Today, on the International Day of the World's Indigenous People, let us celebrate their undeniable value in linking us to the birth of our country's civilizations, while also taking to heart the valuable lesson they offer in simply existing; nature provides everything essential for life to thrive.

Barbara Sansoni revolutionized the concept of colour and design in Sri Lanka. Her amazing energy created a cottage industry in the Island that represented the vibrant personality of the Island. Inspired by the colours of Sri Lanka, her designs were never accidental. Her encouragement towards the traditional arts and crafts of Sri Lanka impacted the life of many, most significantly empowering young women in the island.

Today as you leave behind your legacy we thank you for your timeless designs and creativity which transformed the attitude towards the vibrant and distinctive Island style taking Sri Lanka to the world and bringing the world to Sri Lanka.

You will be missed. May your final journey be peaceful and colourful.

As mother earth calls for urgent action with Nature suffering, oceans being polluted with plastic, extreme heat, floods, fires and diseases, man still continues to disrupt the biodiversity of the planet by deforestation, livestock production, illegal wildlife trade, warfare and destruction.

This international Mother Earth Day, Let's remind ourselves that the environment is where we all meet; where all have a mutual interest; it is the one thing all of us share…. Let us make an effort to help protect it even in the smallest of acts not today but everyday. 🇱🇰
