The majority of the fats required by the human body can be synthesized from other fats or raw materials. Omega-3 fatty acids, on the other hand, are not in this category (also called omega-3 fats and n-3 fats). These are necessary fats, which the body cannot produce on its own and must obtain from food. Fish, vegetable oils, nuts (particularly walnuts), flax seeds, flaxseed oil, and green vegetables are all high in Omega-3.
Omega-3 fatty acids are naturally present in some foods and are also added to fortified foods. You can obtain omega-3s by taking a supplement as well as consuming food varieties including the ones listed below:
· Seafood, including fish (especially cold-water fatty fish, such as salmon, mackerel, tuna, herring, and sardines)
· Seeds and nuts (such as flaxseed, chia seeds, and walnuts)
· Plant based oils (such as flaxseed oil, soybean oil, and canola oil)
· Foods with added nutrients (such as certain brands of eggs, yogurt, juices, milk, soy beverages, and infant formulas).
Benefits of Omega-3 fatty acids include:
· Fights depression and anxiety
· Improved eye health
· Lowers blood pressure
· Promotes brain health during pregnancy and early life
· Fights inflammation
