American electric car maker Fisker Inc has filed for bankruptcy protection after failing to secure a rescue deal with investors.

The California-based business, founded in 2016 by former Aston Martin and BMW designer Henrik Fisker, will use the filing to sell its assets and restructure its debt.

Professional drivers in the UK are driving fewer miles prior to a collision, prompting calls for a renewed focus on safety.

British AI company Wayve has raised $1.1bn (£840m) in funding to develop the next generation of AI-powered self-driving vehicles.
