Osun Ex-Gov, Aregbesola Congratulates Nigeria President-Elect Tinubu

JAGABAN: A CALL TO DUTY

I join the leadership of our party, starting from President Muhammad Buhari, GCFR; the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, GCON; the National Chairman of our Party and other members of the National Executive Council (NEC), members of the Presidential Compaign Council (PCC); other leaders of the party, members nationwide and admirers to congratulate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the President-elect, and Alhaji Kashim Shettima, the Vice President-elect, on their victory at the February 25, 2023 Presidential election.

It has been a long and arduous journey, from the Primrose Circle, the Senatorial bid and victory, Justice Forum/June 12/NADECO struggle, to Sunday Adigun/BACO Gubernatorial struggle and victory, the governorship experience and MANDATE era in Lagos, the resurgence of progressive tendency in Western Nigeria, consolidation of progressive influence in Nigeria and now the Presidency. You deserve every commendation as we equally give glory to God for His mercy.

This victory is a call to duty. It is my wish that with this victory comes the consolidation of the eight years of massive infrastructure development and progressive policies of President Muhammad Buhari's administration, deepening of the democratic process, advancement of social democracy, promotion of party discipline and guaranteeing of better life for all.

TINUBU SETS UP RECONCILIATION COMMITTEE TO MEET ATIKU, OBI AND OTHERS

The President-elect, Bola Tinubu has set up a reconciliation committee to meet with presidential candidates of other political parties.
Rotimi Akeredolu, governor of Ondo state made this known in Abuja on Wednesday, March 1, 2023, during the presentation of the certificate of return to the president-elect, and Kashim Shetima, vice president-elect.

Also, in a statement by his Richard Olatunde, his chief press secretary said Tinubu's election victory reflected the will of Nigerians, adding that every aggrieved person would be met for reconciliation.
He said, "The president-elect has set up committees to meet with the gentlemen who contested in the election for us to start the healing process. I belong to one of the committees. We are going to meet them and appeal to them so that we can work together"

"This is an election that was not padded. People who voted were counted, that is the way I see it, not one which shows millions of votes. You can see the candidates, everyone won 12 states each, it has never been like that before."

Akeredolu maintained that the people of Ondo state voted for Tinubu because they wanted a southern president.

"Ondo people are progressives and we will always, at least, be on the side of progressivism. From the onset, we were at the forefront of clamour for a southern president and so we have to put everything we had into it and we got the support, that is why we are able to make it," he said.

Tinubu was declared the winner of the 2023 presidential election by the Independent National Electoral Commission
(INEC) on Wednesday, March 1, 2023.

Bola Ahmed Tinubu: The Triumph of A Political Titan
By Adeoye Oyekola

The history of Nigeria’s politics cannot be told without mentioning the name of Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Over the years, he has emerged as a political titan, not only in his home state of Lagos but across the country. The recent declaration of his victory in the presidential election has once again highlighted his status as a prominent figure in Nigerian politics.

Tinubu, born on March 29, 1952, in Lagos, is a former Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and former Governor of Lagos State. He is also the National Leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), a political party he played a significant role in forming in 2013. Tinubu’s political career began in the early 1990s when he was elected to the Nigerian Senate. He was also the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Banking, Finance and Appropriation, where he used his position to push for reforms that benefited the Nigerian people.

However, it was his eight-year stint as the Governor of Lagos State that brought him into the limelight. Tinubu was elected as Governor in 1999 and served two terms until 2007. During his tenure, he transformed Lagos State from a city plagued by crime, traffic congestion, and environmental degradation into a modern metropolis. He initiated several projects aimed at improving the lives of the people of Lagos, including the construction of modern roads and bridges, the expansion of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, and the creation of several parks and recreational centers.

Tinubu’s political philosophy is anchored on the principle of democracy, which he believes is the bedrock of good governance. He is known for his unwavering commitment to the rule of law, accountability, and transparency. His political ideology and leadership style have endeared him to many Nigerians, who see him as a principled and visionary leader.

Tinubu’s influence in Nigerian politics is not limited to Lagos State. He is also a prominent figure in the APC, a party he co-founded and has been the driving force behind its success. His strategic political maneuvers and alliances have helped the party win several elections, including the 2015 presidential election that ended the 16-year rule of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

As Nigeria gears up for the 2023 presidential election, Tinubu has once again thrown his hat in the ring. His recent victory in the APC presidential primaries has positioned him as a top contender for the presidency. Tinubu’s supporters see him as a candidate who has the experience, vision, and leadership skills needed to move Nigeria forward.

However, his candidacy has not been without controversy. Tinubu has been criticized by some Nigerians for allegedly enriching himself at the expense of the people of Lagos State. There have also been allegations of corruption and misuse of public funds during his tenure as Governor of Lagos State. These allegations have been denied by Tinubu, who has challenged his accusers to provide evidence to back up their claims.

In conclusion, Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s victory in the presidential primaries has set the stage for what promises to be a fiercely contested presidential election in Nigeria. Whether he wins or not, there is no denying the fact that Tinubu has left an indelible mark on Nigeria’s political landscape. He has shown that with determination, hard work, and a clear vision, it is possible to make a positive impact on the lives of millions of people.
