Srinagar, July 28: A special summary revision of the electoral rolls is being taken up from Tuesday (August 1, 2018) in all the wards of Srinagar and Jammu Municipal corporations as per directions of the Chief Electoral Officer, J&K, with July 1, 2023, as the qualifying date for enrollment.
The terms of both the corporations are set to end in November 2023. General elections for both the bodies were held in September-October 2018.
“Whereas, in terms of Rule 12 of the J&K, Municipal Corporation (Elections) rules, 2003, the electoral rolls have to be revised in the prescribed manner before the conduct of each general election to the corporations or for any ward or for a by-election to fill a casual vacancy in such ward; whereas, it has been decided to revise/update the municipal electoral rolls for these corporations with reference to 01-07-2023 as the qualifying date,” read an order, issued by the CEO, J&K, Pandurang Pole.
As per the order, the date of publication of draft electoral rolls has been fixed as 01-08-2023. The period of filing claims and objections will be from 01 August to 13th August. The final publication of electoral rolls has been fixed as 25th August.
A madrassa teacher was apprehended on Thursday for allegedly sodomizing a minor boy in Sopore town of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
A police official said that the arrest came following a complaint lodged by a 12-year-old boy (identification withheld), who accused his madrasa teacher (identification withheld) of committing the heinous act.
Upon receiving the complaint, the police promptly initiated an investigation, leading to the arrest of the accused madrasa teacher on charges of so**my.
A senior police officer, while confirming the incident said that a case under Section 377 of the law has been registered in this connection while further investigation is underway. (KS)

San Francisco, July 28: Players of an old Call of Duty game are being infected by hackers with a worm that automatically spreads in online lobbies.
On June 26, a player of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 warned other players on a Steam forum that hackers "attack using hacked lobbies," and advised using an antivirus, reports TechCrunch.
It looks like the malware mentioned in the thread is on the malware online repository VirusTotal.
Another player claimed to have analysed the malware and said in the same forum thread that the malware seems to be a worm, based on a number of text strings inside the malware.
The presence of those strings in the malware, which suggests a worm, was confirmed by a game industry insider who asked to remain anonymous because they were prohibited from speaking to the press.

A girl died while two others were rescued and hospitalised after they jumped in a river in Poonch district last evening, police said on Saturday.
An official said that three cousin sisters jumped in the river near Sher-i-Kashmir bridge in Poonch yesterday evening.
He said soon after the incident a rescue operation was launched and all three girls were rescued and taken to a nearby hospital.
