**Severe Flooding Devastates Iboko Neighborhoods, Residents Plead for Government Intervention**

Iboko, Akwa Ibom State - July 8, 2024 - Heavy rains fall have caused severe flooding in several neighborhoods of Iboko, a town in Akwa Ibom State. The hardest hit areas include Offot Offot Street, Udoton Street, and Nkember Lane, where residents are now facing extensive damage to their homes and property.

Uniuyo Shuttle Bus Caught Fire
One of the buses used for the campus shuttle bus was today burnt to ashes at the entrance of the University Permanent Site Campus in Uyo Akwa Ibom State.

Statement from an eyewitness:

I was on my way into the Campus for the Induction and Inauguration event of Yali Network Nigeria [Akwa
Ibom] when I sighted the scene.
According to the driver, who drives the car on hire purchase, he was driving into the school when heard a sound like exploration inside the front bonnet of the bus and that was all. I'm sure he and the passengers [obviously students] scrambled for safety. And within minutes the car turned into what you are seeing here.
The driver a native of Essien Udim got this bus last year on a hire purchase arrangement valued at 2.
500,000 from a man from Uruan LGA. According to him, he is just a few months into the business and this happened meaning he had not even paid a reasonable amount of his entitlement to the bus owner.
It had been a long time since I saw a grown man shed tears. I watched helplessly.
