The Nile Explorer-The Mirror of Africa shall be updating on peace implementation process, what the R-National Legislature is doing on new legislative transformation, legal reforms and amendments on the old laws to conform to R-ARCSS and constitution.

As the R-ARCSS was designated to last for a period, from 22/2/2020 to 22/2/2023, the implementation process could not be completed on time. Thus forcing the political leaders to extend its life from 22/2/2023 to 22/2/2025. It is then that General elections will be conducted. This extension was and is supported by over 90 percent of South Sudanese, IGAD, the UN and special U turns by friends of South Sudan, the Troika (the US, UK and Norway).

Now, the newly extended period seems to be impacting on hopes for successful implementation, because the leaders who signed the R-ARCSS, are starting to understand, cooperate and trying to work together, specially after the dutiful visit by Pope Francis and Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welbi, on 3-5 February 2023. Their Ecumenism decremented our hopes and restored national commitment by Government leaders, as their join efforts and indicatives of their new speeches on reconciliation, forgiveness and collective “working together.”

Peace and security is, at last, prevailing in South Sudan, and so comes the time for Americans to lift sanctions on the country , in favour of peace and humanitarian plight by citizens on hunger, displacements and death.

In my opinion, the time is up for American sanctions to elapse or remove, since they were part and parcel of war efforts. Following the fact that the former warring parties are in new era of real peace and government, any cohesive activitirities on them should be considered irrelevance to peace efforts. Sanctions at this stage, only evidence the US double standards, in fighting for democracy on one hand and supporting autocratic governments on the other hand. The R-ARCSS, therefore fortunately, contains the hybrid court setting up to purposely deals and reviews, past accountabilities over possible violations to rules of war, but then, why continue fighting the two main leaders in the R-ARCSS, President Salva Kiir Mayardit, SPLM, and First Vice President Riek Machar, SPLM (IO)?
