Arsenal may have only made one new signing for the first-team this summer, but they made a significant statement when announcing the move.

David Raya returned for good in the first few days of July after spending last season on loan. However, the arrival of Riccardo Calafiori at the end of the month represented the first real foray into the transfer market for the Gunners

Alvarez has even more international experience than Calafiori, with 36 caps compared to the Italian's five. He has already won the Copa America twice and the World Cup, scoring six of his nine international goals at those tournaments.
