REJOICE, KEEP HOPE ALIVE: GOVERNOR SOLUDO GREETS NDI-ANAMBRA AT CHRISTMAS

As the joyous bells of Christmas chime and the star of Bethlehem shines once again, Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, felicitates Ndi Anambra with a heart overflowing with gratitude, festive cheer and immense hope for the future of our great state.

Christmas, a season of love, light, and goodwill, finds us at a pivotal moment in the journey of our dear State. We stand on the threshold of a brighter tomorrow, having weathered storms and challenges together, emerging stronger and more united in our resolve to build a better, safer, prosperous, homeland.

This year as we gather in churches, families and communities, let us celebrate the birth of Christ with grateful hearts. Let us count our blessings and remember the resolute faith that carried us through the year, as the abiding love for our homeland continues to be our guiding compass.

Let the warmth of this season reignite the spark of hope within each of us. Let us extend a hand of kindness to our neighbours, for in unity and compassion lies our strength.

Let us open our hearts to the less fortunate, the lonely, and the vulnerable. Let us remember the true spirit of Christmas – the spirit of giving, forgiveness, and selfless service.

Let us spread the joy of Christmas to every corner of our state, ensuring that no one feels alone or left out of celebration.

As your Governor, I pledge to continue working tirelessly to build the Anambra of our dreams – a state where every citizen thrives in a secure and prosperous environment, and where the light of opportunity shines brightly for all.

On this blessed Christmas season, I pray for peace, joy, and abundance for each and every one of you.

May the spirit of Christmas fill your homes with warmth, your hearts with love, and your lives with blessings beyond measure.

Merry Christmas, Ndi Anambra!

Signed,

Christian Aburime
Press Secretary to the Governor

TROOPS RAID IPOB/ESN CAMPS IN ANAMBRA/IMO, DESTROY HIDEOUTS, TRAINING CAMPS.

In ongoing operations to deter enforcement of the illegal sit at home declared by Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and and its armed wing, Eastern Security Network (ESN), combined troops of 82 Division Nigerian Army, sister Services, Nigeria Police and other security agencies have successfully raided hideouts and training camps belonging to IPOB/ESN in Orsomoghu Forest spanning Anambra and Imo States.

The raid operation was carried out on Monday 31 July 2023, when troops were alerted to the violent activities of the irredentist group enforcing the illegal 2 weeks sit-at-home order in Onitsha, Nnewi and Iheme Obosi in Anambra State, as well as New Market in Enugu state.

During the raid operations, the troops cleared IPOB camps in Ekeututu, Orsomoghu, Lilu and Mother Valley camps of the dissidents. Troops came in contact with the group's armed fighters, who detonated Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) also known as Ogbunigwe and fired using locally fabricated mortar tube. The valiant troops however overpowered the irredentist group in the firefight, compelling them to abandon their position as they fled with gunshot wounds into nearby bushes. Further cordon and search of the hideouts by the troops, led to the arrest of five fleeing members of the group and recovery of one IPOB flag, one CCTV camera and 2 detonated IED bombs and a fabricated mortar tube.
Sadly, five soldiers and two Nigeria Police operatives sustained varying degrees of injuries from the IED detonated by the criminals.

The Nigerian Army encourages all law abiding citizens of the South East to continue to support ongoing operations with actionable information and to disregard the unlawful 2 weeks sit-at-home order by going about their normal daily activities and businesses. The Nigerian Army in synergy with sister services and security agencies will undauntedly continue to protect and safeguard lives and property of the good and enterprising people of South East Nigeria, within the ambit of the law and the rules of engagement.

*Debunking Hell's Agents Dispensing Insecurity Fears in Anambra*

By Christian ABURIME

In response to the trending circulation of a propaganda video freshly portraying a non-existent dreadful insecurity situation in Anambra State in order to discourage investors and ndi Anambra from coming to the State, i personally debunk the outrageously fallacious claims and express its utmost disappointment in the individual responsible for the mischievous act.

The acts of mischief, sa**sm and sabotage are age-long traits of barbarians who live among civilized people. No doubt, every society has its share of subversive characters.

They are chronic saboteurs who are always hell-bent on throwing the spanner in the good works of government. Such is the toxic barbarism of the latest sabotaging element, a low-budget mischief-maker in Anambra State going by the self-claimed name of Ifeanyi Orakwue, who is spewing negativity through contrived propaganda from hell.

In the trending video in question, the reckless mischief-maker makes reference to the recent Townhall Meeting held in Lagos by Governor Charles Soludo, CFR, asking Ndi Anambra to come home to invest. Obviously harbouring a preconceived sinister agenda to discourage investors, Ifeanyi strangely goes on to raise false alarms of insecurity in Onitsha without citing a specific incident.

He claims to have driven one night on a lonely road in the commercial city of Onitsha at 9.30pm without seeing anyone. This lowlife does not claim to have been attacked, yet he spawns a torrid tale of a phantom insecurity just because the road is deserted!

Does it not occur to this hallucinating nightcrawler that Onitsha has always been a commercial city with low night life and that decent people must have retired for the night at the hour he was on the road?

Does he not know that most businesses in the famed commercial city usually open for business by 6am and close by approximately 6pm?

Does it not also occur to him that the quietness of the area he drove through without any attack attests to the positive impact of the far-reaching security measures the government of Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo has put in place so far which scare criminals away?

It is really appalling and grossly shameful for the self-appointed town crier in the toxic video to be discouraging Ndi Anambra in Diaspora not to come home to invest on the basis of baseless claims of insecurity.

How would someone who claims to be from Anambra State be so maliciously demarketing his own state if he is not either politically sponsored or is given to degenerative buffoonery?!

At a time the Anambra State Government has been making highly commendable efforts in creating an enabling environment for business to attract investors, the last thing Ndi Anambra need is hellish saboteurs masquerading as patriotic town criers.

We vehemently condemn such reckless actions that undermine the progress and development of our beloved state.

Not denying occasional pockets of crime in a few areas, Anambra State, under the visionary leadership of Governor Soludo has been tirelessly working towards creating a safe haven for both local and foreign investors.

The state has consistently ranked as one of the most investor-friendly destinations in Nigeria, boasting a thriving business ecosystem, robust infrastructure, and a dedicated workforce.

Contrary to the misleading video, Anambra State has made significant strides in ensuring the security and safety of its citizens and investors alike. The state government has implemented various initiatives, in collaboration with security agencies, to combat crime and maintain law and order.

These efforts have resulted in a noticeable reduction in crime rates, making Anambra State one of the safest states in the country.

Yet, Governor Soludo is not resting until everyone in the state is rest assured.

We call on the public to disregard the trending video and such trash that may come from the laboratories of mischief-makers in the future.

Ndi Anambra are also advised to exercise caution and verify the credibility of any trending information against the government before drawing conclusions or sharing.

Most importantly, the state government encourages potential investors to ignore the baseless claims made in the video and come to explore the abundant opportunities that Anambra State has to offer.

From agriculture to manufacturing, technology to tourism, the state provides a conducive business environment with attractive incentives and a skilled workforce, all of which are instrumental in achieving sustainable economic growth.

Together, we will build a prosperous and secure future for our state and its people.

SOLUDO HOSTS TOWN HALL MEETING ON EROSION CONTROL, TO SIGN EXECUTIVE ORDER BANNING SAND MINING IN EROSION PRONE AREAS

By Christian ABURIME

Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, has tasked Communities to join hands with the government in erosion preventive measures.

Governor Soludo made the call when he hosted a town hall meeting on erosion control and management with stakeholders from five communities in the state, largely affected by gully erosion.

The 5 out of 146 communities affected by gully erosion in the state are Nanka, Awgbu, Oko, Amaokpala, and Ekwulobia.

The Governor also announced that, pending the full adoption of the law, he will sign an executive order prohibiting sand mining near erosion-prone areas.

The town hall meeting tagged; "Delivering the Solution Mandate in Erosion Control" was held at Oko Civic Centre.

"The environment is Anambra's most serious existential threat. "The fifth finger of my administration's manifesto is based on the environment; towards green, clean, planned markets, communities, and cities to make our environment sustainable," the Governor said.

The Governor stated that part of the challenge is that individuals have the wrong attitude towards the environment, but expect the government to do everything instead of contributing their quota as well.

"As an individual, what have you done today and tomorrow to combat the erosion threat?" He inquired.

Governor Soludo observed that the greatest moment to act was decades ago, saying that the second best time to act is now, emphasizing the need to define the individual and collective responsibilities.

"Active gully erosion is occurring in 146 Anambra communities which constitutes 81.5%". The five communities that have assembled here today are at the epicenter of gully erosion. If we do enough of what we are meant to do, the rate of erosion will be reduced to 80%.

"An action plan on sand mining law, regulation, and enforcement, community sensitization, revenue collection, a statewide awareness campaign, designing roads for proper water channelization, and building catchment pits, among other things, shall be established."

"We already have a draft environmental law that will help to punish offenders," Governor Soludo said.

The Governor bemoaned the lack of a good plan and design for water channelization in Anambra State

He revealed that channel openings in Onitsha have already begun, adding that this is the revolution that must begin in other areas.

He emphasized that environmental preservation must become a way of life because it is an existential threat!

"If you want to save society, it will not be an easy task. If you don't have the courage to make difficult decisions as a Community leader, you should resign," Governor Soludo insisted.

The Governor urged each community to establish a standing committee and an inter-community action team, as well as a robust enforcement arm.

He stated that the major responsibility of Presidents-General is to save their towns from extinction by educating the public about environmental preservation.

"Anambra is heavily impacted by two natural disasters: flooding and gully erosion!" The Governor warned that "controlling flooding alone will consume over N900 billion, which is Anambra's total budget for many years."

Soludo further announced that there would be marching funds for the five communities that will provide designated places where the government can begin tree planting to combat erosion.

Earlier, while welcoming the Governor, the Transition Committee Chairman for Orumba North, Mr. Ogochukwu Ekwueme called on the Governor to enact a legal framework that will help stop sand mining in the area which is a leading cause of erosion.

On his part, the Commissioner for Environment, Engr. Felix Odimegwu, thanked the Governor for working with the villages affected by erosion, including; Nanka, Awgbu, Oko, Amaokpala, Ekwulobia, and its environs.

He pointed out that a new law will be established to encourage large tree planting, which is an excellent measure to curb erosion, and to ensure that new houses built will construct drainages to channel water properly.

Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr Ernest Ezeajughi, Commissioner for Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Barr. Anthony Ifeanya, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Mr. Tony-Collins Nwabunwanne, President-General, Oko Community, Comrade Luke Nweke, Managing Director, Anambra Erosion, Watershed and Climate Change, Prof. Phil Eze among others, attended the meeting.

EXCERPTS OF GOVERNOR CHUKWUMA CHARLES SOLUDO'S EXTEMPORÉ SPEECH AT THE COMMISSIONING OF THE REGIONAL HEADQUARTERS OF APGA IN AWKA

Protocols!

I am here to do two things. Number one, gratitude, gratitude, gratitude. And number two is that we have come to unveil history- building to last.

Number one, on our gratitude; as the National Chairman was speaking, I was getting a little bit emotional and I held myself. You were speaking about the travails, the begining. This is the biblical parable of the rich man who was going on errand and gave some gifts. The one that was given little in the bible went and buried it.

You were given little and you did not bury. The little was multiplied thousand times over. We have come to say to you and to the NWC, leadership of the party under you; we are grateful and would remain very grateful.

You've written your name and your names, not just gold, in platinum. In the history of political parties in Nigeria, you have written your names in platinum.

We can spend the whole day giving our gratitude, given the circumstances which you came, given the Nigerian factor or what people understand to be leadership.

People look for the opportunity, the seat for their own. You got and occupy the seat in order to leave the place better than you met it.

That is the public purpose for public service. Today, we've come to say we are grateful, because you have done what Goliath couldn't do.

Bigger parties that came before APGA, I don't know where they are. I don't know what they have, but I used to know one of them. I used to go to one rented apartment in Abuja. I know during the nomination process, people pay to buy some forms. Some political parties realise well over 10 billion naira and more each four years. But go back after a few months and ask where all those have gone. Absolutely nothing.

Here we are; the All Progressives Grand Alliance- the only grand alliance of the progressives in Nigeria. Today, we not only have a National Headquarters that is our own property, we now have a five floor building as a monumental regional office that is also our own property. When you have a full market valuation of the assets of the political parties, I want to believe that APGA, in terms of the frugality of the management of the meagre resources that have passed through the National secretariat Vis a Vis the assets of the party in comparison with other political parties without going to have an audited accounts of anybody else, I think it is fair to assert that you met the party as a tenant, today, you are leaving the party not just as a landlord but a very wealthy landlord.

A proper evaluation of those assets, will no doubt leave APGA as the wealthiest political party in Nigeria.

History will bear proper testimony. To all those of you who worked with him at the National Working Committee, it is a testament to the character, integrity and public purpose drive of the members of this NWC that we are able achieve all of this. This is so "unNigerian", in terms of attitude to public resource, attitude to political party. And it is a lesson to all of us at the lower levels.

If you look at political parties today. When I started my own political party journey which by August this year, I will be 43 years. In August 1980, we formed the Ekwueme movement and that was my entry into partisan politics. Then after each meeting, the financial secretary will produce the financial reports and the treasurer will confirm. And that is why this is a very important lesson about building to last.

When the National Chairman was speaking, you heard him say that at inception, he received a particular amount and that he will hand over ten times of what he received to his successor. How many local governments will be able to say the same thing? How many states will be able to say the same thing? Because, this one is not coming from below. This leadership is being demonstrated at the highest level but this message that you leave with is is something that we must cascade down. It is a message that we have to carry down to the wards and base of the party. You've shown leadership. It is not just to talk about it. You've lived it.

APGA as the grand alliance of progressives in Nigeria is a party that is built and we are building to last. We have come to stay. Each floor here represents fifty years, that's about two hundred and fifty years. Thank you immensely. You've done marvelously well.

*CHILDREN'S DAY: SOLUDO, WIFE, OTHERS, CELEBRATE ANAMBRA CHILDREN, EXTOL THEIR ABUNDANT TALENTS*

By Christian ABURIME

The Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, has described Anambra children as highly talented.

Governor Soludo stated this during the 2023 Children's Day Celebration at Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka where he charged Anambra children to be good ambassadors of the state, Nigeria, and Africa by abstaining from all social vices.

The theme for this year's event is: "The State of the Nigerian Child Today: Proper Parenting for Value Reorientation and National Consciousness."

The Governor reminded the children that they are the owners of tomorrow, assuring them of fighting their cause through protection and provision of their basic needs such as health and education.

"My primary goal is to pray for our children to take charge and grow up to be responsible citizens who will help build our dream for Anambra, Nigeria, and Africa."

"On child marriage, hawking, child labor, and child abuse. It is enshrined in the child rights law." These laws must be enforced.

"Child abuse is an abominable act for an Anambra child." Cultism is a threat, and we have seen its negative effects. The majority of the children and youths involved in this all die when they are young.

"The Anti-Cultism Act will continue to take effect and will be enforced with zero tolerance for any cult group," Governor Soludo said.

"Now that the Nigerian Correctional Service is in the concurrent list, Anambra will have its own laws and build its own prisons. States can now have their own correctional facilities.

"Drug abuse is wrecking havoc on the youths today." Drugs, cultism, and criminality all go hand in hand.

"Parents must face their responsibilities!" Many parents delegate their responsibilities to their domestic workers, whom they often mal-treat. A bill is presently being drafted to protect domestic workers!

"We must have a society in which everyone receives justice and children have limitless opportunities to realize their God-given potential," the Soludo added.

Speaking earlier, the Commissioner for Women and Social Affairs, Mrs. Ify Obinabo, revealed that Governor Soludo established a designated sexual and gender-based court where justice is given to every child who is a victim of any form of abuse in the eyes of the law.

In their separate goodwill messages, the Anambra Chief Judge, Justice Onochie Anyachebelu and Speaker of the Anambra House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Uchenna Okafor, stressed that the Child Rights law has privileges that are usually implemented to the letter and lauded the Governor's commitment to child development following the provision of the 2023 budget and his one youth two skills, as well as the solution innovation district initiative.

The Wife of the Governor, Mrs. Nonye Soludo, Deputy Governor, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, Chief of Staff, Mr. Ernest Ezeajughi, Speaker of Children Parliament, Hon. Victoria Ekwunife, Members of Anambra State Executive Council among others attended the event.

FGN NAMES 2ND NIGER BRIDGE AS PRESIDENT MUHAMMADU BUHARI BRIDGE AS SOLUDO, UZODINMA, OKOWA WITNESS COMMISSIONING OF THE BRIDGE

By Christian ABURIME

Anambra State Governor Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, has described the commissioning of the Second Niger Bridge as a fundamental change that will catalyze new waves of prosperity and economic growth in the South-East region.

Governor Soludo made the disclosure at the commissioning and handover of the bridge, which was officially named as Muhammadu Buhari Second Niger Bridge.

The official ceremony was performed by the President at the Bridge Head, Asaba-End.

Other projects virtually commissioned by President Buhari include the Federal Secretariat Awka, Federal Secretariat Yenagoa, Lokoja-Oweto Bridge in Nasarawa/Benue State, Ikom Bridge in Cross River State, and Abuja-Kaduna-Kano Road.

Governor Soludo remarked that he was personally overjoyed because the people of the South East have long advocated for infrastructural development.

He enumerated other four major projects desired in the region to include the dredging of three channels that will give the South East access to the Atlantic, the construction of the Anambra-Lokoja Road, the gas pipeline, and the railway line.

"Of these five requests, it gives us great pleasure to check one off the list: the construction of the second Niger Bridge."

"President Buhari, the South-East will remember you as you leave office." It will not be a mistake to refer to the Minister of Works, Babatunde Fashola, as "Mr. Infrastructure." This is indeed a fulfilled promise.

"We express our heartfelt gratitude for connecting Anambra, Asaba, and Delta".

Governor Soludo thanked the President and the Federal Government of Nigeria for completing the project which he described as critical.

Earlier, President Buhari expressed delight at being able to provide developmental services as part of his efforts to upgrade and renew Nigeria's infrastructure, stressing that it is used to combat poverty and promote economic growth for the people.

"Getting out of poverty is much more difficult without infrastructure investment!" This reflects our administration's emphasis on the well-being of the people.

"The second Niger Bridge is now a reality, and it will provide business efficiency and service in a timely manner."

"It is my distinct honor to open the bridge to the public." This is an example of the long-term change that we promised," President Buhari said.

On his part, Minister of Works and Housing, Mr Babatunde Raji Fashola stated that the bridge's unveiling connects every part of Nigeria, which he described as a story of development.

"The Mohammed Buhari 2nd Niger Bridge is a story about how Buhari's policies meet people where they are, how travel time has been reduced by half, and how multi-dimensional poverty has been pushed back".

In their separate speeches, the Governor of Delta State Represented by his Chief of Staff, Rt. Hon. Ovie Agas and the Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma, said that the bridge which is a promise made and kept will link the old Eastern region, old western region and outside the world.

The Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, State Minister for Works, and Housing, Hon. Umar Ibrahim El-Yakub, Chief of Staff to Governor Soludo, Mr. Ernest Ezeajughi, President-General Ohaneze Ndigbo, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, MD Julius Berger, Dr. Lars Richter among others attended the event which also featured official unveiling of the project by Senator Ngige on behalf the President, flanked by the Governors and others.
