BREAKING: West Coast Region Zonal Committee have fined the Sukata Zonal Team D15,000 and banned them from playing on their home ground next season. Sukuta will also exit this season's tournament per the statement from the West Coast Region Zonal Committee.

This is due to the violence caused by the Sukata 'fans, spectators and well wishers' during the quarter-final between Sukuta and Foni at the Dembadu park on the 17th of November, 2024.
After Foni equalized late in the game, there was sand and stones 'rained' from the side of Sukata, making the match unsafe to continue.

Summary of DG Demba Ceesay’s Maiden Conference Statement as Director General of DLEAG

Director General Demba Ceesay, in his maiden press conference as the new head of the Drug Law Enforcement Agency, The Gambia (DLEAG), reaffirmed his commitment to combating drug abuse and trafficking. He acknowledged the widespread issue of drug abuse among Gambian youths and the country’s vulnerability as a transit hub for trafficking networks targeting Europe.

Key Highlights:

1. Strategic Reforms:
DG Ceesay reviewed DLEAG’s structure and operational strategies to enhance effectiveness, focusing on high-traffic areas such as borders, city districts, and the airport.

2. Success in Drug Seizures:
Since July, DLEAG registered 444 cases involving 465 individuals, achieving unprecedented drug seizure rates.

3. Collaborative Efforts:
DLEAG is working closely with government institutions, sister security agencies (GPF, SIS, GAF), and international partners such as UNODC, UK National Crime Agency, and regional anti-narcotic agencies.

The agency seeks to strengthen community partnerships and media collaboration to combat drug issues more effectively.

4. Call to Action:
DG Ceesay emphasized the need for public support, urging Gambians to aid law enforcement efforts, and pledged to sustain professionalism and integrity within DLEAG.

The Director General concluded by reiterating his resolve to make The Gambia a drug-free nation with the support of all stakeholders.

Message to the Public:
DLEAG assures Gambians of enhanced professionalism and integrity in tackling drug issues and appeals for collective action to create a safer, drug-free society.

High Court Hears GACH's Case Against Kaddijatou Kebbeh & Saikou Drammeh

GACH Global Trading’s case against Kaddijatou Kebbeh and Saikou Drammeh resumed in the High Court. GACH claims both defendants misappropriated D58.9 million and $221,000 intended for Gam Petroleum and seeks additional recovery of $1,600 in commission received by Kebbeh.

The court reviewed documents from Gam Petroleum, Koringo, and Vista Bank as evidence. Gam Petroleum’s representative provided agreements and letters, though objections were raised over photocopies instead of originals. The Judge admitted them provisionally, pending original copies. Koringo’s head submitted an invoice, and Vista Bank presented a Swift transfer document, both accepted into evidence.

Justice Jaiteh adjourned the case to November 18, 2024, for further document verification.
