Today, we hosted Mr. Joel Kariuki from King'ong'o Primary School, an award-winning teacher known for his innovative approach to art and environmental conservation.
Mr. Kariuki, who is the Art Club patrol at his school, is renowned for his work in converting waste materials into artistic products. His creative process involves collecting discarded plastic bottles, polythene bags, and old clothes from the River Chania and repurposing them into sculptures and other art forms.
Currently, Mr. Kariuki is busy gathering waste papers and plastic containers across Nyeri town. This effort not only supports environmental conservation but also enhances educational experiences in schools. His work is set to be showcased at the ASK Kabiru-ini Show in Nyeri next month, where he will exhibit his recycled art pieces.
Mr. Kariuki's dedication to turning waste into beauty exemplifies a commitment to both artistic expression and ecological responsibility, and his upcoming exhibition promises to highlight the potential of recycled materials in creative endeavors.
