In a series of programs celebrating Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav, the Jammu and Kashmir Police is organising various youth - centric programs to engage them in constructive activities. These comprehensive measures of J&K Police are an endeavour to provide an appropriate platform to the talented youth to showcase their talent and move ahead in life.
In this connection, a cycle race "Pedal for Peace" was organised by Hadwara Police and NGO 'Feeding Kashmir' in Vilgam.
The cycle race was flagged off by SHO PS Vilgam Inspector Iftikhar which started from Vilgam and culminated at Champora. The event was witnessed by large number of participants and local population of the area who appreciated the move of Handwara police and stayed on the road side to cheer up the participating cyclists.
SHO Vilgam shared on the event that, Handwara Police has expanded its role to promote sports and other activities in the PD with an aim to inspire the youth of the Police District towards sports for their overall development.
At the end of the event, prizes were distributed among winners and runner ups and participating certificates were also distributed to the remaining participants.
Besides, members of NGO Feeding Kashmir and officers of army also witnessed the event who encouraged the participants for participating sports events and advised them to choose sports instead of drugs...

A two-storey residential house was gutted in a fire mishap in north Kashmirβs Rawatpora kralpora on late Saturday.
Reports said that a residential house of Ab Rehman sofi was gutted in a mysterious fire broke out at Rawatpora area here in kralpora kupwara this evening, Soon after fire tenders were rushed to the spot to douse the flames with the help of locals but couldnβt save the upper storey of the house.
Hence property worth lacs were damaged in this fire mishap.
The cause of fire was probably said to be an electric short-circuit...
