ATTENTION! ✈️ Adelaide Airport is commencing its Main Runway and Taxiways Overlay Project (MRTOP) from Wednesday 4th October until August 2024. This project will ensure the safety and serviceability of aircraft operations for the next 10 – 12 years. In order for these works to be completed, our main runway (Runway 05/23) will be periodically closed during curfew hours for essential maintenance.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN? 🦺 During an initial closure period of 4th – 23rd October between 11pm – 6am, minimal curfew-exempted aircrafts will use our cross runway (Runway 12/30) while the main runway is closed. If you live to the southeast or northwest of Adelaide Airport, you may notice an increase in aircraft movements during these times.

We will provide further updates on runway works as the project progresses. We appreciate your understanding as we undertake these important works.

Emirates is upgrading its Sydney services to all Airbus A380S and plans to return to Adelaide South Australia 🇦🇺

The airline currently has three daily flights to Melbourne and Sydney, two daily flights to Brisbane, and a daily A380 service to Perth. Due to having only three landing slots at Sydney Airport, the sole option to increase seat capacity was upsize from the Boeing 777 to the double-decker A380.

Emirates is in talks with Adelaide Airport (ADL) in South Australia to resume nonstop services. This will become feasible next year when the Airbus A350 becomes part of the fleet, allowing for more long-range aircraft availability to serve destinations such as Adelaide.

Hundreds of Air NZ pilots to be recalled as airline looks at possible return to service for grounded Boeing 777-300s✈️👇

Air New Zealand has begun the process of reinstating and retraining pilots who were stood down at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a statement to Newshub, the airline's general manager pilots Craig Tolley said it has been getting ready for take-off since the Government announced the loosening of border requirements from mid-January.

some of the pilots returning to the airline for training operate the Boeing 777-300 aircraft, an aircraft type whose future at the airline was in doubt after Air NZ sent its 777-300 fleet to the desert for storage. However a source close to the 777 programme said the airline may return as many as all 12 of the long-haul fleet to service by the end of 2022.

Qantas brings back Sydney-London Airbus A380 flights🔥✈️🇦🇺👇

The flagship superjumbo returns to the Kangaroo Route.
Qantas' Kangaroo Route from Sydney to London will once again feature the Airbus A380 as of October 30, 2022.

This will be the second destination for the red-tailed superjumbo after it takes wing on the Sydney-Los Angeles route in late March 2022, and comes as the double-decker jets returned from hibernation in California's Mojave Desert several years earlier than Qantas expected.

The airline's initial projections were that demand for international travel wouldn't reach the pre-pandemic levels needed to fill the 485-seat airliner until 2023-2024.

However, a surge of bookings as Australia's borders reopen without quarantine for fully-vaccinated flyers provided a shot in the arm for the superjumbo's prospects.

And in common with all of the returning red-tailed A380s, this one has been upgraded with the latest business class and premium economy seats, along with two new 'premium lounges' at the front of the upper deck and refreshed first class suites

Qantas recommenced its flagship Sydney-London QF1 service on November 1, with a Boeing 787 Dreamliner standing in for the A380 – and with a stopover at Darwin instead of Singapore until late March 2022.

The airline plans to reopen its Singapore Business Lounge in "early December" to cater for Sydney and Melbourne 'VTL' flights, with the Qantas First Lounge expected to follow in early 2022.

Lufthansa Will Bring The Airbus A340-600 Back To Frankfurt✈️💙👇

Lufthansa is set to bring the Airbus A340-600 back to Frankfurt after all, even if not for a long time. According to the schedule data, the A340-600 will operate 47 rotations from Lufthansa’s main hub during early 2022. The airline is yet to schedule flights from Munich with the type, despite the Barvarian city initially being earmarked for the type.

Every now and again, miracles do happen, and it seems that the Airbus A340-600 will benefit from one of these miracles. It had seemed hit or miss whether the type would return, having been stored in the Spanish desert. In January, the airline’s CEO Carsten Spohr said that the aircraft wouldn’t return to the skies at all. However, Lufthansa revealed that five of the type would indeed return to the skies earlier this year.

Boeing Eyes A $6.8 Trillion Asia-Pacific Aviation Market By 2040✈️👇

In a highly bullish forecast, Boeing expects the demand for new aircraft and after-sales service across the Asia-Pacific region over the next two decades to be worth US$6.8 trillion. That’s trillion, not billion. If correct, it will mark a stunning rebound for the region still heavily impacted by COVID-19.

A bullish Asia-Pacific forecast from Boeing,

Boeing’s recently released 2021 Commercial Market Outlook makes the bold prediction. They expect the Asia-Pacific region to account for almost half of the global air traffic by 2040. They estimate the region will need 17,645 new commercial aircraft, which Boeing values at US$3.1 trillion.

To support existing and new aircraft, Boeing expects airlines in the region will require after-sales support valued at US$3.7 trillion.

Except for domestic airline travel within China, airlines and airline markets across the Asia-Pacific region have struggled to recover from COVID-19. In particular, intra-Asia-Pacific international flying remains significantly down on pre-COVID levels.

But bolstered by rising vaccination levels, Boeing thinks Asia-Pacific carriers are well-positioned to capitalize on recovering business and leisure travel as well as air cargo transportation.
