Rajma Chawal 🤤
Here's a simple recipe for cooking rajma directly in a pressure cooker:
Ingredients:
- 1 cup rajma (kidney beans), soaked overnight
- 2-3 cups water
- 2 onion, paste
- 2 tomatoes paste
- 2-3 cloves minced
- 1-inch ginger, grated
- 2 green chilies, slit
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon coriander powder
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder (adjust to taste)
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- Salt to taste
- 2 tablespoons oil
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions:
1. Rinse the soaked rajma thoroughly and set aside.
2. Heat oil in the pressure cooker. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
3. Add onions and sauté until they turn translucent.
4. Add minced garlic, grated ginger, and slit green chilies. Sauté for a couple of minutes until the raw smell disappears.
5. Add tomatoes and cook until they turn soft and mushy.
6. Add turmeric powder, coriander powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well and cook the spices for a minute.
7. Add the soaked rajma to the cooker. Stir well to coat the rajma with the spice mixture.
8. Pour in water and mix everything together.
9. Close the pressure cooker with its lid and cook on medium-high heat until you hear 3-4 whistles.
10. Reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for another 10-15 minutes.
11. Turn off the heat and allow the pressure to release naturally.
12. Open the pressure cooker carefully and check the consistency of the rajma. If it's too thick, add some water and adjust the seasoning if needed.
13. Sprinkle garam masala and garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
14. Serve hot with rice or roti. Enjoy your delicious rajma!
