THE LAST FREE RHINOS Episode 1
Today, Namibia is home to the last free-roaming population of black rhinos outside official protected areas. The northwestern regions of Erongo and Kunene are the setting for this story.
The Last Free Rhinos follows the tale of Namibia's rhino conservation community and how collaborative efforts have resulted in this tremendous success story and curbed wildlife crime in the region.
The Namibia Nature Foundation (NNF) with contributions from World Wildlife Fund Namibia (WWF), Save the Rhino Trust Namibia, and the Integrated Rural Development and Nature Conservation (IRDNC), has produced this docu-series. It focuses on community conservation efforts - specifically around combatting wildlife crime.
It has also focused on elevating rural voices to ensure that they are heard and build pride amongst communities that live with wildlife to understand that they are custodians of our wildlife. In this way, the docu-series is designed to strengthen individual and community recognition, pride, and dignity of the people who live with wildlife and of the nation.
This docu-series has been proudly funded and endorsed by the USAID - US Agency for International Development.
The series was created by Venture Media and Kirsty Watermeyer.
