Cubana Chiefpriest Escapes Armed Attack In Anambra

Celebrity barman, Okechukwu Pascal, popularly known as Cubana Chiefpriest, has escaped unhurt from an armed attack in Anambra State.

While his vehicle was riddled with bullets, Cubana Chiefpriest said him and his entourage are safe.

He said, "God Did!!! The marathon continues, all my people are safe & sound. Sh*t never happened here in Imo. It happened in Anambra on my way to work in Asaba. Fact remains the entire South-East needs to be sanitized completely."

ASUU Strike: Firm Offers Scholarships In Data Analytics

A digital firm, Dataleum, has announced scholarships for 100 students affected by the ongoing Academic Staff Union of Universities strike.

The 100 students will learn Data Analytics for free from the company, as part of efforts to mark their third anniversary.

Speaking with Punch Online, the Chief Executive Officer of the firm, Bode Roberts said, "With the ongoing ASUU strike,
we believe a lot of students will benefit greatly from this opportunity to upskill and become technically sound in Data Analytics."

Roberts revealed that the scholarship targets include penultimate and final year students in Nigerian universities.

Femi Gbajabiamila, the Speaker of Nigeria’s lower legislative chamber, the House of Representatives, has displayed photos of his resumption at Harvard for a leadership course.

Irrespective of the ongoing Nigeria Labour Congress protest today, He shared photos of himself in a classroom.

The Nigeria Labour Congress ' protests across the nation is in solidarity with the striking members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities.

ASUU has been on strike for over five months.

"My Hero, My Beloved Brother, The Only Son" - Sister Mourns Army Captain Killed By Terrorists During Attack On Presidential Guards Troops In Abuja

Army Captain, Samuel Attah was k!lled when terrorists attacked troops of the 7 Guards Battalion of the Nigerian Army Presidential Guards Brigade in Bwari area of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT)

It was gathered that the soldiers were ambushed on Sunday July 24, after they visited the Nigeria Law School in Bwari following a distress call from the authorities of the school.

The school management was said to have alerted that terrorists had dropped a letter indicating an imminent attack on the school.

A sister to the slain soldier, Attachegbe Rita Samuel, said he was only son of their aged parents.

"My pride, my hero, my beloved brother...Hmmm I lack words to express this dream. I can't believe I am typing this. Rest in a very perfect peace. Captain Attah Samuel.God! God! God! Jesus help my family, my age parents. Ah! Only son! Who shall defend us." she wrote. Oriental Times

Bandit kingpin, Abu Sanni, in a documentary released, yesterday, by the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) Africa Eye, said insecurity in Nigeria has become a business everyone, including the government benefits from.

Yusuf Anka, a journalist, who crisscrossed remote bandit enclaves in the state, undertook the 50 minutes documentary titled The Bandit Warlords of Zamfara.

The BBC documentary sheds light on the mindset of bandit leaders, the booming nature of the kidnap-for-ransom business and how insecurity in Zamfara State may have been triggered by ethnic conflict between Hausa and Fulani groups.

The bandits who spoke with the BBC team accused the government of neglecting them and giving priority to the Hausa community.

Sanni said the 279 schoolgirls who were kidnapped on February 27, 2021 in Jangebe, Talata-Mafara Local Council area of Zamfara State by his gang was done to disgrace the government as revenge for sending the military after them.

He said his gang demanded N300 million from government for the release of the schoolgirls but N60 million was paid.

“When the rainy season ended, they sent the military after us. We decided to show the government they should not interfere in our problems. We went to Jangebe and took the students. We wanted to get the government angry,” he said.

“We demanded N300 million but after negotiations, N60 million was paid for their release.”

When asked what the money for the ransom was used for, he said the proceed was spent on buying riffles.

“Everyone is benefiting from terrorism in Nigeria, including the government, from top to bottom. The government get money, though, for our money, blood spill.”

"As an elder statesman in this country, atimes we sit and analyze some critical decisions which is affecting our democracy and the possible ways to tackle such decisions for it not to destroy our democracy.

"We all are aware of the new electoral act reform signed by Mr President that the results of every elections in Nigeria be electronically transmitted into the INEC server.

"Atimes bringing up leadership ideas is good but it should be weighed thoroughly if it will have any negative consequences in our present day society. We all witnessed what happened in Osun State where someone who's not supposed to win an election automatically became the winner because of the new electoral act.

"It will be better we go back to our previous way of conducting an election in Nigeria where elections are conducted free and fair with the presence of party agents. After election, the results will be sorted out one after the other to know if there are issues of over voting or manipulations but this new reform does not provide such opportunity, which means that as the electorates are voting, results are going directly to INEC server immediately.

"What has advantage also has its own disadvantages. The earlier we rise up against this new reform before it destroys our democracy, due better for all of us because since this new act came on board, it has already started affecting our hard earned democracy already with what happened in Osun State, well meaning Nigerians will surely rise against such reform before it destroys our democracy."
