I am a Christian

A) I believe there is one God (3 dimensional in nature : God - Spirit - Word )

Where do I find this in the Bible?

Genesis 1: 1 - 3
“ In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.”

From the first chapter of the Bible, we see the triune nature of God unfolding:

1. God/Father - Source
2. Spirit of God ( God is Spirit and those who worship Him must worship Him in Spirit and in Truth
3. Word of God ( note - the word is not created, the word is creator: Jesus is the word of God)

B) I am one being but 3 dimensional in nature ( soul, body, spirit) and I live in a 3 dimensional universe.

I cannot save myself - I am in need of a saviour

C) I am saved by grace through faith ( not by good deeds). Christ provided the antidote for the death venom of sin.

D) I am called to love my neighbor as I love myself.

E) I put this love into action daily- delaying gratification, denying myself many things so others can benefit and advance; feeding the poor, educating the next generation etc

F) For the rest of my life, I am being transformed to become like Christ and
will continue to willingly (not forced) submit to the will of God; because He loves me.

Footnote: A Christian is someone who is like Christ. Christ is sinless and alive (eternally). Why should I be ashamed of been called an overcomer of sin possessing eternal life??

1. Contrite heart : brokenness ( Christlike Character / Circumcised heart) : evidence of the fruit of the spirit. Mature plants produce fruits. A matured believer shows forth the virtues of the spirit/ fruit of the spirit - patience, faithfulness, self control etc
Ephesians 4:2 -3. Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.

2. Contentment: Philippians 4:11-13
Not that I was ever in need, for I have learned how to be content with whatever I have. I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything. I have learned the secret of living in every situation, whether it is with a full stomach or empty, with plenty or little.

3. Capacity: The ability to discern God's voice and align one's will to His. The capacity to endure hardship - 2 Timothy 4:5 But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry. Matured believers don't quit when things get tough.

4. Community mindset: A matured believer recognizes the bigger picture of God's kingdom advancement agenda and lives a life beyond himself. He/she does not neglect the gathering together of God's people. He acknowledges that the model of God is not independence but interdependence.

5. Commitment: A matured believer responds and remains committed to the CALL. Jesus said , “No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back [to the things left behind] is fit for the kingdom of God.” Luke 9:62 A matured believer takes up responsibility in his or her area of gifting and serves diligently / unwaveringly

6. Consistency: A matured believer is steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord - knowing that his labour is not in vain ( in the Lord) 1 Con 15:58

Ephesians 4:14-16 that we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; but speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: from whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.

7. Convictions driven: A matured believer has strong convictions anchored on the absolutes of scriptures and is not ready to compromise them for anything on planet earth.

8. Covenant- Conscious - A matured believer recognizes the centrality of the new covenant in Christ and does his best to appropriate the tokens of the covenant in his / her life.

9. Contributor/Concerned about God's other children : Philippians 2:4 Let each of you esteem and look upon and be concerned for not [merely] his own interests, but also each for the interests of others. A matured believer contributes or gives generously towards the advancement of the kingdom.

10. Courageous: Having journeyed with God for some time, the believer recognizes the faithfulness of God and refuses to be intimidated by the forces of the earth and their agents - knowing that he is seated with Christ far above all principalities and powers.
Ephesians 1:21 far above all rule and authority and power and dominion [whether angelic or human], and [far above] every name that is named [above every title that can be conferred], not only in this age and world but also in the one to come.

Pray for the people in those communities we touched who are still carrying on life searching for answers to the tough questions: Who cares about my problems? What is my purpose in this world? Okay let me put it differently. When satan interacted with Adam and Eve he released a venom into their lives. This venom is called the sin problem. All the evil we observe in the world today are symptoms of the sin problem. Eg the corruption we cry about daily.

If we have malaria and we keep treating the symptoms with paracetamol, we will never get better and obviously the malaria will kill us.

Moral reform programmes can't handle the venom. We have to be wise enough to seek and deal with the underlying problem rather than treat symptoms.

Hoping to have our good deeds outweigh our bad deeds can't serve as the antidote because one million good deeds will be nullified by a single sin. Sin separates us from God.

Again I agree with you that God forgives sins but people have been confessing the same sins to God for the last decades. So obviously we are in need of the antidote to break the power of the sin problem in our lives.

Do you understand???

This is what the gospel is here address. It is the power (antidote) to save all those who believe. This antidote is found in Christ Jesus .

The venom affected all of us and all the prophets you know. But the Messiah/ Saviour/ sinless/ pure being came to rescue us and give us access to the kingdom of God - the realm of righteousness, peace and joy.
