Teachers in Marsabit County will now work under closer supervision following the introduction of a Digital Education initiative by the county government in partnership with other organizations.

This initiative is designed not only to enhance supervision but also to benefit approximately 19,000 children across Early Childhood Development and Education (ECDE) schools in the county.

By integrating modern educational technologies into the learning environment, the program aims to improve the quality of education for kindergarten students, ensuring they receive a more enriched and technologically supported educational experience.

Despite ending his 10-year tenure, which encompasses two terms, Ali has indicated his intention to remain involved in state politics and will reveal his future political plans later.

Kericho County Governor Dr. Erick Mutai assured the Senate Committee on National Cohesion, Equal Opportunity, and Regional Integration of his administration's commitment to fostering national and intercommunity cohesion and equal opportunities. During his appearance, he reported that Kericho County employs 3,869 individuals, including 1,498 males, 2,371 females, and 40 persons with disabilities.

The dominant community occupies 94% of these positions, with the remaining 6% held by non-dominant communities. His administration also prioritizes procurements for enterprises owned by women, youth, and persons with disabilities and works to raise awareness among these groups.

Nyeri County Governor Mutahi Kahiga reported a workforce of 3,831, including 1,347 males and 2,484 females, with the Kikuyu community filling 3,588 positions. The County Executive comprises 14 members, including one person with a disability serving as a Chief Officer.

The Senators urged both governors to ensure their administrations adhere to constitutional provisions promoting national cohesion and equal opportunities.

Tensions high in the Qonye area of Balesa Saru location in Dukana, Marsabit County, following a raid by armed bandits who attempted to steal camels last night.

The attackers shot a camel's calf but, according to Deputy Commissioner of Dukana, Katana Charo, no injuries or fatalities have been reported. He assured the public that police have been deployed to patrol the outskirts and advised residents to stay calm.

The precise cause of the confrontation remains unclear as the investigation continues.

This unrest follows a recent incident in Elledimtu, Maikona ward, where eight people were killed and their bodies burned by suspected individuals from neighboring Ethiopia.

On August 21, 2024, the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) announced that funding has been secured to address the delays in implementing the 2021-2025 Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). The TSC urged teachers to return to schools on Monday as the unions deliberate on potentially withdrawing their strike notice.

This development follows President William Ruto's directive for the TSC to engage with major teacher unions—KNUT, KUPPET, and KUSNET—after a strike notice was issued over unresolved issues. The TSC also addressed concerns related to Career Progression Guidelines, third-party deductions, and access to medical services under the Teachers Medical Scheme.

Additionally, resources have been allocated for teacher retooling under the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC), and the TSC has promoted 51,232 teachers through competitive promotions and 20,000 on the common cadre annually. The unions are now reviewing the TSC's updates before deciding on the strike notice.
