Established in the late 1970s in Northern California, and operating in Japan since 1979, virgin earth is Japan’s most versatile, creative and sought-after bilingual film, broadcasting and production team. Our client list in the early years included Ripley’s Believe It or Not and the Pl***oy Channel. We later got into capturing big stage shows like Dick Clark’s “Legends in Concert” tour in Asia and
music artists like The Rolling Stones, Michael Jackson, Bon Jovi and Alanis Morisette for MTV. Collectively, we have well over a century of frontline experience at major foreign and Japanese broadcasters and production houses, which is why the world’s top broadcasters, Fortune 500 firms, ad agencies and film and TV production companies rely on virgin earth. The corporate services we provide include 35mm commercials, live, multi-camera productions for satellite, web, tape and/or in-house events, corporate training videos, and much more. We count corporations such as IBM, Sony, Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Kawasaki, Citigroup, Dentsu, Sun Microsystems, Toyota, Deutsche Bank, Singapore Airlines, Siemens and Goldman Sachs as clients. We’ve handled fast-paced material over the years, too, like sports—the Superbike World Championship series for Dentsu and the 1998 Nagano Winter Olympics for NBC—as well as producing a 40-minute Disney musical for Buena Vista Home Video, concerts by Beyonce and Coldplay, and local segments for National Geographic and shows like The Next Iron Chef America. virgin earth has also worked on dozens of documentaries that range from topics about George H. Bush (as a Navy pilot shot down during World War Two) to samurais (for the History Channel) and Hiroshima to an artistic collaboration between Yo-Yo Ma and Bando Tamasaburo. We’re even credited as location managers for the epic 70mm feature film Baraka, and as local producers on its upcoming sequel, Samsara.
