Campus Chronicles

Campus Chronicles Chronicles is a contemporary art and culture project platform for African young creatives. However, it found its way back nearly a decade later.

Chronicles is an independent collaborative digital magazine and project platform for African young creatives focused on contemporary art and culture. It publishes in-depth articles on the creative world’s opinions, art news, exhibition reviews, opinion and think-pieces, interviews, culture, travel, fashion editorials, visual arts, music, photo essays, design, critical thinking, recent work from se

lected artists and topical features. Our primary focus is the East-African art scene, but with correspondents in African capitals like Lagos, Capetown, Kinshasha, Abidjan, and Luanda while covering related international stories that offer new perspectives that pay attention to the discursive changes brought on by developments in technology and communication. Initially founded in 2011 and officially launched in 2012, the magazine ran 16 issues before it folded its operations in 2013 owing to working capital challenges. It re-launched as a creative arts project platform for young African creatives seeking to be writers, artists, designers, photographers, filmmakers, musicians, and so on. Working at the intersection of modernity and pan-africanism, we feature a diverse range of experimental and emerging practices from the most radical contemporary African voices. The idea is to bring young African creatives from different genres together and support them in developing projects that re-imagine contemporary African culture and what it means and feels to be African.
