has been roundly condemned by sane people in the state.

STORY OF SARA BAARTMAN; THE SOUTH AFRICAN WOMAN WHO WAS CRUELLY EXPLOITED IN EUROPE AND EXIHIBITED AS A FREAK SHOW OF ATTRACTION IN PARIS MUSEUM 100 YEARS AFTER HER DEATH

Sara Baartman from South Africa was cruelly exploited in Europe by being exhibited as a freak show attraction because of her protruding butt.

She was born in 1789 in the Camdeboo valley in the eastern part of the Cape Colony in South Africa.

In October 1810, although illiterate, Sara 'allegedly signed' a 'contract' with English surgeon William Dunlop and mixed-race entrepreneur Hendrik Cesars, in whose household she worked, saying she would travel to England to take part in shows.

But the men who promised her a life of pride in sharing her culture with the World tricked her, and though she was given pay, she often was at the expense of verbal, sexual, and physical abuse

Apparently, the contract terms were she would travel with Hendrik and Dunlop to England & Ireland to work as a servant, and exhibited for entertainment purposes, she was to receive 'a portion of earnings’ from her exhibitions and be allowed to return to South Africa after 5 years

Sara's buttocks and colouring made her object of fascination by the colonists. She was then brought to London where she was displayed to English audience to view her half naked body displayed in a cage that was about a metre and half high

During her time with Dunlop and Cesar, the campaign against slavery in Britain was in motion and as a result, the treatment of Sara was called to question. Her 'employers' were brought to trial but faced no real consequences

In 1814 Hendrik Cesar, took her to Paris where he sold her to a showman Reaux, a man who showcased animals. After being sold to Reaux she was r***d, and impregnated by him. The child was named Okurra Reaux, and she died at five years of age of an unknown disease.

Her health declined and she died penniless at the age of 26, of unknown causes. Within hours of death, French scientist, Georges Cuvier, was granted permission to dissect her. He paid special attention to her buttocks, private parts and brain

After her death, her body was displayed in a Paris museum for over a 100yrs.

Nelson Mandela in 1995, requested that the French government return the remains of Sara so she could be laid to rest. The process took eight years, as the French had to draft a carefully worded bill that would not allow other countries to claim treasures taken by the French

Finally on the sixth of March 2002, Sara was brought back home to South Africa where she was buried

GOVERNOR UDOM EMMANUEL SACKS AIDE

Special Adviser to the Governor on Grassroots Mobilization, Elder Enefiok Ekefre was on the 1st of March 2022 issued a letter of termination of appointment.

The letter terminating Ekefre’s appointment was signed by the Permanent Secretary, Government House, Dr. Nathaniel Adiakpan.

"I am directed to inform you that with effect from 1st March, 2022, your services will no longer be required. With this letter, your offer of appointment as Honorary Special Adviser, Grassroots”, the letter reads in part.

It is believed that during a rally organized by Youths of Eket Senatorial District in honour of Senator Bassey Albert, Ekefre while addressing the gathering made comments alluding that the governor is running a ‘vulture-like leadership’.

“Don’t allow anybody deceive you, leadership is not about sharing poverty. If you build a gigantic house but your children don’t eat it is not good because there is no patriotism with empty stomach.

“There are two types of people in leadership. One is the hen. The hen scratches the ground to provide food for its chicks. Another type of people of in leadership is the vulture. When the vulture picks food from the ground, it flies up. It is only when it finishes eating the food (devouring the intestines) before it comes back. We don’t want vulture again in Akwa Ibom”, he said.

COURT SENTENCES INFAMOUS KIDNAPPER, EVANS, OTHERS TO LIFE IMPRISONMENT

Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, also known as Evans, and two others, Uchenna Amadi and Okuchuwkwu Nwachukwu, were sentenced to life in prison by the Lagos High Court in Ikeja.

On Friday, Justice Hakeem Oshodi sentenced the trio after convicting them on two charges of conspiracy and kidnapping of Donatus Duru, a businessman.

Maydon Pharmaceuticals Ltd's Managing Director is the victim.

Justice Oshodi found the men guilty after concluding that the prosecution had proven the accusation against them beyond a reasonable doubt.

Because there was insufficient evidence linking Ogechi Uchechukwu and two former Nigerian Army troops, Chilaka Ifeanyi and Victor Aduba, to the crime, the court discharged and acquitted them.

Evans, together with Uche Amadi, Okwuchukwu Nwachukwu, Ogechi Uchechukwu, Chilaka Ifeanyi, and Victor Aduba, were charged with kidnapping Donatus Dunu, the Managing Director of Maydon Pharmaceuticals Limited, on February 14, 2017.

The defendants were accused of committing the alleged crime between February 14 and April 12, 2017, according to the state.

The prosecution informed the court that on April 12, Evans and the other five defendants captured, imprisoned, and collected a ransom of 223,000 euros from Donatus for his release while armed with pistols and other weapons.

The defendants were then arraigned in court by the Lagos State government in August 2017.

According to reports, President Buhari was scheduled to sign the bill into law on Wednesday, despite public anger over the delay.

The bill's signing, however, did not go as planned and was rescheduled for Friday, though sources claimed the President would stick to the new date.

COURT FIXES DATE TO DATE TO HEAR ABBA KYARI'S BAIL APPLICATION

Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court in Abuja has set February 28 to hear the bail plea filed by Abba Kyari, the jailed former commander of the Nigerian Police Force's Intelligence Response Team (IRT), Force Intelligence Bureau.

After counsel for the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Mr Mike Kassa, informed the court on Thursday that the bail application had not been served on him, Justice Ekwo set the date.

Kassa also stated that despite the fact that the applicant counsel had served him with a move on notice, he had not yet received the bail application.

Cynthia Ikenna, Kyari's lawyer, argued that there was proof of service to that effect.

She asked the court to check the court's file for proof of service.

Justice Ekwo asked the applicant's counsel, Ikenna, to serve Kassa in open court after reviewing the court file.

The trial judge then postponed hearing Abba Kyari's bail application until February 28.

REPS CALL FOR IMMEDIATE EVACUATION OF NIGERIANS IN UKRAINE

Nigerians in Ukraine should be evacuated immediately, according to the House of Representatives.

On Thursday, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a military campaign in Ukraine, prompting explosions across the country and warnings from the country's foreign minister that a "full-scale invasion" was underway.

However, lawmakers are concerned that many Nigerian students in Ukraine may be caught in the crossfire.

Representative Ahmed Munir proposed the resolution at plenary on Thursday.

However, other politicians believe it may be too late, as the evacuation should have occurred years ago.

Femi Gbajabiamila, Speaker of the House of Representatives, agreed with a legislator, Leke Abejide, to meet with Allen Onyema, Chairman of Air Peace, to discuss the evacuation of Nigerians from Ukraine by Monday 28th February.

RUSSIA INVADES UKRAINE AS EXPLOSIONS GO OFF IN KYIV

On Thursday, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a military campaign in Ukraine, prompting explosions across the country and warnings from the country's foreign minister that a "full-scale invasion" was underway.

Weeks of intense diplomacy and Western sanctions against Russia failed to deter Putin, who had amassed between 150,000 and 200,000 troops along Ukraine's borders.

According to AFP correspondents, explosions were heard shortly after the announcement in Ukraine's capital, Kyiv, and numerous other locations.

Putin urged Ukrainian soldiers to lay down their weapons and defended the operation by alleging that the government was committing "genocide" in the country's east.

President of the United States, Joe Biden, stated that the world will "hold Russia accountable." Russia's move was criticized by NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg as a violation of international law and a threat to European security.

Putin said that the military operation was necessary to defend people in eastern Ukraine, a claim that the US had warned he would make fraudulently to justify an invasion.

Putin accused the US and its allies of rejecting Russia's requests that Ukraine be barred from joining NATO and that security guarantees be provided to Moscow.

Putin stated that Russia will not occupy Ukraine, but rather "demilitarize" it.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Ukraine's president, released a video message announcing martial law. He informed Ukrainians that the US was enlisting worldwide help to counter Russia's aggression. He urged residents to stay calm and remain home.

Putin’s move came after Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky made an emotional appeal to Russians on Wednesday night not to support a “major war in Europe”.
