2. DOES THE CHILD KNOW THEIR BIOLOGICAL FATHER AND DOES HIS NAME APPEAR IN THE BIRTH CERTIFICATE? If the answer to both questions is yes, then be ready to share family time with her Ex or to be a third wheel in a crowd. You will get into complex legal headwinds if you attempt to adopt a child whose birth certificate has names of their two biological parents. That child will never be yours whatsoever.
3. WHAT WAS THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE MOTHER AND HER BABY DADDY? – If they were legally married, ask for and authenticate the court decree (order) that annulled the marriage. If the marriage was customary, let her give you an affidavit or a letter from her Chief confirming that customary divorce was concluded. If she conceived in the heat of momentary fun, get her account corroborated by an independent third party.
4. WILL SHE ALLOW YOU TO ADOPT THE CHILD LEGALLY AND RAISE THEM AS YOUR OWN? – If a woman is able, ready and willing to make you the legal guardian of her child, that’s a good sign that she is honest & willing to commit. THE S*X YOU MUST NOT HAVE.
