The Judiciary has dismissed the findings of the Round 10 of the Afrobarometer survey, which shows that 40 percent of Malawians believe judges and magistrates often decide cases based on the influence of political leaders.
According to secretary general of the Magistrates and Judges Association of Malawi (Majam) Peter Kandulu, there are established channels for seeking justice through appeals if individuals feel aggrieved by court decisions.

The University of Malawi (Unima) has this evening launched the Afrobarometer Survey Support Unit at Unima campus in Zomba.
According to Unima's Vice Chancellor Samson Sajidu surveys are important to universities.
He said they gather primary data which provides students and other researchers with reliable data from the people they want to study.
Unima's Ececutive Dean for the School of Law, Governance and Economics, Happy Kayuni said the unit will help both students and the nation to assess people's thoughts, opinions, feelings and behaviours.
Afrobarometer Malawi's director of surveys Boniface Dulani highlighted that Unima is the third Afrobarometer Survey Support Unit globally after Michigan State University and University of Capetown.
"The unit will foster high quality data and enhanced capacity building in the country," he said.
Unima's public administration students Sibongire Madise and Alinafe Mkandawire as well as political science student Tadala Gwazayani said the unit will improve the students' educational outcomes.
