The major sources of peer pressure are Internal and External

Internal is the kind that generates from the person .

Have you ever seen people who just feeled pressured and agitated when things aren't going as planned? I'm sure you've been in that situation where you have limited time to get a lot of things done or make money and you would just do anything to make it work, that's INTERNAL PRESSURE.

This pressure comes from wanting to meet up your target, it could be financial target, academic target and any target.

External is generated from others or your environment. You necessarily don't feel the need to do certain things but because people around you are either doing it or compelling you to do it. In this instance, you hear things like "my friends are doing it".

There are two types of Peer Pressure

The Negative Peer Pressure
Negative peer pressure is when someone who is a friend or part of a group you belong to makes you feel that you have to do something to be accepted.
As simple as it’s sounds, Negative Peer Pressure has led many young persons into destruction.

The Positive Peer Pressure
Positive peer pressure is when someone's peers encourage them to do something positive or push them to grow in a beneficial way. Positive Peer Pressure pushes you to your best.

There are two terms that makes up this word "Peer Pressure".
Peer is a noun and also a verb in some sentences but in this context, Peer is a noun which means one that is of equal standing with another especially one belonging to the same societal group which is usually based on age,grade,legal status,abilities,qualifications,background and social status.

The next term is "Pressure".
It is a verb which means a continuous physical force exerted on or against an object by something in contact with it.
It can also be said to be the use of persuasion, intimidation,threats or the act of coercing or influencing someone or a group of people into doing something.
It is also the condition of distress,oppression,affliction to do something through force or necessity by physical,mental or intellectual means.
It is a force that compels.

Peer pressure is the influence that individuals within a social group exert on each other to conform to certain behaviors, attitudes, or expectations. It can be positive or negative, shaping individuals' choices and actions based on the desire to fit in or gain approval from their peers.

Peer pressure is a feeling that one must do the same things as other people of one's age and social group in order to be liked or respected by them.

Ever wondered why people over time begin to portray characters completely different and contrary to their upbringing?

Apostle Selman once said 'if you are in the midst of 4 foolish people, you obviously didn't count well because they're 5' I'm certain you know who the fifth is.
Staying with people that smoke, you necessarily don't have to smoke to smell like one because there's bound to be a rub off from their stench. All these illustrations are to pin point the fact that we eventually look like those we move along with.

Most times, you don't really want to be like them or do the things to do but because of the popular saying 'everybody's doing it' you will eventually start. In our choice of friends, we often forget that the people we surround ourselves with have a very huge influence on us directly and indirectly and things we don't necessarily associate with becomes normal.

Alot of deceptive ideas are been circulated all around and has taking part in framing the mindset of many young people.

The following ideas below are totally wrong and shouldn't be welcomed.

1. S*x for a young girl stops menstrual pain.
2. Virginity is old-fashioned.
3. Men hate Virgins, they love women with experience.
4. Abstinence from premarital s*x can lead to complications during delivery and infertility.
5. Premarital s*x is a requirement for a good marriage.
6. You need to test if your spouse is potent.
7. S*x is a way of showing appreciation.
8. Just this one time.
9. Don't bother about pregnancy, I will marry you.
10. If you no fit hold body, use Condoms.

These statements above has served as a means of deception. Don't fall for any of it.

It was like every other day and I would cook up every lie possible just to be permitted to visit him. We agreed to meet that day, I woke up early did all my chores and waited till 11 am so I don't attract questions for leaving early.

"Mommy, I'm going to see Aunty Joy she asked me to come over", my mom suspecting nothing would always allow me without further questions. I go there and we talked for a while, at this point urges were rising and we could literally do anything but not break the h***n.... I wanted to maintain virginity.

I got home that evening but unlike every other day I felt defiled, the h***n was still intact but I felt off. I felt in unclean and guilty for reasons I didn't understand but I strongly ignored. I couldn't get enough of that day so I already called to tell him I'll be coming over the next day.

The feeling of guilt became heavier than normal but then, I already promised. I slept and woke up to the strangest dreams "a dirty temple" repeatedly reflected everywhere. I woke up that morning and kept hearing and seeing "a dirty temple".

His calls began coming unstoppably, it was enough to go but when I remembered the dream and contrasted with the pleasure, My Hormones said go, I said No.

I am honestly at a loss. I love God, but I cannot continue to ask for forgiveness over and over and over for the same thing.I know I need help, but I don’t know how to get it. I know that God has so much more planned for my life than this. But this sin continues to conquer me".

This is my story.

Ever since I got involved in the act it has been from one struggle to another. This could also be your story, You try and try, but it never seems to be enough.

Is there anything more discouraging than losing the fight against lust? It saps your spiritual passion. It makes your faith feel hollow. It stifles prayer. It colors your whole view of your walk with God. At moments you’re so overwhelmed by shame that God seems a million miles away. Not just that It ruins your mind and conscience. It enslaves the victim, It becomes very hard to stop this act. Some people will even start to justify themselves since they are bound by the enemy. It makes you prone to infections and diseases, it increases the chances of ma********on, It also increases the chances of abortion. This are just a few effect of S*xual Immorality.

I've been intentional about breaking out of this addiction but I still see myself going back.

I've fought addiction for years, applied all measures possible but it's not working.

I have given up the struggle with Addiction because all the efforts to come out have proved abortive.

Nothing is working, Nothing will work.

I always see myself going back to it no matter how hard I try.

We've all become aquatinted with the word *Addiction*, S*xual means anything related to s*x which includes Po*******hy, Ma********on, Having S*x timelessly with different partners.

Like they say, little drops of water makes an ocean. The same is applicable with this kind of addiction. It doesn't just begin with something indulging in the act, it starts from somewhere.

To some people, it begins by coming across movie scenes, to some who live in small houses it begins with seeing their parents or guardians engaging it, to some it's a result of r**e, some got into it as a result of pressure either from their peer or parents or guardian, some were abused, some gree up in families where it's a norm and some were forced into it.

Whichever way a person gets involved in it does not justify the act as it has negative influence and such person. To those who have been struggling with this, there are few steps that could help you come out

📌 Forgive Yourself
Sometimes the guilt of such act, how you started, how many years you've practiced it, how many years you've wasted. The thought of your mistake, it's okay to feel bad but *Forgive Yourself*. Everyone makes mistakes and this is your mistake and it can only be a past tense if you decide to leave it behind.

📌 Change Your Environment
It is not just limited to where to stay, move away from people that encourage you to go into such act, change the kind of movies you see. Remove everything that connects you with such life or reminds you of it.

📌 Stop 🛑
There are lots of things you need to *stop*.
Stop entertaining negative thoughts, Stop hanging around with people you know would take you back, Stop portraying lifestyles that makes you still look like what you used to be, Stop engaging in conversations that would link you to it. Stop everything that you need to stop.

📌 God Love You!
Yes, he does! Irrespective of what you've done God loves you. He has been eagerly waiting for you because there are so many beautiful things he wants to do through you. There are many people he wants to deliver through you. He has never hated you!

📌 Rebuke the Devil
This is a long process that you may not be able to scale through under days. Within the period of your growth,there would be urges, zeal to go back,to give up on your journey but that's not of God.
Rebuke the Devil! He doesn't want to see you grow so rebuke him

📌 Gain Control Over Your Mind and Yourself
Don't let this little thing control you anymore so gain control over your thoughts. What you think, what you permit to come into your mind.

Negative addictions can't be overcome by deliverance.

Any act of deliverance from an addiction that won't bring a change of mind will end a waste.

This doesn't mean that deliverance is powerless, if you'll get the person delivered, ensure to disciple the person and the person must be Intentional about renewing his or her mind.

If the mind isn't renewed, with time, what the mind pictures, your life will get featured in it.

Starve the appetite, stay away from what triggers the negative addiction.

Don't just starve it to keep the mind empty, starve the mind from negative addictions and feed it with the Word.

When the mind is blank, the devil helps you feed it

Some sins were committed because you're idle. Get something to do.

If you're alone at home, maximize it.

Dealing with S*xual Addiction>>>>>>

1. GUARD YOUR MIND: A common mistake humans make is to think that s*xual Addiction hinges solely on what we do with our bodies. This is not entirely true. It all starts with our minds.
If we don't entertain in our minds thoughts that will make us break our s*xual integrity, then our bodies won't express it. Our thoughts fuels our actions and our lives moves in the direction of it.

So let's ask ourselves, "what's my mind interacting with?" "What kind of content am I exposing my mind to?"

2. YOUR NIGHT TIME STRATEGY: The night time is a dangerous time for a believer who's not disciplined and has a track record of struggling with s*xual Addiction.
Things like ma********ng, watching po*******hy, s*xting, sending nudes, lustful thoughts and interacting with S*xual contents will soon become a night time routine if one isn't careful.
What's your night time strategy????
At night, we choose to;
God
and meditate on the scripture.
(in tongues and in your understanding)
to a sermon/message
offline early and keep your devices away

Doing so, you uproot the strongholds of s*xual addiction and grow intimacy with the Holy Spirit.

3. WHO'S INFLUENCING YOU????
Seriously, who or what's influencing you???
We expose ourselves to entertainment that's largely ungodly, conversations that reinforce a life of compromise, songs that makes our souls feels good but damage, books that infiltrate our minds negatively.
Instead, embrace Godly friends that have Godly influence.

4. YOUR BODY IS NOT FOR SEXUAL ADDICTION: This tip is so fundamental that if it cracked early enough, the flag of s*xual purity will be held so high as every other principle rest on this foundation.

5. Carry your convinctions into your relationship: For those persons who are into relationships, please do this!
If we are certain that the relationship will lead to marriage, then we must not spoil it. It's important we don't let our guards down even if we're comfortable/relaxed with the special person.

Be careful not to call your special person at vulnerable times of the day via the phone or during video calls.
Avoid sending texts and pictures that are s*xually teasing.
Be careful of being alone with your special person especially when the day is getting dark and also avoiding getting into compromising positions.

6. KNOW YOUR TRIGGERS: it's necessary we know what triggers us. There's still that particular that can tempt us. There's something we're all susceptible to. We have our weaknesses.
Avoid things that trigger s*xual impulse and thoughts. Be on Guard and watch against it!

LASTLY, expose lust and remain accountable for it, deal with the issues now,guard your consecrations, retreat into God, God is not angry with you, have a contrite heart and no rebellion.

1. Admit to yourself, to God, and to another trusted person that you are out of control and this addiction has gotten the best of you. Admit that you are powerless on your own to fix it.

2. Ask God for forgiveness for whatever you have done, and claim it.Receive it as true and real, and get rid of all self condemnation.

3. Believe that God can help you, reach out to him, and totally submit yourself to his care, guidance, direction, and strength. Submit and commit yourself to total obedience to whatever he shows you to do.

4. Take an ongoing inventory of all that is wrong inside yourself, as well as between you and others. Broaden the scope of the self-investigation to include all that you have done wrong. Confess it to God and to someoneelse that you trust.

5. Continually ask God to show you any problem or deficiency in your life that you need to work on. And when he does tell you, follow through and work on it.
