NEW NIGHT CLUB TURNED SECURITY THREAT TO THE COMMUNITY

The newly disco and bar night club Beyai K***a at Cashew Junction Batokunku Village is a security threat to the community .

During their last night party gang's of boys in the area spoiled the street light provided by the village VDC . This solar street light makes the environment free to move at night time without fear .

Many compounds in the environment complained the establishment of this compound disco bar night club caused alot of environment damages ie selling all types alcohol and drugs etc

The families urging authorities to stopped this establishment because the structure is not built for night club is purposely for residential.

Please let the authorities put a stopped for such established ,which is described as security threatened to the people's living in the community ...

*Celebrating the Outstanding Work of Gambian Media in the Face of Low Wages*

International Workers Day is a day to celebrate and advocate for the rights of the working class and labourers. Similarly, this is a day to celebrate the hard work of Gambian Media practitioners who continue to persevere in the face of low wages and challenges in accessing Information.

According to a recent study by the Gambia Press Union on media wages, 34% of media workers earn less than D2,500 a month. Even though the challenges exist Gambian Media practitioners continue to win awards for their amazing work both within the country and across the continent.

To improve the welfare of Gambian media practitioners I urge all media institutions to sign the GPU Collective Bargaining agreement which aims to standardise the wages of Gambian media practitioners.

In the past years, there have been a rising number of attacks on media practitioners. We call on the general public to be more accommodating towards the media and urge media practitioners to abide by the GPU Code of Conduct and Ethics.

We also call on all media practitioners to register with the Union so we can advocate for their welfare together.

Former Health Minister Omar Sey died today after a long illness.

He was the former Minister of Health and Social Welfare of the Republic of The Gambia, a position he assumed from August 2013 to January 2017. Before his assignment, Honorable Omar Sey was Chief Executive Officer, AFPRC General Hospital (2004 – 2009).

Alhasana Touray young Gambian residing in Italy a native of Tujereng Nema Kuta kombo South is nowhere to be found for three good years .

Mr Touray visited Gambia in early December 2019 after them family members loses communicate with in 2020 .

The family appealing to the Gambian embassy and diaspora in Italy to reunited Mr Alhasana Touray with family members.

This story is disheartening , eye witness today at Batokunku village were electrical service pole is small stick .

When people apply for electricity NAWEC will advise the applicant to provide normal services pole ie equivalent to twenty five thousand dalasis otherwise you will not have electricity in your house. Just imagine the corrugate were the meter is connected is totally wrong idea.

This is totally injustice, their some area around Lansarr in Tanji village since 2016 to date those people don't have access to meter but the gardener's in batokunku village uses stick and corrugate to fixed the meter.

Basically, such an act can be described as corruption and injustice.
