OUR COUNTRY IS NOT VIOLENCE-RIDDEN 🩸

This initiative aims to reinforce the principles of peace among the people of Techiman and all Ghanaians before, during, and after the forthcoming elections.

We want Violent-Free Elections.

"Elections represent a key moment for citizens to use their voting power to reflect, choose, and select leaders to act for their country and the future. This can only be possible when there is peace and stability, freedom, tolerance, and respect for one another.

Elections are not a period of combat and the unhealthy exchange of views or for divisive language."

Our country is NOT Violence-ridden and therefore, until every life is respected, and properties protected, achieving peaceful co-existence remains a distant goal.

We all, as individuals, need to spread messages that encourage peace because the existence of peace begins with us, for all we have is one Ghana."

The CEO of Techiman Heroes, Mr. Eric Opoku has been elected to the office of the GHALCA Council as a Division One League Representative.

Before the election on Thursday, April 28, Mr. Eric Opoku had this to say;

“As a Partner and Chief Executive Officer of Techiman Heroes Sporting Club, I have over the years invested heavily in our football all with the aim of helping to develop our beautiful game. It is with the same passion and dedication which l am using to invest in the game that I intend to serve GHALCA with.

Though, I am not billed to be the chairman when elected but I believe that one person can make a difference when elected.

I have a message of decentralized GHALCA because l believe that, a decentralized GHALCA will make our institution stronger and make our members feel the impact across the country.

Despite my vision, I will not run away from the responsibilities of carrying the burden of our members to appropriate quarters for solutions.

I, Eric Opoku have decided to serve members of our noble GHALCA on the GHALCA council as a Division One Representative.

I respectively and humbly solicit your blessings and support in my intention to serve you, GHALCA and Ghana football at large.”

After approving $433 million in 2019 to bankroll a five-year project, providing citizens with a unique 11-digit identification numbers to every registered SIM card, Nigeria had a slight decline in kidnapping reports in 2023.

Last month, the former Nigerian minister for communications, innovation and digital economy, Isa Pantami made a statement alleging that, Nigerian security officials were refusing to use SIM cards to apprehend the increasing number of kidnappers.

The ex-minister’s statement still made a splash as it concerned the kidnapping of five sisters—one of whom was murdered—in the nation’s capital territory of Abuja.

Security officials in Nigeria's tech capital, Lagos have announced the reactivation of tracking devices to apprehend kidnappers. The Lagos State Commissioner of Police said, on Friday that, they are working with several other agencies to apprehend culprits in hot zones.

Meanwhile, sources at the Nigerian Police Force say that, the police don’t have adequate tracking devices, and sometimes have to depend on tracking systems by the domestic intelligence agency DSS which increased response time.

The sources also revealed that the payment for the tracking service at the NPF was suspended at the same time.

With the service now back on track in Lagos, it’s unclear if other states across the federation, especially in hotspots like Kaduna, FCT, and Niger will also get the same support.

Content creators in Nigeria briefly faced tax fears last week after the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) targeted them as a "major block of tax evaders," and announced plans to tax them.

However, there's been a swift turnaround.

According to an FIRS source, personal income tax, which governs individual creators, falls under state government jurisdiction and the FIRS focuses on Company Income Tax, targeting businesses exceeding ₦25 million ($16,638) in profits.

The FIRS has now issued a new statement clarifying that it does not intend to tax individual content creators as they do not fall under its jurisdiction.

While individual content creators may be exempt from direct FIRS taxation...

The FIRS is pushing forward with a new structure focused on modernising tax administration to revamped the system and utilise a technology to simplify the taxpayer experience.
