So, as you write, don't forget the above elements.

Always do your first editing before sending your manuscript to a professional editor. Once you have finished writing, it is advisable to leave your manuscript for a few days or weeks before doing a read through with fresh eyes, putting yourself in the shoes of the reader and taking note of what to work on – grammatical errors, story structure, clarity etc.

My name is Paul Obafe. And I am not normal.
My life went into a tailspin a few years ago. It was like a tornado ripped through the land of my life. By the time its fury was expended, there was a solemn quiet and with it was the aftermath of destruction. Ruin.

I was tired and well-worn. Then the rains began. They beat me wet. But they washed me; of the mud that had caked around me. They cleaned my rich clothes that had become poor and tattered.
Then the sun came. My rags were dried. I could see clearly once the storm was over. I could see a city so far away. It was my only hope to survive. Was it real? Or was it just a dream of the night? Or was it a vision of my days? A mirage? But I walked towards it. Through the elements. The hot days. The cold nights. The wild animals. The supporting friends. The jeers of frenemies. The battles of my mind.
Till I made it to the City of New Beginnings. The place of fresh starts. Till I made it to success. Which I found out, is a journey. Not a domicile.
My trust in the Divine remains absolute! He will guide me through this maze. This Maze Called Life!

You do not embark on a journey without having a clear direction of where you are going. In the same light, your book outline is a roadmap that will show you how to tell your story. What will come first? What will follow it? What will end it? This outline is the sequence of information or events your book will contain.
You need an outline to:
1. Understand your starting point
2. Separate the main points in your book
3. Set small writing targets
4. Write quickly
5. Know what content to develop
6. Plan chapters
7. See what your first draft will look like
Also, the 5Ws and H questions can easily help you summarise each point on your outline.
