चमोली जिले के गोपेश्‍वर में भगवान शिव का गोपीनाथ मंदिर है। मंदिर परिसर में भगवान शिव का त्रिशूल है। मान्‍यता है कि त्रिशूल पर इतनी शक्ति है कि कितना भी बलशाली इसे हिला नहीं सकता है। यदि तर्जनी अंगुली त्रिशूल पर एकाग्र होकर लगाई जाए तो यह कंपन करने लगता है।

गोपीनाथ मंदिर उत्तराखण्ड के चमोली क्षेत्र के गोपेश्वर नामक शहर में स्थित एक प्राचीन हिन्दू मंदिर है । भगवान शिव को समर्पित यह मंदिर भारत के प्रमुख रमणीय स्थलों मे से एक है ।

एक मान्यता के अनुसार जब भगवान शिव ने कामदेव को मारने के लिए अपना त्रिशूल फेंका तो वह इसी स्थान में गढ़ गया था । यह भी मान्यता है कि कोई भी मनुष्य अपनी शारीरिक शक्ति से त्रिशूल को हिला भी नहीं सकता है , यदि कोई सच्चा भक्त त्रिशूल को कोई सी ऊँगली से छू लेता है , तो उसमे कम्पन पैदा होने लगती है |

यह मंदिर इसलिए भी महत्वपूर्ण है क्यूंकि इसी स्थान पर भगवान केदारनाथ के मुखभाग रुद्रनाथ जी की उत्सव मूर्ति शीतकाल में विराजमान होती है |

दान - दान करने का अर्थ है किसी जरूरतमंद को वो चीज निशुल्क उपलब्ध करवाना, जिसे पाने में वो अक्षम है. दान करने से पहले या बाद किसी को भी दान के बारे में नहीं बताना चाहिए. दान को हमेशा गुप्त ही रखना चाहिए.

आत्म संयम - कई बार ऐसा होता है कि हमारा मन और दिमाग दोनों विपरीत दिशा में चलते हैं और हम अधर्म कर बैठते हैं. गीता में दिए गए ज्ञान के अनुसार मन को वश में कर लेने से व्यक्ति द्वारा किसी पाप को करने की संभावना रहती है.

सत्य बोलना - कलियुग में सत्य और असत्य का पता लगाना मुश्किल हो गया है. किसी भी व्यक्ति की बात को सुनने मात्र से ये नहीं कहा जा सकता कि वो झूठ बोल रहा है या सच. अगर आपने भूतकाल में कोई गलत काम किया है, तो आप शेष बचे जीवन में हमेशा सत्य बोलकर पापों का प्रायश्चित कर सकते हैं.

ध्यान या जप - आधुनिक युग में ऐसे लोग बहुत कम बचे हैं, जो रोजाना ध्यान करते हो. पूजा-पाठ भगवान को प्रसन्न करने के लिए नहीं बल्कि स्वंय का स्वंय से मिलन करवाने के लिए की जाती है. आत्मध्यान करके हम आत्मसाक्षात्कार कर सकते हैं. नियमित रूप से स्वच्छ मन से जप या ध्यान करने से भूल से हुई गलतियों से पार पाया जा सकता है.

“Om” serves as the Divine itself too. It’s the sound of Brahman, of the atman, and shows the divine as a part of Om-Tat-Sat (Bhagavad Gita, 17.23). Lord Krishna says, “Of speech, I am the transcendental syllable, Om.” (Bhagavad Gita, 10.25). He adds, “I am the divine syllable Om in all the Vedas” to show how the universe rests in Him (7.08).
