Edo police parades suspected killers of Delta undergraduate The Edo state police command have paraded three suspects who killed FAITH OMORODION, a female undergraduate of the Delta state university.
The suspects were paraded at the state police command headquarters in Benin among other suspects arrested for various crimes ranging from armed robbery, cultism among others.
Parading the suspects who murdered the undergraduate girl at a farm in neighbouring Agbor, the Edo state police commissioner CP Funsho Adegboye warned parents to be cautious of the environment they send their children to.
On their part, two of the suspects narrated how the undergraduate was strangled to death.

Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command say it has killed two suspected kidnappers terrorizing travelers on the Sagamu-Ijebu Ode-Benin expressway in a gun duel.
The Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu at a press briefing held in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital said the suspects were killed during a rescue operation carried out by personnel of the command to rescue some abducted Indian nationals.
The CP disclosed that the police, with the support of the local vigilantes, were able to rescue the Indian nationals.
He said that cash amounting to N7.9 million and 1,500 Indian Rupees suspected to have been part of the ransom collected by the kidnappers was recovered.
The CP further explained that the Manager of the company located on the Ibadan-Lagos expressway had on Saturday made a distress call to the Divisional Police Officer, Mowe Divisional Headquarters..

Senator Mohammed Onawo, brought attention to the tragic aftermath of a destructive windstorm that swept through Awe, Doma, Keffi, and other areas, resulting in one fatality, numerous injuries, and extensive property damage.

In response to the motion, the Senate called upon key agencies to promptly dispatch relief materials to support the affected communities in Nassarawa state.

Chairman Nigerian labour congress Kaduna state chapter Ayuba Sulieman has said that the present minimum wage can no longer take them home.

High Cement Prices: Reps Issue 14 Day Ultimatum For Manufacturers’.
The House of Representatives on Tuesday issued a 14 day ultimatum to the nation's cement manufacturers to appear before it or face legislative sanctions.
This was stated at a joint investigative hearing on the arbitrary increase in the price of cement in Nigeria by the Chairman House committee on Solid minerals, Hon Gaza Jonathan and co-Chairmen of the committees on Commerce, Industry, and Special duties
The committee also summoned to appear before it on May 21, the Minister of Solid minerals Dele Alake over the matter.
Hon Jonathan who expressed displeasure over the non-appearance of critical stakeholders when invited to brief the house, said there is no court injunction restraining the committees from carrying out its constitutional mandate
Earlier, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen who was represented by his deputy, Benjamin Kalu, decried the housing deficit in the country while reaffirming that the house is actively working to establish appropriate legislation that promotes and encourage industrialization, as well as support small and medium enterprises.
Delta police deny firing live bullets at women protesters
The Delta state police command have debunked the claim by protesting women and youths in Ughelli North that a woman was shot, while several others sustained injuries during a peaceful protest in the Delta community.
The police in a signed statement by the commissioner CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, made available to newsmen, said they were aware of the sponsored protest as the use of tear gas was rightly used to disperse the protesters. According to the Delta police boss, the report in some section of the media that policemen shot at peaceful protesters is false and untrue.
CP Olufemi said some community members from Oteri in Ughelli North had met with the police Area command to withdraw its men from the expressway, this was what prompted the protest as the Area commander informed them that the deployment was ordered by the CP to check kidnapping and other crimes. The forceful storming of the police station by sponsored protesters led to the injuring of a police officer before they were dispersed with tear gas.
The injured policeman is said to be receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital in Ughelli, while the video of the shot woman also resurfaced, condemning the Delta police command action over the protesters. The woman in the video made available to our correspondent is presently receiving treatment at the Ughelli central hospital.

The Governor of Ondo State, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has said his administration will strive to tackle the menace of unemployment by implementing policies that will create jobs and empower young people in the State.
The Governor stated this while declaring open a two-week induction program for the newly recruited staff of the Ondo State Internal Revenue Service (ODIRS) in Akure.

FG Aims At Growing Energy Transition
The Federal Government has reiterated commitment towards the growth of energy transition in the country.
Honourable Minister of budget and economic planning, Atiku Bagudu made the assertion at a one-day stakeholders workshop on Climate Finance held in Abuja, Monday.
Bagudu who was Represented by Special Assistant on Finance, Bolaji Onalaja disclosed that, government is set to setup adequate framework that will aid in attracting more investors into climate financing.
He stressed the need for strong government mechanisms in mobilizing climate finance and scheme into the country.
Onalaja noted that low net emissions growth will help to increase private sector investment across the country.
In his welcome address the Executive Director of Africa Policy Research Institute, Olumide Abimbola adviced Government to implement actionable pathway to achieve Low Net emissions growth in Nigeria.
He added that increasing flow will come, when Government internally reflect climate financing.

Insecurity: CSO Calls On Nigerians Youths To Participate In Resolving The Menace
A coalition of Civil society organization under the aegis of Non Aligned Movement Youth Organization has charged Nigerian Youths and Stakeholders to get involved in proffering solutions to the problems of insecurity in Nigeria.
National representative of the Organization, Bello Shagari gave the charge while addressing Journalists in Abuja, on Sunday.
Shagari stated that, earnest stakeholder involvement, particularly of young people, is necessary to effectively address the root causes of insecurity in the country.
He noted that without the active involvement of youths, Nigeria's security challenges cannot be adequately tackled.
While recognizing and appreciating the present administration's relentless efforts in combating insecurity, the National Representative emphasized that, the ideas, innovations and inputs of young people remain indispensable.

How police officers allegedly killed two unarmed teenagers
Policemen have allegedly killed two teenagers in Ungwan Gwari community of igabi local government area of kaduna state.
Galaxy TV gathered that the incident happened when the policemen tried to scare motorist in a cue looking for fuel at a filling station but mistakenly fired at two teenagers leaving them death.
Galaxy Tv learnt that this lead to a protest by angry community members who are demanding for investigation. They added that this was not the first time this was happening.
