Special Issue on 'India-US Relations under the Joe Biden Administration'

A robust bilateral strategic partnership with India has been backed by successive United States administrations. It enjoys strong bipartisan support from the two main political parties in the US - the Democratic Party and the Republican Party.
As Joe Biden assumed office as the 46th President of the United States, questions about the nature of India-US relations under a new US administration have become pertinent. This issue of the Journal focuses on various aspects of India-US relations.
Prof. Chintamani Mahapatra, Amb. Arun K. Singh, Prof. Annpurna Nautiyal, Prof. Arvind Kumar, Prof. Sanjukta Bhattacharyaukta Bhattacharya. Dr. Monish Tourangbam, Shri Pramit Pal Chaudhuri, Dr. G. Balachandran, Dr. Shreya Upadhyay and Dr. Vivek Mishra comment on what to expect.
(While articles were received soon after the January 2021 inauguration of the new President, the issue has been unduly delayed due to the Pandemic lock downs)

Korean War @ 70:

Seventy years ago this week, on 25th June 1950, War broke out in the Korean Peninsula, when North Korean forces crossed the 38th parallel - the post war accepted demarcation line between the two Koreas. The over 3 years bloody war, ended in an uneasy truce, with the signing of an Armistice Agreement on July 27, 1953.

As one part of the agreement, a Neutral Nations Repatriation Commission (NNRC) was set up under the chairmanship of India to supervise repatriation of the POWs. Ambassador Eric Gonsalves, a young officer then, was with the NNRC.

Some years ago, in 2007, IFAJ had recorded an Oral History Narrative of Ambassador Gonsalves on India’s role in resolving the Korean crisis of 1950–54 - India’s first successful global assignment.

The narrative is available at:http://associationdiplomats.org/Publications/ifaj/Vol2/2.2/2.2-OralHistory-_EricGonsalves-Resolving_the_Korean_Crisis__1_.pdf
