Tain & District Picture Post

Tain & District Picture Post Tain & District Picture Post is a monthly local magazine with pictures and reports of local news and events and pictures and stories of local history.

The Tain & District Picture Post is a monthly magazine which covers local news and events and has regular contributions from individuals writing their memories of growing up in Tain, other local history writers as well as regular updates from schools and clubs/organisations so it has a variety of content. We like to include as many pictures as we can from local events/schools and so forth and the

“Old File” historical pictures are extremely popular. We are grateful for the support we receive from local business advertising and our local retailers which helps to keep us in circulation. Communication is one of the main functions of the magazine and readers are encouraged to view it as a platform to request information, support a local cause or charity and raise the profile of other local ventures free of charge. It has become very popular, particularly in Tain, since its inception and is especially favoured for giving readers a trip down memory lane. We like to focus on the positive news in the community to uplift our readers and feel that the existence of the TDPP contributes somewhat in giving cohesiveness to our community.

Make a day of it this Saturday...

✔️ Cheer on your local football team (1pm)
✔️ Visit the Christmas market (2pm-6pm)
✔️ Watch the Christmas lights being switched on (5pm)

NEXT UP

We are back at Grant Park in Tain for this weekend's visit of Golspie Sutherland, as we look to bounce back with three points in front of a home crowd.

As ever, our tea hut will be open for the game, along with our half-time raffle. Make a day of it by coming along to show your support for the lads before heading along the high street for the switching on of this year's Christmas lights!

World War 1 Banner, Collegiate Church Entrance

A recently colourised photo showing the gates to the Collegiate Church in Tain. As well as a large wreath with the words “In Memoriam to Our Dead” a banner can be seen strung out between the buildings displaying the names of major battles of WWI.

The original photo probably dates from the early 1920s.

Tain High Street circa 1860

This is the oldest image of Tain High Street we have in our collection. Note the old St Duthus Lodge, at the end of the High Street, which was replaced by the present Royal Hotel in 1872.
