Kulgam May 29: The residents of Chiteripora phaloo village in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Wednesday staged a protest against the Jal Shakti (PHE) department kulgam over the issue of non-availability of drinking water in the area.
Scores of the residents including men, women and children assembled on Road and raised Slogans against Jal Shakti department kulgam for failing to provide drinking over in their area.
Protestors block phaloo chumgund road alleged that matter has been brought to the notice of the concerned administration but no improvement has been witnessed so far which forced us to hit streets.
The Inhabitants said that we are demanding clean drinking water for their survival as the area is facing acute shortage of drinking water facilities from last one month.
The protesters appealed to higher authorities to look into the matter and to redress the problem at the earliest so that people can feel some sort of relief.

4-year-old girl dies as tree falls on her in Bandipora
Srinagar, May 28: A minor girl died after a tree and fell on her in north Kashmir's Bandipora district on Tuesday evening.
Reports reaching the news agency Kashmir Scroll said due to heavy windstorm a tree fell on a girl aged 04 year old and injured her critically in Shiekhpora area of Tulibal in Bandipora district.
How'ver she was immediately taken to nearby hospital where doctors declared her brought dead on arrival.
A police officer told News Agency Kashmir Scroll that the deceased girl has been identified as Madhiya Nazir daughter of Imran Nazir of Tulial Gurez. (KS)

An annual traditional festival is being celebrated in Panzath village, located in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, with the aim of keeping the renowned 500 springs free of weeds and pollution. The festival also provides people with an opportunity for fishing.

Panzath, Qazigund celebrates annual cleaning and fishing festival
The Annual Cleaning and Fishing Festival is being celebrated on Sunday at Panzath in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
Panzath is famous for its Panzath Nag, believed to have the gushing water of 500 mythical springs.
Every year, the villagers, joined by others from adjoining villages, enter the spring waters of Panzath Nag to clean the downstream of weeds and other pollutants.
The festival is also celebrated as a fishing event.
Aaqib Gull, a local of Panzath Nag, told RK that the fishing in the streams of Panzath Nag aims to promote environmental cleanliness.
He said the goal is to keep the stream free of weeds and ensure a smooth flow of water throughout the year. (RK) 👇
