"The year that Okonkwo took eight hundred seed yams from Nwakibie was the worst year in living memory. Nothing happened at its proper time; it was either too early or too late. It seemed as if the world had gone mad. The first rains were late and when they came, lasted only a brief moment... The drought continued for eight market weeks and the yams were killed... The year had gone mad. When the rains finally returned, they fell as it had never fallen before. Trees were uprooted and deep gorges appeared everywhere.

That year, the harvest was sad, like a funeral and many farmers wept as they dug up the miserable and rotting yams. One man tied his cloth to a tree branch and hanged himself.

Okonkwo remembered that tragic year with a cold shiver throughout the rest of his life. It always surprised him when he thought about it later that he did not sink under the load of despair. He knew he was a fierce fighter, but that year had been enough to break the heart of a lion.

"Since I survived that year," he always said, "I shall survive anything."" - Chinua Achebe, Things Fall Apart

This Author called Ngùgī Wa Thiong'o is the one of the greatest writers among African, I reckoned he would be after Chinua Achebe and Wole Soyinka. The elites who shortlist noble prize winners on literature never for a single year endorsed him and he's still an idol in writing of African literature. Who knows, his brilliant writing in his book "Devil on the cross" irritated the white when he said that he has European names saying it in a funny rejuvenating ways.

The last noble prize winner was Tanzanian writer who was not known clearly, while the above writer was here in Africa waking up folks on African literature.

So be alerted that when your idea hit harder don't expect an accolade the same to writing stuffs that irritate. An eagle can not be impressed by chicken, they won't reach the eagle in the sky. This is how I view my favorite writer Ngùgī.

Reading not only provide the brain with ideas and the said "knowledge", but it awaken buried intelligentsia in one's brain tissues and the nerves.

STATE CAPTURE.
By Andayi Churchill Winston.
The return of the dark bad days of moi's regime and the epitome of state capture are slowly returning back to life, the draconian laws of the then gone days are being revived as the masterminders resuscitate the gone memoirs of the past.

The old wounds that had swollen and healed under poor medical care that came as a result of the order from above are slowly returning as the healed scars swell afresh based on the political party affiliation one is subscribing to, its just t the other day one state officer alleged that this country is like a company the more shares one has the more powerful and audience one is entitled to command.

This is the really state capture, that has been told in different platforms for citizens to empathize and sympathise but the pity and sympathy has turned into different quarters based on the party affiliation one is coming from.

Corruption and mudslinging is now the new child in town, holders of public office abusing the said independent offices and no one bothers to resign but instead defends their course of action,as leaders are being auctioned like goats at the market with solid reason to counter each other on different political platforms, no one is addressing the high cost of living, our children missing classes while our people go on a hungry stomach.

When real issues that affect every kenyan is being politicised to appear like a political war and muscles, things are that bad when those said to be advising the father of the nation assures him things are okay and under control, who will tell him the bitter truth, when everyone says he's the only person with authority to approve the consent of meeting Him, perhaps we don't under what state capture means.

When independent institutions are gagged are access to public offices doors barricaded just to depict the real state capture, we're losing value as a nation we villify our leaders in democratic state where one has the free will to bel

Romeo and Juliet is a tragic play written by William Shakespeare. The play tells the story of two young lovers from feuding families, Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet, who are forced to keep their love a secret and ultimately meet tragic ends.

The play begins with a street brawl between members of the Montague and Capulet families, which is broken up by the Prince of Verona. Romeo, a Montague, is infatuated with a woman named Rosaline, but she does not return his feelings. He attends a Capulet party in disguise, where he meets and instantly falls in love with Juliet, a Capulet.

The two secretly marry with the help of Juliet's nurse and Friar Lawrence, a Catholic priest. However, their happiness is short-lived as Romeo kills Tybalt, Juliet's cousin, in a duel. As punishment, Romeo is exiled from Verona.

Desperate to be reunited with Romeo, Juliet turns to Friar Lawrence for help and he devises a plan for her to take a potion that will make her appear dead, so that she can be reunited with Romeo in secret. The plan goes awry when Romeo, believing Juliet to be dead, buys poison and goes to her tomb to commit su***de. Juliet awakens to find Romeo dead beside her, and in her grief, she also takes her own life.

The tragic deaths of Romeo and Juliet bring the Montague and Capulet families to reconcile, and the Prince of Verona declares that there will be no more fighting between the two families.

The play is a classic love story, but also it reflects the destructive nature of family feuds, and the powerful and dangerous nature of youthful passion. The play is widely considered one of Shakespeare's greatest works and has been adapted into countless films, operas, and ballets.

WHEN TRUST IS BROKEN UP SORRY MEANS NOTHING.

BY: ANDAYI CHURCHILL WINSTON.
When i found love my heart felt it from the bottom, I truly loved, cherished and treasured it, I was in love, every day I could figure out how the world and the heavens were good to me,for the language my heart and soul understood was true love,

I trusted and honoured it for love was the only bridge for as to cross and burry our tribal lines, hatred and all impediments, just because I was in love, confined my self within the pillars of our love, subscribed to all the principles of trust and love,

My love changed from time to time,
Everything became peculiar, the person looked stranger and teared our love apart, my trust was broken and sorry meant no meaning for love turned sour, bitter and useless, I could not find myself anymore for my husband became a community husband,

Our love faded away and later crumbled,. I sobbed in tears for whatever was precious became valueless and nasty , for I lost a precious thing and that was true love,
The society judged me wrongly, called me names and burdened me with the outcome of our union, lost the urge to love,

When trust is broken sorry means totally nothing for whatever reason everything never went back to normal ,when the love is orchestrated, cultivate it,value it, trust trust trust and that's the only way to go,

When love dimishes, blame is placed on the woman, she's called insecure, among other names but the burden becomes more and more she can't take any more and things finally fall apart, love becomes suicidal,
When trust is broken sorry means nothing.

*End.*

IT IS SUCH A SAD AFFAIR.
BY ANDAYI CHURCHILL WINSTON.

It is a sad affair to live in a country where Peter is robbed to pay Paul,
Day in day out the government is turning deaf ears to the common "mwannanchi,
Promise after promise but nothing worth the promise is delivered when shall we be freed?

We wake up with our heads high, to toil and moil till later nights just to put something on our tables,
Hand to mouth is our life style just to afford a meal but it's an exercise in futility,
With the tax man hacking us to death,
It's such a sad affair,

Prices are hicking, and the promises promised dwindling,
Our array of hope diminishing, we can't smile any more for the energy to smile is no more,
From famine to drought, and hunger ain't breaking news anymore, our loyalty is thwarted, abused and misused,

It's a sad affair the downtrodden can sing in one voice for they're the most affected while the other class is awarded greatly for their loyalty to their respective leaders while our loyalty at the ballot is torn to tatters, our affairs are no longer important for the poor hoipollois are no longer heard but seen,

The tax man has promised to doubled up their taxes just to kill the commoner for they have no say but be seen and to be heard, our decision was so genuine least did we know that it was a punishment in disguise, now we're helpless, the tax man is choking us,our lives are in ICU we can't breathe on our own, we're in comma,

It is a sad affair that resources that are meant to support the commoner can't reach the commoner, the bandits killing our innocent men and women while the political class discuss their own selfless issues, young men and women dying in the line of duty,no one can address their plight, whom are you going to lead if we all die?

Save our people in the rift, deal with your issues as a political class,do not gamble with life, protect us from this militia, our women are dying, our children can't access the basic needs for there's no hope for tomorrow

Its early in the morning as usual, corporal Maingi is the first to arrive at the station with the police land cruiser, parks it next to the flag post and he's interrupted with his colleagues who've woken up early for the usual master parade.
Suddenly corporal kiptanui and constable Angwenyi arrive ready to set off to court, constable Marwa arrives with several case files.
Right away they proceed to the cells and sergeant major Makale is on standby, then sergeant major Oluoch, former General service unit officer (GSU) joins them and constable Marwa takes the lead, calls the remandees one by one.
This time Stacy's name is cited and she instantly confirms "Niko Afande" smiles and quickly joins the rest.
The land cruiser is reversed next to the police station entrance door, constable Marwa and Agwenyi quickly asks the suspects to board the cruiser as corporal Maingi awaits a command from corporal kiptanui to set off.
Finally the land cruiser sets off and moment of silence prevails for a while and after 15 minutes of drive, Stacy breaks the impasse, smiles and says "thank you very much Afande's for hosting me in unbearable condition, this was the genesis but it’s my own fault sir.
And for my colleagues I know your cases are light and anytime soon you will be bailed out, when you are freed, be law abiding citizens"(tears rolling). This shocks constable Marwa and Angwenyi looks confused but takes it easy.
At last, they reach the destination and the court's gate is opened, corporal Maingi parks the land cruiser and the remandees a lights as quick as possible and walks right away to the court as corporal kiptanui leads and Constable Marwa follows closely with the alleged suspect

BITTER EPISODE PART 4.

(The events shift to Mathare mental Hospital and later to the remand as the remandee awaits the set date for the mention of her aforementioned case by senior magistrate Lemmyan)
After two days back in the police custody, Sergeant major Makale and constable Angwenyi approaches Stacy and keeps her posted that they will be travelling to Nairobi at wee hours.
And sergeant major Oluoch former General Service unit officer will take with her alongside corporal kiptanui, the officer in charge of Stacy's alleged murder case, constable Marwa will es**rt them while constable Angwenyi remains in charge of the office for the normal duties of the day.
Surprisingly, Stacy declines saying “she does not need to visit a psychiatrist, for she's sane” she adds, what landed her in the cells was crime of passion and she didn't intend to do that, but this time round constable Angwenyi does not take it easy claiming that Stacy had all the time in court she pleaded not guilty.
And since senior magistrate Lemmyan has issued a directive and it appears as a deliberate order, it has to be done as it is but still Stacy reiterates she doesn't need to get a psychiatrist for she's sane.
The following day at dawn, exactly 0600 hrs. sergeant major Oluoch and corporal kiptanui are already up, ready to leave, the land cruiser arrives and this time the driver is corporal Maingi, at the back is constable Marwa on standby ready to leave,.
Marwa alights with his AK 47 gun jets to the police cells calls Stacy's noun and handcuffs her and this time she doesn't says a word but corporates which shocks corporal kiptanui most. They all boards the land cruiser while constable Marwa and the aforesaid remandee boards the cruiser at the back, and this time constable doesn't smile, for the suspects case is heinous.

BITTER EPISODE PART 3.
By: Andayi Churchill Winston.
(The events shift to the police cells and later to the courts as Stacy appears as the prime suspect and is blamed for the demise of Mr. Mwakanze.)
It's at 0600hrs, constable Angwenyi appears at the OB desk with several case files as he awaits corporal kiptanui, the officer in charge of Stacy's murder case to gussy up, for its a day scheduled for Stacy's and her colleague remandees to appear in court, and from their faces one is able to tell that it's hell in the cells, for life tends to be unbearable.
As the usual the police norm has been, the suspects have to be called out for them to confirm their presence, and constable Marwa takes the lead to ensure all are present, while his counterpart Mr. Angwenyi, keeps an eye to the case files.
Suddenly sergeant major Oluoch, a former General service unit officer (GSU) which many term it as "FFU"(Fanya Fujo Uone), a national police unit that is mainly known for anti-riots comes in alongside corporal kiptanui and drama ensues when Stacy's noun is mentioned and silence prevails for a while, this annoys constable Marwa prompting him to slap Stacy on her right cheek.
This action lands Stacy to the cold floor of the cells and pi**es off sergeant major Makale, who then asks Stacy why she ain't responded when her noun was cited.
Shockingly Stacy's smiles and says " Afande there was no need for I'm the only Stacy in the police custody" this annoys corporal kiptanui further and he holds her ransom but later loses his temper and then orders constable Marwa to handcuff them as they board the police land cruiser.
The land cruiser sets off the journey this is at 0700hrs with corporal kiptanui now with the case files while constable Angwenyi and Marwa are the es**rt, keeps in check of the security of the suspects.
Corporal Kiptanui is heard saying on phone he has one prime suspect of a murder case, and the rest are obvious cases that are likely to be bailed out after the mention, this

BITTER EPISODE PART 2
By Andayi Churchill Winston
(The events shifts to Lucy Gathoni's home for the deceased to be laid to rest as the community mourns in grief but nothing can be done, but for Stacy life took a different turn for the crime committed is grievous...)
It was 0200 hours when the police land cruiser came to the Scene, to calm the situation as they collect the body of the late Mr Geoffrey Mwakanze but many knew him as Burton jacks, a pseudo noun he got for proficiently speaking the queens language with eloquence.
The ugly exchange between the police and the chanting crowd went for half an hour, but at last the crowd hanged the boots for the police were armed to the teeth and ready to until the last borne could break, for there was no retreat nor surrender.
Teargas cylinders were utilized to allow peace and sanity to be restored but Stacy was wailing and bleeding profusely, for the crowd had vowed to lynch her for them to pay back for the loss of life of this pauper.
Lucy Gathoni Mwakanze's wife, speaks vehemently, as crocodile tears rolls down her cheeks.
She declines that the late won't be laid to rest, at their home because the deceased had abandoned her with ten children when he firmly knew they were legitimately married and his support to the family could factor inevitable changes, but he seldomly did that while he was a live.
These news shocks the crowd but the crowd mumbles in low tones and finally the police manages to carry the co**se to the mortuary, while the Stacy the culprit, she's handcuffed and es**rted to the police cells for further probe and investigation.
Life takes a different turn of events as the deceased's children decline being involved in the affairs of the late for he had nothing to offer them when they strongly needed him.
The crowd chants as they find their way to the police station and Stacy's noun is heard from every corner "the husband snatcher, the murderer" but again the area is teargased just to calm the situation for th

BITTER EPISODE PART1.

(The events unfold at the den of low class citizens, where Mr. Mwakanze a frequent visitor converges with his counter parts to consume some brew and Stacy young teen girl is their all time servant)
When I got to the scene, couldn’t hold my tears a back, stood firm but my weary face revealed a lot to those who could read between the lines, for I was speechless, and the incident had made me a bystander.
I couldn’t believe what I was seeing with my aided eyes, should I call it Hollywood or Bollywood can’t differentiate the two, although they stand distinct.
Let’s call her Stacy (not her Really noun) but the drama queen of the day, little teen girl who could not stand her height and age but she drew all kinds of men around her because of her distinct melanin.
She was cute one of her clients admitted although slurring in speech but since was sober could tell the client was judging from mirage.
The drama queen short and fat, majority could call her heavy weight, she had caused men to line up be it at dawn or dusk for she cared less.
Women could cry but the cries felt on deaf ears for she had held hostage all the men and depleted all the monies these hardworking good for nothing fellows could earn.
Call them peanuts but to them it was a salary that could not aid paying neither rent or school fees since it was taken before the rightful beneficiaries could put it in use to supplement them in either way.
Lucy Gathoni (not her really name) came from the crowd moved closer and shouted at the scene, my husband oh! Our husband; since the so called husband couldn’t control his drinking and promiscuous behavior was silently lying in a pool of blood as blood oozed profusely from his right eye and nose.
The man was a frequent visitor in Stacy’s residence now was a prey and victim of circumstances.

POLITICAL DIMWITS.
By:Andayi Churchill winston.

Welcome to +254 where political misleaders resign from positions that has nothing to do with their actions,
+254 is a place we all call home but wanjiku is left homeless and blamed for not doing what the so called leaders can't do but impel.

Welcome to +254, where every leader preach what they can't practice, where they preach water and take wine, welcome to this country where political dimwittedness is the order of the day,

+254 is a wonderful country with very wonderful people in the name of leaders who Rob Peter to pay Paul, this is +254 where wanjiku is asked to take a balance diet when they can't even afford a single meal just a day.

This +254 where donors donate funds to help wanjiku across board but they help a few political class, welcome to Kenya where rules are made and imposed on wanjiku to abide by but broken by the very day, by the said dimwits.

Welcome to Kenya where politicians are leaders during the day and misleaders during the night, welcome to this country where leaders fight the security agencies and still seek the very security at the expense of the tax payers money.

Welcome to +254 where money is siphoned from the public coffers but treated as public relations and political mind games, this Kenya a country we call home but still have squatters when politicians acquire pieces of land illegally but still deny in broad daylight.

As I end my pen to night I go to bed every day a sad man thinking and figuring out when neocolonialism will end but political dimwittedness is at a record high, and dimwits running up and down to convince the poor hoipollois who work hard to pay their leaders salary when they survive with peanuts.

+254 I say it's savage, but we're clouded with stupidity we still fight and practice pedestrian politics, supporting leaders coz based on tribal grounds, suffer in the very hands and after election we're suffer the very fate.

THE CAMPUS CHRONICLES
By: ANDAYI CHURCHILL WINSTON.

The higher institution of learning is said to be a place of transformation and sets transition in the lives of scholars with a majority self- rediscovering themselves, by realising their hidden potential and a myriad of talents which becomes subsidiary to their career of choice.

Our university being a private institution situated in one of the outskirts of kiambu just a few kilometers from limuru town, being the only place we called home since we were home away from home was the only place we could grow up holistically, socially and academic wise.

A lot of activities could transpire, this kept the scholars intact and going just to beat the logic behind every determined student, drawing from the sea of knowledge.

Today I introduce to you our very own back in the days, let's call her Laurah Nashipae (not her real name)young resilient lady who captured attention of every Tom,Dick and Harry she encountered along the campus corridors and the lecturers weren't spared either.

The institution having set Three sets of classes namely the Rich, the middle class and the poor hoipollois all journeying together for a common goal.

The institution being founded on the Christian principles had set of rules and regulations which was our way of Operation that afew naughty students could break and a majority abide by whether willingly or reluctantly and with time it became a well known tradition for everyone.

Laurah being the eye of our lecture hall could be easily spotted from a distance because of her extraordinary complexion and distinct physique and melanin, for a number of times no lecturer could leave our lecture hall without citing her noun uncountably.

Those days are still fresh in my mind,Laurah was a savior in our class when our assignments were undone and she happens to be a mong the flock no more penalties and ultimatums could be issued.

But campus being independent comrades could focus on business and agenda of

At last,he has married,
Am now less worried,

Whom together he will share a life,
But am confused,she is strange,
Hers are a wide cant do work range,
Help me please, this wife will kill me ooh.

She does not know how to cook,
She only prefers ready food on a hook,
Preparing food makes her dirty,
Her nails are painted in plenty,
She can not cut tomatoes,
Even picking,she prefers her toes,
Help me ooh, this wife will suffocate me.

House hold chores are a new thing,
She asks me to hire a new house girl,
She is too classy to do them,
Hers is online twitter chatting,

Smoke will choke her throat,
And make her voice coarse,
Today she almost killed me,
When i told her to dig,
What a hell,son please remarry.

Son,please look for a decent lady,
One with character and well behaved,
Look for a typical one,
Avoid twerky ones,lest we suffer,
Divorce her,lets have peace,
Dear son,make mum happy.

LlFE IN CAMPUS.
By Andayi Churchill Winston.

Every higher institution of learning has an obligation to train, nurture and shape the life of every individual who finds access in this respective institutions.

Drawing from the sea of knowledge may be the main thing but this institutions mould one into a relevant person, by equipping one with necessary skills that will help them dominate in life.

What really captures my mind and attention is not what the individual pursue as their career or profession but life in general.

When our children gets to campus, a number of parents assume their children are now grown ups and fail to offer the necessary pieces of advice since the very institutions portray their students as independent young people who will be in position to make rational decisions, but that's how they lose it.

When students pride in such a motive and face life in reality they end up falling prey of what nature offers them.

The social aspect of life is very important in the life of every individual, and campus offers this by bringing up a whole society from different places, who join to become one people with diverse culture hence forming a campus fraternity.

When this happens cohesion and integration takes a centre stage, a lot of divergence between groups or people may be realized but this what makes a society to be what it is and complete.

When these intellectuals gang up for one objective and need, a lot of issues ensues since a lot is shared and this maybe bad or good.

Students get to this institutions thinking that life may be a walk in the park and a bed full of roses, and things end up taking a different turn.

In these institutions vices and virtues are experienced since majority of the students are teens, and end up taking own stands by choosing what they think is good for them.

Things starts going south to those individuals who finds themselves drowning in a sea full turbulent waters, for having embraced the vices, when this happens the so
