Police in Lilongwe have arrested seven suspected armed robbers who are suspected to be involved in killings and robberies in Lilongwe.
National Police spokesperson Peter Kalaya said that the suspects are connected to five criminal cases, including the murder of a Chinese national at Njewa and the stealing of K35 million in Lilongwe's Area 3.
He said: "We found these people with two vehicles, an AK-47 and a pistol which they were using. So far, their arrest has helped us to solve five criminal cases which the police have been following up."
Kalaya further explained that these suspected criminals were operating from Mangochi but had Lilongwe-based operatives as possible target identifiers for their criminal operations.
The suspects are six men and one woman. The Police have identified the suspects as; Mussah Austine (50), Tailosi Mkwapatila (44), Yamikani Alderico Petro (42), Muhammad Jamali (41), Yusufu Adam (40), Blessings James (34), and Precious Biliat (31). Kalaya further said that these suspects have been targeting Chinese nationals.
