Amidst massive education reforms of the Rauf Aregbesola administration in Osun, the Ataoja School of Science, Osogbo Government High School, Wole Soyinka Govt High School, Iwo High School, Ilesa Grammar School Fakunle/Unity Comprehensive High School, Osogbo and many more also at the Elementary and Middle categories of the school system, have established an unparralled commitment to the future of our children. It is a work in progress having gone through many years of rot which now manifest in the depressing results that come out national examinations.
Improved learning environment, better trained teachers curriculum tailored towrds current needs of the society are what we need to rejuvenate learning. The landscape has changed in Osun and the results, in decades to come, will still be reverberating.

Today June 18 Governor Rauf Aregbesola stopped to check the level of work already done at the Bisi Akande Trumpet Interchange Bridge Gbongan. Satisfied with the spate of work he moved round the site and saw that very soon, motorists would begin to take the full advantages that this new structure bring.
For those who know this project site, it remained a nightmare for many over the years as either negotiating the turn towards Osogbo or joining the Ibadan Ife Expressway was a major risk. Not a few very fatal accidents have been recorded here. But the souls of those who had perished on this spot rest in peace.
Few weeks to
Come this interchange just as what you have at Sagamu, (for those going to Lagos, Abeokuta, Ibadan and Ijebu Ode) Ojota in Lagos, (for those going to Lagos Island, Ikorodu, Ojuelegba and Ibadan), or Mokola Ibadan (for those going to Sango, Dugbe, Agodi etc) and other such metropolitan cities, will be fully up for the good of humanity. It is one of those ideas to make Osun a better place to be to visitors and residents.

No birthday cakes for Ogbeni!

No cakes; no cards and no decorated halls in celebration of adding another year. Few minutes into the wee hours of a new year for you, you were only set for another another journey in search of the goodies that would further bring Osun closer to a state of your dream. And that was after a hard day’s job; hopping from one project site to another.
From the gigantic Osogbo Grammar School where beneficiaries of your people-focused governance hailed and hailed; still marveling at the unbelievable structures springing up everywhere; you moved to Ataoja School of Science moving from one classroom to another. The expressions on the faces of those kids said it all. You will live forever in their psyche as the leader who brought about a new Osun.
And at the feet of the new crystalising Interchange Bridge; part of the ongoing Oba Adesoji Aderemi Second By-Pass Road, you stood tiny at the feet of the construction wonder of which you are the architect in Osogbo as the engineers wove and coupled together enthusiastically what will go down in history as part of your life-changing projects.
And from there, down to the office where a multitude was already waiting to be attended to one after the other. Good leadership comes with listening ears. And one after the other, they departed; all feeling fulfilled; hopes raised, problems solved after each had taken his/her quality time.
Bob Riley said “Hard times don't create heroes. It is during the hard times when the 'hero' within us is revealed.” You fought a heroic battle to be here! It was not served a la carte. And even in the face of battles to make those you seek to CHANGE understand your mission, you have trudged on.
You are on a mission and it’s so clear.
Your footprints are everywhere. The roads, the schools, the hospitals, recreation centers, security, agriculture, social welfare, job creations and positive youths engagements.
“A hero is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles,” said Christopher Reeve. You fit into Reeve’s description.
As you add another year today, those who already see you for what you stand for can only rejoice. Those who are yet to come to the reality of what you represent may wait for some more years when the wonders of today could only make meaning to them.
As you hit the road again in search of the goodies for your people, may you find favor Ogbeni. Happy Birthday.

EFCC’s invitation to fake crusaders will end frivolous petitions- Bureau

The Government of Osun on Monday said invitations to fake petitioners and paid agents of destabilization will put an end to frivolous petitions in Nigeria.
Citing Friday’s invitation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to the Civil Societies Coalition for the Emancipation of Osun over its petition alleging diversion of funds belonging to the Local Governments in the state by Governor Rauf Aregbesola, the Bureau of Communication and Strategy in the Office of the Governor in a statement signed by its Director, Semiu Okanlawon, said the self-appointed civil society group is a group that had been making bogus claims against Governor Aregbesola and his government without producing evidence to substantiate any of the allegations.
For instance, this was the group that accused Governor Aregbesola of embezzling the N34.988bn bailout loan obtained last year as part of the Federal Government’s intervention to assist states meet their salary obligations.
The same group had accused Governor Aregbesola of borrowing over N750 billion, which, according to it, has not impacted on the socio-economic lives of the people of Osun.
The government had also been accused of planning a mass sack of civil servants in the state especially in the wake of the challenges to meet salary obligations by the state.
“It is instructive that none of these allegations and others from this same group has been proved to be true,” the Bureau stated.
The Bureau described the CSCEO as dubious two-man contraption put together and masquerading as a pro-people organization.
“We must remind Nigerians lest they take this group serious at all that Mr. Sulaiman Adeniyi who claims to be the leader of the group and Seun Adeoye, have been no more than two hired hands of the Peoples Democratic Party in Osun and its allied opposition elements.
“It is pertinent to state that the so-called civil society group is a contraption hurriedly put together by Adeniyi and Adeoye to push the dubious agenda of their sponsors, the humiliated governorship candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party and the Social Democratic Party, SDP, Senator Iyiola Omisore and Mr. Segun Akinwusi respectively to blackmail Governor Aregbesola and his government.
“When all their antics against the Aregbesola government failed, Nigerians must recall how these characters procured the services of a High Court Judge to write a petition with all forms of spurious allegations which she equally failed to defend.
“It is on record that when the EFCC and the Osun State House of Assembly invited Justice Folahanmi Oloyede to defend the claims in her petition, she developed cold feet.”the Bureau stated.
The statement added that all the allegations leveled against Aregbesola are the same as those allegations made by Omisore, Akinwusi and Justice Oloyede, noting that it is clear that the motive of these is to set the state on fire by misinforming the people.
Describing the step taken by the EFCC as a welcome development, the Bureau stated,
“This is a welcome development as perhaps this will put an end to frivolous activities of the likes of hired groups like this and their cohorts in the trade of making allegations that they cannot substantiate.
“The Osun example in local government funds administration is a study in transparency and accountability. Perhaps, it is only in Osun that the governor introduced Heads of Local Government Administrations, HLAs, to the monthly allocation meetings. The HLAs have full knowledge of how much is received and other allied information. A governor with a plan to divert council funds would not bring such a novel addition to the way funds are administered.”
The statement also urged the petitioners to check out Osun’s record of payment of council salaries and pensions and compare those with what obtains in many other states of the federation.

This is one of the strategies through which the Aregbesola government has ignited passion in youths, giving children that direction in cooperation, commitment and concentration.
