PDP Chieftain Hails Abiodun Abidoye's Appointment As Senior Special Assistant To Osun State Governor

A chieftain of the People's Democratic Party(PDP)in Boripe LGA, Hon. Abiodun Ajayi has congratulated Barrister John Abolarin Abidoye, on his appointment as Senior Special Assistant(SSA)to the Governor of Osun State.

The PDP stalwart also expressed appreciation to Governor Ademola Adeleke for the appointment.

In a statement signed and issued by Hon. Abiodun Ajayi in Iree town on Wednesday, he described Barrister Abidoye's appointment as a welcome development, stressing that the renowned legal practitioner, possesses the experience, exposure and expertise required to excel in his new assignment.

He said he was happy the Governor found him worthy of such significant role in his government.

Abiodun Ajayi said he is optimistic that Abidoye would excel in his new role as Senator Ademola Adeleke ’s SSA on Governor's Office Affairs giving his antecedence as an efficient administrator.

The Chairman of Oluomo and Sons Limited urged the newly appointed SSA to deploy his energy, tact and skills in ensuring the current political administration in Osun excels.

“It is a call to serve and I trust Barrister Abidoye’s capacity to make a huge success of the new assignment.

"I extend my heartfelt appreciation to the Governor for this great honour and recognition accorded him”, Abiodun Ajayi stated.

The appointment which takes immediate effect was contained in a letter issued by the Secretary to the State Government.

Oyewo Congratulates Tinubu, APC Over Supreme Court Triumph

The immediate past Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Water Resources, Hon. Olubukola Oyewo, on Thursday, congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) on the Supreme Court’s verdict which upheld the President’s victory in the February 25, 2023, presidential election.

The Osun APC chieftain, in a statement he personally signed and issued in Osogbo, rejoiced with President Tinubu and the ruling party for the validation of their victory in the presidential poll.

Hon. Oyewo noted that the apex court’s verdict has removed whatever doubt that might have been raised on the integrity of the last presidential election.

According to him: “Now that the litigations are over, we should all rally as one people behind the President of Nigeria, Bola Tinubu, in his commitment to implement the 'Renewed Hope' agenda designed to achieve a greater nation.

“The opposition should gracefully accept the final ruling of our court of law with a view to supporting the president and his team in the arduous task of nation-building," he said.

Hon. Olubukola Oyewo also congratulated the Vice President, Kashim Shettima, the leadership and members of the APC in Osun as well as the entire nation.

Probe Missing Funds In Oil Sector, SERAP Urges Nigeria's President

The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project( SERAP)has asked President Bola Tinubu to probe alleged missing $15billion oil revenue and N200billion budgeted to repair refineries.

The Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative, NEITI, 2021 report says the sums were missing between 2020 and 2021.

SERAP said anyone found culpable in respect of the missing funds should be prosecution and the money recovered from them.

In a letter dated 23 September 2023 and signed by SERAP Deputy Director, Kolawole Oluwadare, the organisation said: probing and revealing the identify of the thieves would end the impunity of perpetrators.

SERAP said, “As President and Minister of Petroleum Resources, your office ought to be concerned about these damning revelations, by getting to the bottom of the allegations and ensuring that suspected perpetrators are promptly brought to justice, and any missing public funds fully recovered.”

It urged President Tinubu to fully implement the recommendations by NEITI in its 2021 report, and to use any recovered proceeds of crime.

Gunmen Kidnap Benue Commissioner Of Information, Aboh Mathew

25 September 2023

The Benue State Commissioner for Culture, Information and Tourism, Mr. Aboh Matthew has been kidnapped in his Zakibiam residence, Ukum Local Goverment Area of the state.

An eyewitness confirmed the reports that several gunmen stormed the residence of the commissioner and abducted him at about 8pm Sunday evening.

The eyewitness who choose to remain anonymous says that the gunmen came on four motorcycles, ordered everyone in the house including the commissioner's wife and children to lie face down and took him away to an unknown destination on one of the motorcycles.

Mathew Aboh's abductors reportedly compelled him at gun point to sit behind the rider of one of the motorcycles while a gunman sandwitched him.

The matter has been reported to the police.

Mister Aboh was sworn in as a member of the Benue State Executive Council on the 29th of August this year.

He hails from Ukum local government area which has been a major flashpoint of criminal activities with rampant killings and kidnappings in recent times.

The embattled Deputy Governor of Edo State, Philip Shaibu, has pleaded with his principal, Governor Godwin Obaseki, for forgiveness over their political differences that have polarised the state government.

Shaibu made the appeal during an interview session with newsmen in his Benin City residence on Thursday.

He said,"I will use this medium to appeal to Mr Governor, if there is anything that I don’t know that I have done, please forgive me so that we can develop our state together.”

Mohbad's Death: Oluwo Calls For Calm, Says Late Singer Will Get Justice

The paramount ruler of Iwo kingdom in Osun State, Oba (Dr.) Abdulrosheed Adewale Akanbi, Telu I, has called for calm and patience over the untimely death of rising artiste, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba popularly called Mohbad.

In a communique issued recently by the monarch's media team, Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi described Mohbad’s death as a colossal loss to Yorubaland, Nigeria and the world at large.

The statement read:

"I commiserate with his immediate family and the entertainment industry.

"While calling on the government to ensure justice prevails on the circumstances surrounding his death, I appeal to the protesting youth to be calm, civil in their conduct and public demonstration. The ardent lovers of Mohbad are enjoined to leave the street and go home. The protest may be hijacked by hoodlums if not properly managed.

"Stakeholders are already working to ensure justice for Mohbad. The youth should cooperate with the government by conducting themselves in a peaceful manner.

"Once again, may the soul of the departed Mohbad rest in peace."

Unpaid Entitlements:Osun State Govt Chides Legal Practitioner Over Threat

Osun State Government has urged an Oyo-based legal practitioner, Mutalabi Adebayo,SAN, to avoid "interloping activism” following his threat to drag Governor Ademola Adeleke before a court over unpaid allowances of judges in the state.

Adebayo on Thursday gave Governor Adeleke's administration a 10-day ultimatum to pay arrears of allowances owed retired and serving judges in the state or face a legal action.

The lawyer also noted that beside the arrears of outstanding allowances, he would also claim interest and aggravated damages in respect of the unpaid entitlements.

Osun State Residents Lament Gas Price Increase

The price of cooking gas has increased in Osogbo metropolis as a kilogram is now sold at the rate of 1000 naira.

The soaring price is related to the perception of retailers that the cost of 12kg will hit N18,000 before December.

Orisun Igbomina FM correspondent, Michael Leshi, reports that some residents found the increase shocking and permutate that it would cause additional hardship and further worsen the standard of living among low-income earners in Osun.

Ifon - Ilobu Communal Clash: Ajagunla Sues for Peace

- Commended OSSG, Police for timely intervention.

The Senator representing Osun Central Senatorial district at the National Assembly, Senator Olubiyi Fadeyi has called for calm between Ifon and Ilobu people amidst the ongoing communcal clash between the two communties.

It will be recalled that there was a report of an unrest arising from land dispute between the two communities of Ifon and Ilobu in osun central over the weekend, this brought about significant breakdown of law and order which threatened the existing peace between the people of the two communities.
Senator Ajagunla described the incident as regretable and unnecessary while calling on the elders of the two communties to seek alternate means of resolution devoid of confrontation and animosity as the best approach to settling such disagreement

"We are one irrespective of our origin or geographical boundary, as a people we must continue to love our neighbor as ourselves. Fighting amongst ourselves is not the best way to solve any differences that might have come up. I urge the leaders of Ifon and Ilobu communities to rein in on their followers to allow for peaceful resolution through progressive dialogue" Senator Ajagunla advised.

On the intervention of the osun state government directing curfew in the two affected local governments between 8pm to 6am, Senator Ajagunla commended Governor Ademola Adeleke for his quick intervention in ensuring peace between the two communities while applauding the Osun State Police command for their professionalism and proactiveness in dowsing the growing tension caused by the crisis.

"I am happy that the Osun State Government under the able leadership of our amiable Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke has already intervened to ensure the crisis did not escalate beyond measure, his quick action has saved the lives of innocent people in the two communities. I am also aware that the police in the state has already commenced
Investigation into the causes of the crisis and devise measure to bring lasting peace between the people of Ifon and Ilobu communities", he added.

"I hereby call on the people of Ifon and Ilobu communities to lay their grievances to the appropriate government quarters and not take laws into their own hands. I can assure that justice will surely prevail" Senator Ajagunla concluded.

*Averted Plane Crash: Aircraft Engines May Have Been Tampered with - Governor Adeleke's Aide*

OSOGBO - 17/09/2023 - Osunstate.gov.ng

Spokesperson to the Osun State Governor , Mallam Olawale Rasheed has confirmed reported aircraft incident involving Governor Ademola Adeleke but clarified that there are strong indications that the two aircraft engines were tampered before boarding.

Reacting to news reports on the incident, the Spokesperson said the highly technically equipped aircraft was well maintained with the best technical crew and was never an unused platform where birds could build nests.

Contrary to the claim by the hanger owner that birds' nests caused the incident, birds' nests are made with straws not bidding wires as in this case.

According to him, the near fatal incident was averted shortly after boarding and less than two minutes after commencement of taxing on the tarmac.

An early warning noise from the engines immediately prompted the pilots to direct evacuation of the passengers. Everything happened within five minutes.

Early reports from internal investigation indicated sabotage. But the authorities, locally and internationally, are still investigating the incident.

We however want to assure the public that Governor Adeleke and his aides are safe and there was no injury or any outward explosion on the plane.

The Governor expressed his deep appreciation to well wishers and supporters who have been calling since the report of the incident. Mr Governor is hale and hearty.

The notice of curfew conveyed by the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Hon. Kolapo Alimi reads as follows:

This is to inform the public that the attention of the Osun state government has been drawn to the communal clash on land dispute between Ilobu and Ifon Communities.

Based on this, Governor Ademola Adeleke has directed that Curfew begins immediately in the two local governments: Orolu and Irepodun local governments.

The Curfew will start between the hours of 8pm every night, and 6am in the morning. Human and vehicular movement is hereby restricted during the curfew till further notice.

This is to forestall attempts of destruction of lives and properties during this period, because of the land dispute.

Anyone caught wandering or moving around in Irepodun and Orolu local governments during the curfew period will be arrested and prosecuted appropriately.

Governor Ademola Adeleke sued for peace between these two local governments, and asked that the ethos of Peace, Love and Unity which the state is known for, be imbibed.

*Ipade Imole: C4GG Announces Osun State Situation Room*

As promised, the Coalition for Good Governance (C4ClGG) in Osun State has been keenly monitoring the development and governance delivery to the people of Osun State since the change of government in November 2022.

We are quite delighted when State Governor recently inaugurated the state cabinet and proceeded to announce it's first State Town Hall Meeting tagged "Ipade Imole"

We have also decided to use this opportunity to announce our quarterly "Osun State Situation Room" report, which will be highlighting our field report and evaluation of the progress, or otherwise, being made by the State Government.

The Coalition for Good Governance is invested in seeing that the good people of Osun State receive the benefits of the trust given to its Government.

We are therefore glad to announce that the C4GG will also be unveiling its State Monitoring and Evaluation Report on October 5th. The report will subsequently be issued on a quarterly basis to coincide with the hosting of Ipade Imole.

Our goal is to always provide non- governmental assessment of governmental programmes and policies without any taint of politics.

"I Will Prioritize Women Empowerment, Youth Development" - Legislator-Elect for Olorunda Constituency of Osun By Osun Spotlight News May 19, 2023 The lawmaker-elect for Olorunda Constituency of Osun, Hon. Olaide Ajibola has vowed to adopt a populist approach to political representation by putting a premium on the empowerment of women, youths and other vulnerable groups in his domain. Hon. Ajibola further said his legislative blueprint is hinged on the cardinal area of ensuring the majority of his constituents are financially independent and self-reliant. The People's Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain made this promise in Osogbo on Thursday, 18th May 2023 while donating various vocational tools to graduates of the Senator Ademola Adeleke Empowerment Center. He noted that the gesture was borne out of deep responsibility to the people and commitment to his campaign promise of supporting unemployed persons, widows and the needy in the society to live a productive life. According to him, “As the representative of the people, I will continue to prioritize women empowerment, youth development and other initiatives that will help to develop the local economy and improve the well-being of Olorunda residents.” Some of the empowerment kits distributed to the beneficiaries include tools for ventures such as hairdressing, batik production, facial make-up and beauty therapy, tailoring, among others. Oluwaseyi Oladokun, a beneficiary of the empowerment scheme, lauded Hon. Ajibola for the gesture. She revealed that the support will go a long way to help her achieve her lifelong ambition of becoming a successful entrepreneur. Dignitaries from all walks of life witnessed the landmark event, which was held at the Oba Adenle Park, Aiyetoro, Osogbo.
